Diana’s cast system including Barbara Ann Minerva, Etta Candy, and Steve Trevor for 90s Wonder Woman :P They exist in a universe where Steve isn’t a soldier, Etta headlines an (eventually) famous band, and Barbara is a talented anthropologist with an abusive biochemist fiancé who eventually transforms her into a monster. Refs and extra thoughts under the cut :)
-I really like the idea of Etta and the Holliday Girls being a band like they are in Legend of Wonder Woman #11, I think it would provide a lot of opportunities for Etta to be more central to the story whereas in comic canon she’s often tragically shafted in my eyes. It would give her more ambitions and an internal world, and also provide a justification for Diana’s international adventures that is lost when you remove the heinous military propaganda. I think her and Diana would meet when Etta is a small-time musician and form an instant connection because their hearts are mirrors of each other <3 and Etta’s subsequent skyrocket to fame would become a central plot point because of the dangers and adventures being in the public eye bring
-Steve is a runaway who washes up on Themyscira by chance and maybe a bit of magical interference. He’s very secretive about who he is and what’s happened to him and when he does talk it’s very jumbled and nonsensical. I think this would make him an interesting first outsider for Diana to meet, given she’s grown up in a paradise where truth has always seemed simple. Someone who struggles to tell the truth both because it’s painful and it’s hard for they themselves to understand would be an interesting contrast and immediately allow her to broaden her perspectives and explore the theme of truth telling common in Wonder Woman stories. His numbered outfits are ideas for how he’d look first meeting Diana and his leftmost outfit is how he ends up looking in a healed state
-Barbara is an anthropologist with a specialization in the Bronze Age Mediterranean. She’s done a lot of research on Linear A and Linear B syllabary and Indo-European languages, so even though Diana’s lasso allows her to communicate with others who don’t share her language, her and Barbara are able to form an instant connection built off that understanding. Barbara is a deeply closeted lesbian in a relationship with an abusive biochemist, and even though she’s incredibly smart and assured in her knowledge, Diana watches her confidence slowly deteriorate until a final violent attack from him transforms her into the Cheetah
Diana! I wanted to give her classic outfit a 1990s tilt and take a shot at her Themyscirian and Amazonian Competition outfits as well. Refs and explanations under the cut for those curious!

- I wanted to base Wonder Woman’s hero outfit on 1990s music icons because I think a big part of a hero costume is who makes it, and I’d want Etta to design Diana’s costume! I think she’d go that route for a couple reasons but I have a post about Diana’s cast coming up so I’ll leave it for now lol
- her Amazonian competition outfit is based on Minoan bull-leaping outfits as seen in frescoes, I thought it was the best thing to pull from because the competition represents her vault from regular life to her Wonder Woman. I also wanted it to connect visually to her hero outfit so Etta would have something to pull from
- her Themyscirian outfit is detached in its colour scheme because she hasn’t gone through the trials (literally and psychologically) to become Wonder Woman yet. I enjoy her origin story as a coming of age and this would be her starting point, just as the daughter of the queen of paradise… I wish I could make her outfits more accurate to actual Minoan clothing but we aren’t on that kind of website unfortunately
