eat well, exercise, build muscle, get an education/training, make and save as much money as you can, learn to be direct and firm with your boundaries, wear comfortable and practical clothes, ditch the beauty rituals, put your health above your looks, read, question everything, choose yourself and other women always
not really a good update but oh well
i think i am done with the person i asked for help earlier this month. they know about "the hole" and i thought this whole time (about 5 years) that they had been truly empathetic over it, but realistically, i think they have actually been treating me differently for it, in ways that have been too hurtful for me to accept without splintering. im taking it better than i thought i guess. still very alone in the world, alone with my hole.

Many places have a "forest that shouldn't be entered." Even people who are used to working in the mountains feel there is something there. They are suddenly overcome with fear and it becomes the custom to avoid certain places. These places exist. I don't know what is there, but I think they are real . . . The world is more than we can fathom with our five senses. The world doesn't exist just for humans. So I think it is all right to have such things. This is why I think it's a mistake to think about nature from the idea of efficiency, that forests should be preserved because they are essential for human beings . . . I am concerned, because for me the deep forest is connected in some way to the darkness deep in my heart. I feel that if it is erased, then the darkness inside my heart would also disappear, and my existence would grow shallow.

The three women—McKinley, Carter, and Lee—who have extended the tale into fantasy and science fiction have focused more than any other writers on the kinship between Beauty and the Beast. Their concept of the relationship is not so much the romantic courtship of old, as a deeper connection out of loneliness for both characters. Since the Beast is obviously an alien to society already, it is Beauty on whom they concentrate, a person who seems to have been tailored for social fitness but in fact feels alienated or isolated (although both McKinley and Lee’s sister figures are supportive and never ostracize Beauty). Lee’s Estár (like Gabrielle Villeneuve’s Beauty in the eighteenth century) is not even the merchant’s real daughter, and it is her version that most radically projects the alienation theme to a conclusion of Beauty’s permanent separation from family and Earth environment for her coupling with an untransformed alien.

Egyptian silver fish fertility pendant, circa 1913
Coins and fish commonly represent abundance and prosperity. In Egypt's Abu el-Numrus region, fish-shaped pendants were especially popular and were likely crafted by local Egyptian Jewish jewelers.

most people in my life seems to hate me right now for their own unique reason
even my cat hated me for an hour today after i tried and failed to get him in his carrier to keep him safe during a tornado warning :(
