Divers near Blaigowrie Pier, Port Phillip Bay, Australia, came across this bizarre scene of over 1,000 spider crabs crawling on top of one another to create some sort of creepy pyramid.

Why are the turtles crying
to feed the butterflies
Also, It is not because they are sad or being harassed. They actually have a gland that empties into their eyes that helps them get rid of too much salt that they collect living in the salty water. You can only see their tears when they are out of the water on land, and the tears also help keep sand out of the turtle’s eyes. The tears of the tortoises are an essential contribution of salt and minerals for the butterflies survival and the turtles work with them like a friendship & open their eyes for them to drink without hesitation.
Butterfly: Man I’m so hungry bro.
Turtle: I gotcha homie. *Opens eyes*
Butterfly: Thanks man.
That’s friendship.
This may be one of the most adorable animal facts I’ve ever heard.
They also do it with crocodiles! [x]
Today i learned about the spanish moon moth, they're so pretty + look like stained glass windows
ahh youre right, the patterns on the wings are really intricate and striking
theyre not the only ones though ! the other luna moths in the actias genus are also the same pale green/yellow color with gorgeous wing patterns, like the chinese moon moth
the american luna moth
the malaysian moon moth
and the madagascar moon moth, also called the comet moth !
This counts as incredible timing. Videographer on a boat off the coast of Iceland is visited by a blue whale and captures the encounter on camera. My word that thing is enormous, look at its size compared to the waves! Also…note how blue the water is while we’re at it.
What the fuck. Wouldn’t it be cool to die like this
fun fact this was the inspiration for the xenomorphs’ second mouth thing

While the general background coloration of most glass frogs is primarily lime green, the abdominal skin of some members of this family is translucent. A Termite Queen
During her 15-year lifespan, a termite queen can lay more than 165 million eggs. She can also haunt more than 165 million of my nightmares. [x]

A brinicle, also commonly known as an “ice stalactite” forms under the sea ice when a flow of extremely cold saline water is introduced to ocean water. It is known as an ice stalactite because it is the undersea equivalent of a hollow stalactite. It freezes everything it touches, including sea creatures.
