@bigomega
they are putting me down tomorrow for being too earnest. but i really think it’s going to be okay : - )
There's a recurring online tendency to aestheticize consensus itself. The imagined future village is full of emotionally compatible people who enjoy communal gardening, conflict resolution circles, acoustic folk music, mutual aid potlucks, and repairing bicycles together at sunset. Which is nice for the people who genuinely enjoy that lifestyle. But plenty of humans are solitary, prickly, obsessive, urban, nocturnal, sensory-seeking, technologically attached, contrarian, novelty-seeking, private, or just plain difficult. Those people do not evaporate after the revolution. They do not get Left Behind while you are Raptured into the Utopia. They become your neighbors.

in a large sense scarcity is a necessity for true happiness as it gives the human the ability to savor, to find beauty, meaning, etc. If my every desire is met then what is the point of living? I am thankful when I do not receive what I want, only so that I can sink deeply into presence when I do. I think that we must allow suffering to find us, we must sometimes accept lack, and know that it's all part of the rhythm too.
obama really laid the entire groundwork for trump style parodies of political upheaval, but he conned a bit harder simply by being a right winger running as a democrat
"yes we can" "change" "hope" "make america great again" whats the difference
actually maga couldve very easily been the motto for a campaign like bernie's, if the past 'great america' being referenced was 1944-1963, when america's top margin's income tax stayed between 91% and 94%.
providing a real historical reference point, reminding people that america DID heavily tax the highest incomes, and that it was better for basically everyone(besides banks, financiers, lobbyists...), might've genuinely given weight to the 'tax the rich' mentality, might've prevented it from being so toothless
literally 'Make America Capitalist Again, back when profits were made by buying and selling goods, rather than managerial feudalism, where profits are made by creating debts through rent, insurance, fees and penalties, and enforcing them through the courts' is probably what a significant number of """conservatives""" actually wanted from trump.
QED capitalism = socialism (in america)
you've met me at a very "yeah i'm trying to work on that" time in my life
ontologically evil? no you misheard me i said im etymologically evil. i'm changing the root of words for personal gains you cannot fathom.
sorry i never replied. everyday is blending together and i'm losing sense of time
favorite type of word: names of genres that tell you nothing without context. literary fiction. popular music. interactive fiction. lets invent a new genre called experiencable media
has anyone figured out how to turn off the thing where you love your pet so much it slides inexorably into grief-borrowing
“For me this glass is already broken. I enjoy it; I drink out of it. It holds my water admirably, sometimes even reflecting the sun in beautiful patterns. If I should tap it, it has a lovely ring to it. But when I put this glass on the shelf and the wind knocks it over or my elbow brushes it off the table and it falls to the ground and shatters, I say, ‘Of course.’ When I understand that the glass is already broken, every moment with it is precious.”
I am pathologically always speaking in a manner of jest
there is so much content about changing your life or becoming and it’s like whatever man you’re missing what’s right in front of you. Imperfection is forever.
hey, hey breathe. this is entirely your fault.
(to the tone of creep by radiohead) but i'm asleep. on mypillow
did they ever figure out how to put thoughts into words. did they ever get on top of that
