OHHHH MAN this is always such a fascinating question to me, I love thinking about the mindtrap and its aftermath.
It's an unpopular opinion in fandom, but I'll die on the hill that I think Quirin would have the easiest time forgiving Cassandra because of his experience with Varian. Cass isn't that much older than his son (and at Quirin's age, they're both babies to him) and he sees Varian in her; they committed many of the same serious crimes against the kingdom and were both forgiven and given a second chance.
Similarly, I think Quirin would feel immense gratitude that Rapunzel, as queen, is kinder and more willing to let go of the past so people can redeem themselves. With his perspective and knowing about Varian's experience, maybe Quirin is also better able to understand how a difficult relationship with her father and feeling betrayed by the princess could push Cassandra to do what she did. Again, she and Var are similar. Of course he's not going to welcome Cass with open arms post-series or instantly forgive her, but I think Quirin is the best equipped to see the big picture and realize she can change and become her best self.
Adira seems very pragmatic, to me. I think she's wise and worldly enough to understand that her and Hector's forgiveness isn't a requisite for Cassandra redeeming herself, and punishing her wouldn't bring justice or healing. If Cass is able to grow as a person and do good in the world as a knight or adventurer, Adira would respect that- but I don't think she would want to have any sort of contact or relationship with her even so.
Honestly, I think Adira could probably forgive Cass taking the moonstone? But not her use of the mindtrap. The mind control is too big a violation of bodily autonomy.
Of the three of them, I think Hector would unsurprisingly have the hardest time making peace with what happened and moving on. I don't think he could ever forgive Cassandra, and he would resent that she was allowed to just walk away after what she did. He's too intensely loyal and his way of thinking is too black and white.
I think he would barely, barely be able to maintain civility and refrain from attacking her on sight, but only because he knows how important Corona is as an ally to the Dark Kingdom and he doesn't want to jeopardize that diplomatic relationship. He also doesn't want to be the weak link and disappoint Edmund by lashing out- although I think there's a part of him that would be hurt and confused that the others seem so willing to let it go when he was a victim.
Something I also don't see mentioned often- Hector also attacked the group and nearly killed them at the Great Tree, and he's never held accountable or punished for it. I think being allowed to have a fresh start goes both ways, and with time maybe (big maybe) Hector would be able to appreciate that.
You saw my old doodle dump post w/ Moon Cass being mean to Hector lmao, and in an AU (alternate universe) with a darker tone where she was crueler to him and/or Adira while they were in captivity, obviously there'd be more trauma to deal with and a longer recovery process.
Even in more canon-compliant takes though, there's a lot of fun angst potential even just on a surface level. 👁️👁️

When I started this drawing, I knew I wanted to draw a dynamic pose fitting for her character &her finale outfit as we saw so little of it. I actually had no idea what to do for the background at first &I struggled like crazy with her sword. But, in all honesty, I am pretty proud of how it came out. >:3
I wanted to know, how did you come up with the Quirin x Adira x Hector pairing?
Could you describe what you think their dynamic would be like? How would they get along with Varian, or how would he react to their relationship? Do you have any headcanons about this pairing?
Hi!! I'm so happy to get this ask!! It's not often that I have the chance to gush abt my favorite rare pair LMAO
So, I originally started shipping Hector and Adira because they seemed like old flames to me- their interactions in "Rapunzel and the Great Tree" felt very charged/loaded. But I also saw chemistry with Hector and Quirin, and also Adira and Quirin… and then it just kind of turned into all three of them in a relationship. C:
This reply got long, but tl;dr is I feel like they complete each other and balance each other out really well. They have a unique shared history, and they're some of the only people who can understand each other and their experiences. There's a very deep level of comfort and familiarity that exists between them.
Quirin has spent his life trying to bury his past; he keeps everything about his old home locked in a chest, bricked up behind a wall. It's possible (and a valid interpretation) that he wanted to leave it all behind, but I personally think a big part of why he hid everything was for his and Varian's safety. He wanted them to start fresh without his past or the black rocks haunting them.
Hector and Adira coming back into his life gives him back his connection to the Dark Kingdom. He doesn't have to suppress that entire part of himself anymore. He can finally talk about who he was and where he came from; they can joke, reminisce about the good times and the bad times, and relate to the diaspora experience. He has friends and neighbors, but he realizes how much he's missed that.
Maybe Adira remembers the recipe for a traditional soup or baked good from the Dark Kingdom that Quirin never learned to make but always missed; tasting it again transports him back home. Hearing Hector refer to a constellation by its traditional Dark Kingdom name instead of the Coronan one Quirin has gotten used to is a small moment that feels like more. And Quirin hasn't picked up a sword in decades, but Hector and Adira convince him to train with them, and he surprises himself with how natural it feels to practice together and spar even after so long.
On the other hand, Quirin provides Hector and Adira with stability. In the time that they've spent searching for the sundrop or stationed at the tree, he's settled down and built a life for himself- he's a part of a community. In a post-series AU where they stay in Old Corona (or at least spend more time visiting him while working on restoring the Dark Kingdom), I like to imagine that he helps them reintegrate into society.
Maybe Quirin helps Hector find some odd jobs that suit his talents with animals around the village, or he puts in a good word for Adira at the castle so she can provide some coaching for the royal guard. Hector and Adira dedicated their lives to the moonstone/sundrop, and with it gone, there's something of a void- they need to find a new sense of purpose. Quirin already went through that process, and it's something he can help with.
(He also has a lot of experience doing damage control for Varian in the village- I think he could handle their quirks and mediate their abrasive tendencies no problem LMAO)
In daily life, I think their dynamic tends to be that Quirin is the responsible one, while Hector and Adira are more spontaneous. Quirin anchors the other two- they help him live a little and add some excitement to his life. Quirin spends his morning making a chore chart for the pumpkin harvest, Hector decides they should all go skinnydipping in a nearby creek instead, and Adira's already packing a picnic with wine sort of dynamic LMAO
But for real, especially once Varian starts to spend more of his time at the capitol, I imagine Quirin is something of an empty nester, and it's a welcome relief to have Hector and Adira around to help fill his days.
I haven't talked much about how I think Varian would respond to his dad entering a new relationship- honestly, I like the thought that he would have complicated feelings, at least at first. Quirin is a widower, and it's hard when your single parent remarries.
I think Varian's immediate reaction might be confusion and uncertainty- wondering "what about mom?", and that's pretty natural.
But to me, part of growing up is realizing that your parents are human too, and I think ultimately Var would want his dad to be happy. The show implies Quirin becomes more emotionally available and works on his communication skills, and after a heart to heart about how Quirin will always love and miss Varian's mom, I think he would warm up to the idea of his dad rekindling a relationship. I also think it'd make him happy to learn more about his heritage and to see his dad open up about his past!
Hector and Adira being extremely cool helps a lot- they're strong, intimidating knights from a mysterious kingdom, they have swords and exotic animals, and they're more than happy to teach him how to fight, how to speak their language, etc. I think he'd be a bit starstruck and they'd get along well. I think the three of them causing chaos together would also probably give Quirin a heart attack LMAO. (In my mind, Varian 100% helps with the rebuilding effort in the Dark Kingdom using his inventions!)
Sorry this ask got so long, there's honestly more I could say still- I just have a lot of feelings about the Brotherhood's potential as a pairing. It bums me out that treating them as siblings is the default approach and by far the most popular view in the fandom. It's a really complex, multi-faceted relationship that has the potential for a ton of range.
