I know Hippolyta being 1940s Wonder Woman is divisive among WW fans, and I totally get it, but I do naaat get those who are also JSA fans hating it. Like… That's already the premise of JSA. Like, we are already reading a story about bunch of randos retconned to be the first originals for the sake of world-building. Accepting that, it doesn't strike me as any worse than Alan Scott preceding Batman as the hero of Gotham.
This is literally where they’ve gotten the idea for “Hippolyta is the 40’s WW” I’m convinced.
This also ruins everything though because those comics are purely Diana and Steven coming to Man’s World… with blonde Hippolyta… and that’s the papers word for word.. so wtf is Diana reading? That her mother ran off the island with a man, or at least what “man’s world” thinks happened.
This panel is what upsets me with the recon because you could’ve just did that. She went back in time, America found out about her… those are HER comics and Diana comes later, not that the world thinks Diana and Hippolyta are the same person lol
