Happy New Year
As we close in on another year one cannot help but think about the concept of time as we humans perceive it. Twelve months in a year, 52 weeks, 365 days. To challenge this notion is to challenge something the entire world believes and relies on. But to not question it would be to dishonor the very essence of humanity. Time will go on. Just as surely as the sun sets in the west it will again rise in the east. No other living being on this planet seems to put much emphasis on this rhythmic flow of time except us humans. When asked why, many arguments come forth. Some say calendars and clocks are necessary for the proper function of society whereas others may argue that it is just a product of human evolution. I believe that our ancestors organized time in to such a system to bring hope to humankind. Saying goodbye to a year and welcoming a new one is like turning the page on a new chapter of our lives. Any and all twists and turns life threw our way we can leave them behind us and move forward. For whatever reason, the universe has decided to grant humanity another year. A clean slate, a blank canvas. A fresh start. With the experience from the previous year to help us grow stronger and smarter. In this spirit I wish everyone a Happy New Year. May this year be filled with nothing but love, joy, and progress.
