An open letter to the fans of Reviving Bionicle
I’ve been thinking about this series a lot as of late.
Let me make something clear: I want to do this. I want to make this series. There was some soul searching a few months ago about if I actually wanted to continue this- I have come to the conclusion that I do.
But wow, I can’t shake the feeling that what I’m doing is an embarrassment. Something for people to laugh at, instead of with.
I was able to look at my series through a lens of someone who had never seen it before for the first time. In other words, if I was hypothetically a person that had never heard of Reviving Bionicle before and I saw the series, do you know what I would think?
“This is ridiculously awful.”
It’s normal for artists to hate their art, but the absolute shame I felt about this series stopped me dead in my tracks. I finished the RB 4 act 2 trailer in hopes that it would possibly put these feelings away. It didn’t. The self-consciousness continued.
There is no difference between this series and something a 12 year old would cobble together with their crappy camcorder. There is nothing that makes this series special. It’s like going to work and finding out that this entire time, I’ve been in my underwear.
With all due respect for the BIONICLE community, there is some not-good stuff out there that the community has made. I lump this series in with that content. If Reviving Bionicle only got 10, 100, or even 1000 views I would quietly end the series here, and I would be pretty sad about it.
But against all odds it seems that the one thing that keeps it away from the bad stuff is its viewer-base. The amount of comments and messages I get from people who legitimately love this series, think it’s good and want more blows me away every time I get it. How the literal hell do so many people like this?
I’m not a good writer. I’m painfully mediocre. A friend told me that, and they’re right. But so many people commend the writing specifically. I wish I knew what they saw in this series.
So, in conclusion, I will continue Reviving Bionicle. I want to, and I mean it. I’ve just never felt more deflated. If you all weren’t here, it would be over. But you all see something that I don’t.
Thank you for that.
Man, I know how this feels. I play guitar and write from time to time, and I understand that what you make might seem like dogshit when you compare it to something else. But you have no idea how much this series means to me and so many other people out there in the community. You aren't a bad writer, quite the opposite actually. And you don't need a top tier budget or animation to make something people enjoy. Hell, look at something simplistic like south park. Anyways, As long as you keep making Bionicle videos, I'll keep watching them. Thank you, for the time you put in to them.
Carrying the Torch
So, I’ve been thinking about this the last couple of years, and I wanna make a statement. We have to accept things as they are folks, and it looks like constraction is either on an indefinite hiatus, or may simply be dead. We’ve gotten no updates, no teasers, and no confirmation of anything constraction related in a long while, and after Bionicle II died, and CCBS Star wars did poorly, I think it might be safe to say that at present, Lego has no plans for these things in the future. This is difficult for many of us to accept. Bionicle was a huge part of our lives, and to see the entire genre go the way of the dinosaurs is kind of heart wrenching. This is our childhoods we’re talking about, here. I tried to remain optimistic throughout the trilogy (no I don’t count Chima) of CCBS lines, but let’s be real here, it’s been a goddamned downhill slope. Lego just doesn’t seem to know what to do with it’s constraction IPs anymore, and many of us are wondering how the hell they could’ve forgotten Bionicle’s success and what made it so good and appealing, but regardless, here we are. We’;ve arrived at a cliff. At the same time this has been going on, Bionicle’s community has been fucking deteriorating. It’s not just Tumblr. There’s been infighting, there’s been separation, and there are greater issues that I really, just really don’t want to get into here. People are just fucking leaving the fandom left and right. And I am here to finally say: I’m. Not. Going to. I’m fucking staying right here. To the end. Ya’ll motherfuckers are gonna have to fucking shove me off the cliff. I’m not fucking moving. I will stay here and keep the torch of Bionicle’s legacy burning until I am the last person who remembers it. I will be that guy. I will never quit. I will be a fandom of one if I have to. I don’t think it’ll have some symbolism to it, any fucking greater impact, but uh, you motherfuckers can just fucking leave, I’m staying right in me chair. Ya can’t make me go, guys. Bionicle is important to me. This fandom is important to me. I will stay. I will keep the torch burning.
There's that 14B2020 thing rolling around Christian Faber's Instagram, but I'd take it with a grain of salt at best. There is that ideas set that recently made 10,000, and it looks promising, but that would be it. Just that one set. It is a loving tribute if you ask me though. I'm not sure if we'll ever see new Bionicle anything ever again, but I'm ok with that if that's how it goes. I'd rather a franchise go out with some dignity still left then be run into the ground I guess. Basically what I mean by that is if Bionicle were return once again in some form (be it system, contraction, a movie, etc) I want it to be done right. I liked G2 for what it was, but I think the general consensus is that it was a bit half baked at best, and didn't have the marketing behind it that it needed to survive. Who knows, maybe Bionicle isn't meant for today's climate. Time will tell.
Is there a market for bionicle video reviews? I've been thinking about doing something with my collection other than displaying them, I just don't know if it's worth the time. Yeah, I know Eljay reviewed every set, but still. Anyone remember Azard3 on YouTube? He maybe wasn't the most direct and certainly not child appropriate (but let's be real, all us bonkle fans are getting up there), but those reviews were entertaining. Watch his gadunka review if you haven't seen any. There's probably no point in trying to put them on YouTube with the whole coppa thing going on anyway, but maybe there's an alternative.
In August I promised a small scene of episode 1 in September. Well I’m a little late, but here it is. Not only does it set up one of the plot-lines of episode 1, but it introduces a new character.
I’m sorry for the vague release window, but even though I’m actually kicking ass and making progress, I’m not even sure if I can make it to November. We’ll see by the end of this month.
Things may be re-shot, dialogue might get cleaned up, and color grading is still being determined. Keep that in mind.
Sounds like kopaka forgot to take his 12 doses of prozac this morning

Took to bricklink to resurrect this little guy I MOCed up years ago, this time with consistent colors. There still hasn’t been an official model after all these years, so here’s my take on it.
So when you were on Voya Nui, did you ever hear any of the Piraka... err... sing?
Not… necessarily…
Unfortunately for us though, they were blasting this from the speakers in their base the whole time.
Bionicle
Anyone a fan of Bionicles? Casue I’d like to post some pics of the few MOCs I have. Would that be ok?
Go for it my dude

Good news!
All of the files on my hard drive have been recovered, and I have all of Anonymous’s footage again!
Someone graciously donated the exact amount of money needed for me to send my hard drive in and recover the data. It was a long process but everything is back now!
I have finals on monday, and then almost immediately after that I’m going to start work on bionicle stuff. I wanna be able to contribute to this community again, it’s been too long.
Expect Anonymous this summer for sure!
Looking forward to it, thanks to whoever did that. That’s pretty sweet!
I just thought the bionicle fandom would like to know I have a strain called Mataro Blue. I know it’s not quite Matoro, but his mask *is* grey/blue, so… yeah :)
Bongs out for matoro

Thoughts on 2009?
2009 seems to be a pretty polarizing year in bionicle terms. I noticed a lot of people list it as their least favorite year (besides 05). So out of curiosity since there's not much else to talk about right now, what do you think? Love it or hate it? I personally think it had some pretty rad sets, but that's just me.
