Everything’s smol. Smol enough for a bird to carry around. Except maybe the key.

Please just imagine a bird carrying around a teeny tiny tablet and a super smol stylus.

The santa hat is his clothes, probably. He’s happy, and it can double as a nest on-the-go.

The bracelet probably fits around Hibird’s neck like the cameras did when he was under Birds’s command (click for example!).

No headaches, since shapeshifting is an active power and he has no passives, but if he does try to shift, imagine how much nausea a bird can get from a human-sized injection.

     “ Hi-bar-i…? ”

   Kai blinks and watches the little bird chirp such an odd phrase so happily through his mirror. Kai has to wonder if that is the little bird’s name. Most ordinary birds didn’t call themselves anything. But this obviously is no ordinary canary. And from the looks of it, this little one seemed rather young, so perhaps it’s just gibberish.

      Kai smiles regardless and raises his hand to very gently rub his index finger over the canary’s head. It’s so soft. Kai strokes his finger gently down its’ back and back up to its head, giving a soft chirp himself.

   “ Hee hee~ So cute. Is that your name little one? My name is Kai~ ♪ …Say, are you hungry? I think I have a snack in my pocket for a cute little canary like yourself~ ”

     ⧼ “Kai! Kai!” ⧽

It was easy enough to say, better than stringing together several different syllables to form a sentence- and the incentive of food helped. Hibird hadn’t noticed how hungry he was, but flying around an entire island had taken quite some energy, so a snack sounded just wonderful.

He hopped lower, not yet into Kai’s hand but rather his shoulder, pressing warmly against his neck as if asking for a treat.

      It’s been getting warmer as of late, the sun shining brightly down onto Haku’s silk white beaches. Kai gains a lot more energy in direct sunlight, like a rechargeable battery on the constant go. It’s welcoming and he’d rather be outside than cooped up in a house out in the middle of the sea.

   Seashells are gathered in his arms, along with a few flowers he had found not too far off from the shores. Little assortments of things that would be turned into some kind of decor back home.

      –But he nearly drops his cargo when something plops right on top of his head. At first he thinks he’s been hit, but when a squeaky little voice starts singing, Kai is instantly delighted. He retrieves a compact mirror with one hand to take a better look and oh my god. He’s never seen such a cute little bird.

   “ Aww… that’s a pretty song~♪ You have a good voice, Mister Canary~ ”

Hibird’s proud of the compliment- of course it’s a pretty song, it’s the anthem of his school, but the words make him happy nonetheless.

    ⧼ “HIBARI! HIBARI!” ⧽

Now was one of those times that Hibird regretted only learning how to say a handful of words in his canary form, unable to converse properly with the kind guy currently complimenting him, but he hopes he can get the point across, the point in question being who had taught him to sing so well.

It wasn’t often that Hibari went somewhere that Hibird wasn’t allowed to follow- he was a mafia bird, born and bred, after all, even if Hibari didn’t know it himself, and could hold his own in dangerous situations, even if that simply meant flying away. However, during those odd circumstances where his cloud didn’t let him take part in whatever he was up to, Hibird often found himself nestled among the paperwork, watching Kusakabe keep up with disciplinary committee duties.

Still, there was only so much nesting one bird could do, and after a few minutes of napping on a particularly fidgety day, he hopped over to Kusakabe’s side to tug on his sleeve- a silent inquiry as to whether there was anything for Hibird to do for him.

Well this was an odd-looking shop- Hibird had heard of ‘maid cafes’ before, but they weren’t exactly a place Hibari would ever go, and so Hibird tended to stay away as well, which left him completely unaware of the implications of such a store. However, there seemed to be a job opening, and he was good at serving people (or so he assumed his years of being under Bird and Hibari made him such), so the obvious choice was to check and see what the atmosphere inside was like.

     ⧼ “Excuse me, is anybody here? I’m here for the flyer in the window-?” ⧽

Hibird thought he could just flap around the islands and visit each one in a single day, but Solitude was bigger than he thought, and his bird form was still just a small canary. So really, he had managed a loop around Haku Island before looking at the strait between it and Ikaika and had promptly decided that he would have better luck taking a ferry across to the next island.

And that was why, five minutes later, he was lazily nestled in somebody’s hair - not Hibari’s, but it was good enough - quietly chirping his usual song.

Hello, everyone !! It’s heck-all o’ clock in the morning, but would you mind reblogging and/or liking this post if  you wouldn’t mind RPing with an AU SHIFTER HIBIRD ?? This sweet summer chickadee is affiliated with Wishful Crossing but I also want to get some interactions with the indie part of the KHR fandom !!

This won’t do. Albeit the beautiful scenery his newly appointed beach house provided, Hibari was still boiling with rage after his previous encounter with Mukuro Rokudo. To make matters worse, it seems he was soon to be paired with a form of ‘roommate’.

True enough Hibari would rather spend his time outside watching the clouds fly by instead of indoors like most middle schoolers, but he rather have his own space even if he wouldn’t be in there.

He was beyond annoyed at this point. By now Hibird would’ve flown by and helped calm his master by singing the Namimori anthem he loved so much, but the little guy was no were to be found.

With too much on his mind and not enough ways to distract himself he waits at the door of his house, ready to kick out whoever the poor soul was that got paired with him.

Hibird should have noticed when the door was opening, and really, he should have poofed back into his usual form - his more avian one - when he did, but he did neither of those things, and that’s why he’s caught off guard.

In fact, he’s halfway through raiding the fridge (full of chocolate! potato chips! things that he couldn’t have as a bird!) when he turns around and sees the door open, just in time for Hibird to swallow what he has in his mouth and chirp in alarm.

Still as a human.
