i know im not anybody in aroha and i'm lowkey sticking my nose in business that i dont have a major stake in. but i will say this:
you cannot expect people to come to you with complaints if you have created an environment in which coming forward is discouraged.
you cannot be upset at people being shady in the tags when that is the only way they may feel comfortable speaking out. i dont view the tagging as immature, but as being the only way these people are able to comment when the rhetoric is so clearly dominated by one side.
this isnt an issue about being unapproachable because you are a big blog. this is about being unapproachable because your blog is not an encouraging and supportive environment fueled by love for astro (rather than a desire to be the biggest and best fan).
you are completely correct when stating that nobody should let an issue like this one go unaddressed! this is that issue being addressed.
nobody is perfect and you’re right - we’ve all made mistakes. we’ve all done something stupid or said something mean, but we have to learn and grow. we must see our own faults and understand how to grow from them and cannot rely on others to always point them out. part of being an adult is accepting both your imperfections and the persuit of better. recognizing and owning up to your past actions (regardless of how you’ve changed since) is an important part of growing up.
that being said, you cannot expect forgiveness and love and empathy from those you have hurt, especially when the same has not been historically shown by you. i will not pretend i am one of those people, but i am disheartened by seeing others reblog your post with mh’s comment and expressing how they feel the same way. because ive seen some amazing, caring, kind people in this fandom, i am sure that some will find it in their hearts to forgive how you’ve made them feel. but do not expect it from everyone.
being an aroha, at its core, is about love. it’s about love for astro, love for ourselves and what brings us joy, and love for each other.
