If someone other than Nicolau were to flirt with Teagan, it'd confuse them and weird them out.

Like, Teagan is so used to people not wanting them around that the thought of multiple people finding them desirable breaks their brain. Hell, it'd take them a while for them to get used to Nicolau finding them desirable and that's their boyfriend.

They'd turn down anyone else's advances (obviously), but they're also not the best at standing up for themselves and they have the tendency to get flustered if someone was touchy feely with them (regardless of whether they want it or not), so they'd hope Nicolau would step in.

My "Teagan singing" headcanons mainly revolve around someone overhearing Teagan sing, but I was pondering whether or not they'd intentionally serenade someone.

They'd have to be pretty close to that person (and so deep in love that they stop feeling self conscious). A lot of their serenading would be gentle and soft, though they'll sometimes sing in a sensual way to try to get Nicolau in The Mood™.

Teagan would also try to surprise Nicolau with a song in Brazilian Portuguese, once they know a song well enough to do that with. (They'd technically know some Portuguese songs before they know the language because of their CD collection, but they'd feel embarrassed if they just started singing a song to Nicolau without knowing what any of the lyrics mean.)

I think it'd be interesting to see Letícia bump heads with Jasper over something business related.

Like—some big business guys are trying to get Jasper on board with a deal that'd make them and his parents a lot of money, but Letícia knows the deal would hurt the locals (perhaps in a way Jasper wouldn't have considered because of his limited experience in The Real World) and she's adamantly against it.

Even though Teagan is much fluffier than Nicolau, they still find Nicolau's chest fluff really nice. They like to press their face into it when they're upset and scritch the chest fluff when Nicolau is napping/cuddling them.

The more I think about the flash flood thing, the more I start to feel like Teagan would leave the apartment to search for Nicolau themselves.

Teagan might have a fear of water, but their fear of losing a loved one would override it. They were powerless to save their parents, but they can save Nicolau. They have to.

I can see the adrenaline rush kicking in, Teagan rushing to the last house they remember Nicolau staying in and meeting Nicolau halfway. They'd take their hoodie off to wrap Nicolau in (since they wouldn't know Nicolau is happy to share the hoodie at this point in their relationship), only for the adrenaline to wear off when they enter their apartment and they're sent into a full panic attack.

Teagan would soooo be the type to steal their boyfriend's clothes...if they weren't twice Nicolau's size.

As...chaotic as Beatriz and Teagan are, I feel like a situation where Jasper is forced to adopt Beatriz for whatever reason would be a lot worse.

In theory, Teagan and Beatriz could work. The main thing from keeping them from doing so is an issue with communication and connection, which could be sorted out if Teagan was willing to open up about their trauma and Beatriz was willing to put her trust in them.

...I can't see Beatriz meshing well with Jasper at all.

Considering Beatriz doesn't even think Teagan is being genuine, Jasper might as well be The Fakest Bitch to Ever Live. There's also the factor of Teagan wanting to be a parent and Jasper...not.

Also, Jasper is even taller than Teagan and he's really lanky, so he's going to come across like the Other Mother to poor Beatriz.

Thinking about this post again now that I've got a better idea of what Beatriz's mom is like.

I get the sense that, in this AU, Renee would abandon Beatriz as an egg by leaving her on the beach. She wouldn't tell Beatriz's father about her or anything because she doesn't want to keep any ties to him. Renee would return home shortly after leaving the egg on the beach. The father would become a crab fisher, not having anything stopping him from taking on such a dangerous job, and possibly die out at sea. If not, he continues going about his life not knowing he has a daughter.

Beatriz is used to doing all the housework when she's sick, so she'd still be cleaning the bathroom and making herself lunch even though she has a throbbing headache and feels like death.

Beatriz's dad would buy crab cakes from the local seafood place for Natal. He used to try and pass them off as something he made, but she eventually saw through it and he stopped trying to hide it.

I love Angsty Adoptive Teen Beatriz, but I also can't help but wonder how a child raised by Teagan and Nicolau would turn out?

On Teagan's end, I feel like they'd be more liable to coddle their kid(s). They want to shower their kid(s) with all of the parental love they were starved of. Teagan would be terrible at discipline. They can't bring themselves to be harsh towards a child—Teagan is afraid of traumatizing them. Being a parent isn't something Teagan would plan for or intentionally try to make happen, but they'd find it so fulfilling. They love seeing their child grow. They would love making their family larger. If they had unlimited energy and money and Nicolau had the patience to deal with it, Teagan would have multiple kids. Maybe not a chaotic house full of children who have to take care of each other, but like...five kids at a time or something. Something a little more manageable.

...but they don't have unlimited money and energy, so one kid is the most they'd feel safe taking on. Maybe two, if Nicolau was willing to put in the work both financially and physically.

So...how would Beatriz be different if she were raised by Teagan from the beginning (or close enough to the beginning where she wouldn't remember having other parents)?

However, conflict still lurks in the distance. Beatriz will know, deep in her bones, that she is meant to be at sea. She needs her surfing and her seafood, but she'd be hesitant. She'd see how much it affects Teagan and feel guilt over being herself. Beatriz wishes she could be someone who doesn't set off Teagan's triggers. She wishes she could be more like Teagan...but she can't. Her fate is sealed.

Beatriz would be much closer to Teagan...at least, at the beginning. She'd crave their attention and they'd be more than happy to give it. Everything seems perfect.

Meanwhile, Teagan has been too preoccupied with family life to properly unpack their trauma. In fact, finding a very tiny Beatriz on the beach would make Teagan want to keep her away from the water even more. They're her protector, her savior. Teagan wouldn't see the damage they're doing to Beatriz because she puts in a lot of effort to hide it from them—eating her beetroot spaghetti without a fuss, trying to find hobbies that won't give Teagan a heart attack, staying far away from the water even though it's beckoning her. A siren's song that could tear her family apart.

Beatriz only breaks down when she believes no one can hear her. She can't bring herself to hurt Teagan—she loves them far too much for that—but the person she feels the most comfortable as makes Teagan ill. She makes Teagan ill. Beatriz wonders if she's more of a curse than a blessing, believing Teagan would be happier if they'd found a "better" kid or never became a parent in the first place.

Even though Letícia appreciates how Jasper can relate to her, it'd still lowkey bother her that people would take Jasper more seriously than her despite being five years older than him and having much more exposure to the outside world than him. She would be hesitant to bring it up to him because she's glad Jasper is being taken seriously at all and she doesn't want to ruin things with her best friend, but she will cry in frustration about it when she thinks no one is looking.

If more kids went to Teagan for help than they could reasonably handle, they'd send the kids Jasper's way because he's supposedly soooo nice. Surely, that means he's willing to adopt a bunch of random kids. What kind of monster would turn them away?

More Beatriz Headcanons

Beatriz's mother is from New Zealand. Beatriz has a bit of an accent from her. Her mother is still alive, she just went back to New Zealand and started another family. She may or may not take her new child to Brazil for an art expo and absolutely crush Beatriz's heart.

Her mother also had a habit of disappearing and coming back, which contributes to Beatriz being in denial about her mother being gone for good.

Beatriz hasn't officially started surfing yet (she was too busy managing things on her own), but she'd want to go into it once Teagan and Nicolau allow her to have enough stability to enjoy her life.

Beatriz would totally get red streaks in her hair and excitedly show them off to Nicolau.

Beatriz's father was a fisherman, who supplied fish to the fish shop Teagan had to wear the fish suit for.
