"your plant. it's dying."
"Oh dang! Yeah no it's not my plant. It's a friends. How do I keep it alive? Don't want to be accused of plant murder."
'It's no problem kind citizen. Just doing my duty." He was doing his best not to chuckle at saying duty.
"So which way is Fawcett city from here?"
"We protect people. What the public thinks of me — or any other hero — is not as important as the lives we save."
Diana had, of course, seen what had happened recently with Superman in Metropolis and Boravia. It seemed remiss to not acknowledge it, but she had little interest in optics. She cared — deeply. But it was about humans. Humanity. Not what social media said.
He hadn't been paying attention. Wonder Woman was talking to him. He had her picture on his wall! He couldn't believe he was this close to her. A moment of panic set in as it seemed as though she was expected an answer for him.
"Yes, absolutely, Miss Wonder Woman!" Miss Wonder Woman? He felt like an idiot for having said that.
"You need to water your pothos--I don't even need to be me to hear her screaming on her little shelf over there. you know the drooping is a cry for help, right?"
"I... Don't know what that means, green lady."
"You realize you'd be screwed if we were on the record, right?"
"Wait... What does that mean?"
"hey, you haven't by any chance seen a fluffy white dog anywhere, have you?" because why wouldn't he have to chase down the worlds most powerful dog while also trying to keep metropolis from being trampled by a giant kaiju? must be tuesday.
"I'm your biggest Superman!" Billy felt his ears grow warm as his blood rushed to them. Here he was. Superman and Shazam. Shazam and Superman, together finally. This was going to be awesome. It had to be. "I mean..." He cleared his throat before putting on a deeper voice - which was entirely unnecessary - "What I meant to say is I appreciate your work, sir. I have not seen your dog on the perimeter of my-" He paused thinking of the right word. "Reconnaissance."
He appeared in the crater with Superman in a streak of gold before offering a hand with thin wisps of electricity arcing between his finger tips. "With our combined efforts I'm sure we can save the world from this fluffy dog." His wording was overdramatic, but he was trying to play it up to seem cool to Superman.
