too vague, you’ll agree, for things to seem

a passing tide upon my hands

that far too long have dreamt up dreams

of being more than hands that seem

to drift upon the dreaming ditch of damned aesthetic bliss.

a passing phase, sure to agree

with things that were, yet refuse to be

than tea added to sugar cubes numbering three

inside the wasted cup of thee

your timid tyrant - doe-eyed fear

that gnaws upon your tongues and ear

until your hair is ten feet long

at which point (whether right or wrong)

will evaporate for lack of baited breath

can kill the beauty in the vague and deft

and dismiss you, kissed and quite amiss

by the dreaming ditch of damned aesthetic bliss.
