uhm “I’m not letting you sleep on the floor, get up here.” with Benji on a mission with the reader? something cute where they gotta pretend theyre married, that kinda situation ;))
+ Anon: "You’re not sleeping on the floor, get up here.“ With reader and benji on a mission, pretending to be married. romantic/sexual tension between these two dorks until they both need to sleep and Benj being a gentleman.
A/N: I don’t think there’s much romantic/sexual tension in this, and it’s not the best thing I’ve ever written… but I’m posting it anyway because I’ll just overthink it if I don’t. So here.
While you’re showering in the hotel bathroom, Benji makes himself a bed on the floor consisting of a blanket he found in one of the cupboards, two couch pillows and two other cushions he found on top. He’s standing at the foot of it, looking quite proud of his creation, when you wander out of the bathroom, dressed in your pyjamas.
It’s only the first day of the mission where the two of you have to pretend to be a married couple, and having a hotel room that contained only one bed was part of the mission. Even though the two of you weren’t really working when you were in the hotel room, Ethan had wanted to make the relationship seem as real as possible. Which meant one bed.
“Oh, man, that was the best shower I’ve ever had,” you mutter, wandering over to the actual bed in the room and sitting down on the edge of it. “I think I’m gonna steal the shower head.”
Benji chuckles and sits down on the arm of the couch. “Yeah, it is a nice shower, I’ll give you that,” he agrees. He glances over at the clock above the bed. 10:47pm. Bedtime. “Anything else we need to get organised tonight for tomorrow? Otherwise I might head off to sleep.”
You think it over for a second before shaking your head. “No, I don’t think so. I’m pretty sure it’s all organised. We need to be up early, though, so I’m gonna set an alarm.”
He nods and moves to sit down on the couch pillow bed. “Right, well, then. I’ll see you in the morning!” He smiles. “Sleep well.”
He’s about to lay down when you furrow your eyebrows and notice the makeshift bed on the ground. “Uh, Benji, what are you doing?” You ask, confused. “There’s a bed here, you know…?
“I know,” Benji looks over at you. “But I’m letting you have that to yourself. I don’t want to intrude. I’ll be fine on the floor. This is actually quite comfortable. These couch pillows are pretty good to lay on,” he explains, smiling. He pats the pillows when he finishes speaking.
You, however, are having none of it. In reply, you tap the other side of the bed. “No, I’m not letting you sleep on the floor, get up here,” you say.. Benji opens his mouth to say something else, but you cut him off. “I’m not having any of it, Benjamin Dunn, now get your ass up here and in this bed before I drag you up here. You’re sleeping in this bed with me.”
Benji sighs, and then laughs softly before standing up and walking around to the other side of the bed. He lays down against the pillows and turns to you, raising an eyebrow. “Happy?”
“Ecstatic,” you grin in reply. “You’ll be much more comfortable up here. And it’ll be good for the mission, you know? If we can sleep in the same bed, it’ll be more believable when we’re pretending. Didn’t Ethan say that being close makes it seem more real?”
He nods. “Yeah, something like that,” Benji hums. Truly, he doesn’t mind sleeping in the same bed as you. Even being in the same room as you makes his heart beat a little faster. Sleeping on the floor would have been easier. But here he is, sitting next to you in the same bed. About to sleep beside you.
Benji clears his throat and slips underneath the covers. At this point, he can only hope that he won’t end up accidentally spooning or cuddling you in the middle of the night. Because even though he’d like to do that, and even though Ethan said that being close makes it more real, he’s not up for embarrassing himself like that.
“Well… goodnight,” he smiles.
You smile back over at him. “Sleep well, Benji,” you mutter. “Love you, husband.”
Benji laughs. “Love you too, wife.”
He turns over, burying his head in the pillow so you can’t see him blush.
