It wasn’t like her at all to get so angry, so defensive. But she felt as though she was entrusted with some responsibility to care for the spirits since she had such a connection with them. It was really something to behold. No matter how much she would deny it, many consider her to be a bit of a legend in her own right, especially since she was able to best her grandfather in becoming the youngest airbending master in history.
Once Jinora heard Varrick’s intentions, her features softened, and her expression went from one of disgust to one of contemplation. She had no idea what exactly to tell him. He wanted to impress his wife. But it’s not like you could just draw a map of the spirit world. It was far more intricate than that.
“You would probably need to have some kind of a guide to help you, be that a human or a spirit.” Jinora could navigate quite well, but she understands how much that could be an issue. It would be like Kai taking her on a date and Ikki sticks around blathering in her ear. No thanks.
“Yes! Exactly what I was thinking. See? We’re already on the SAME page, now.” Promptly, and as if the young bender hadn’t offended him mere seconds prior, his JOVIAL nature returned, face illuminated by a grin like an excited CHILD. Rather unlike Jinora, though, he had already seen well past the issue of what one would call a “third wheel.” In fact, without even first securing her ASSISTANCE, the eccentric man had plotted out nearly everything to minute details.
He just had a knack for assuming his ideas would always WORK.
“So here’s the plan–” Again, he moved in. Not quite as CLOSE as before, but enough so that it was almost as if they were exchanging a SECRET. “You take me into the spirit world first. Y’know, get me acquainted with where everything is, where to go, where NOT to go, make sure we won’t get KILLED–that whole deal. And then once that’s all taken care of, I can act as the guide we’ll be needing when I take Zhu Li.” He straightened up after the pitch, hands clasped in front of himself as if WITHHOLDING his enthusiasm.
