“Why would you want to feel regret about it? I feel happy about it especially after learning we have a kid together. I wasn’t happy with Nikki and so you have nothing to feel guilty about.” Nick shrugged because he could be fine without Nikki in his life but knew Brie felt differently. “Why don’t you talk to her? You two have a sister day trying to work it out? It’s not like she wants me and she should be able to forgive us if that’s why she’s mad.” Nick had been stupid and blinded by Nikki and her flirting but not anymore.

“Because I slept with my sisters boyfriend. My twin sister. That’s even more against the rules than if you slept with one of your brother’s lovers. Plus it turned my entire family against me. I should feel bad but I don’t because if they can’t get over themselves after all this time than we’re better off without them.” Brie took a deep breath and sighed, “I could try but I’m not sure I want to. I’m tired of always being the one to cave.”

Nick never saw himself as the love of Nikki’s life. “Nikki is a woman of possessions. I know you know I’m right even if you don’t want to say it. She wants what she can’t have or wants it till she has it and then she ignores it or treats it like it’s a afterthought. You’re not like her.” Brie might be Nikki’s twin but she was nothing like the man eating, arrogant, money driven sister of her. “I don’t want her back if that’s what you think or anyone thinks. I’m happy with you and our family.”

Brie leaned over and kissed him on the cheek before squeezing his hand. “I know you are. It’s strange. Sometimes I feel guilty because I don’t regret what happened with us. I hate that for whatever reasons my sister is hurt and my family turned their backs on us but how can I regret something that gave me my daughter. Our daughter.” Tucking her hair behind her ear she shrugged. “I’ve always wanted this. A family sure but you. Since the day we met. I think that’s why Nikki went after you. She knew I wanted you and you were so stupid.” She laughed.

There was nothing better than being a father and reconnecting with Brie. The only thing that was bothering Nick was the fact that Nikki had shown up and was attacking Brie verbally. He knew Brie could handle herself but she shouldn’t have to. Nikki needed to act like a grown woman and move on. He looked over at Brie and sighed. “Can you two have a loser has to not talk for a year? I mean not one word but make sure you win.” He laughed but knew the situation wasn’t ideal.

Brie sighed as she watched Birdie playing in the corner with her dolls. “I don’t like it anymore than you do. I would love to just beat her and get this whole thing over with. I’m not excusing what we did but she acts like I stole the love of her life from her. She wasn’t exactly nice to you, half the time it seemed like she hated you. She for sure wasn’t in love. She’s just pissed I took something from her and now I’m happy and have a family and she’s still a bitter B.I.T.C.H.”
