Man is born free; and everywhere he is in chains. One thinks himself the master of others, and still remains a greater slave than they.

Never give up on someone with a mental illness. When “I” is replaced by “WE”, illness becomes wellness.

the worst thing you could is tame the chaos in you. it’s like being told not to feel when you’re thrown in the fire.

I cannot stand the words “get over it.” All of us are under such pressure to put our problems in the past tense. Slow down. Don’t allow others to hurry your healing. It is a process, one that may take years, occasionally, even a lifetime — and that’s okay.
Beau Taplin (via asking-jude)
eMoods: (an app for tracking bipolar moods) My review:
As a young individual living with bipolar disorder, I constantly look for tools to help me cope. When I first downloaded eMoods via suggestion of my mother, who heard about it through facebook or something, I was naturally very skeptical. I mean what can an app really do to help me? I tried it. I hated it- At first. Having to remember to log my sleeping schedule, anxiety, elevated and/or depressed moods, and psychotic symptoms of each day on a scale from none, to mild, to severe... That in itself was exhausting. I didn’t like looking at my week and seeing how severely or mildly I was being, well me. Because I’ve not been just me without being bipolar or bipolar without being me. It looks like a really sad painting of dark and darker blues all over my calendar the weeks I felt like dying and others it’s a beautiful light and pale blue sky on the weeks I felt like flying. I slowly started to gain routine and habit for this simple little app on my phone. I thought one day about deleting it because “it really doesn’t do anything for me” or “it doesn’t really serve a purpose to me.” But I realized I was looking at it all wrong- I haven’t really learned to accept that I’ll always be this way, I probably never will, there has to be something I am missing, something my counselors are missing, and doctors haven’t discovered yet that will help me be “normal” without medication. It may sound silly, but I think I’ve actually just been searching for a cure in all of these “tools” that I find to help myself cope. So when I downloaded this app I had already subconsciously assigned it an unaccomplishable task. Really, this app doesn’t do much, it certainly hasn’t magically made me a normal person, I am still bipolar, but I can’t honestly say I haven’t changed because of it because I have. I’ve been studying each log I (remember to) make in this app to better understand my particular patterns of elevated and depressive mood and it has actually helped me feel more connected to what I am going through. I can almost sympathize with myself somedays instead of being harsh or negative I have learned how to be kind to myself. So, in conclusion, I guess you’d just have to really give this app a chance and try it before you make up your own mind about it. I can’t tell you it will help, or not help, or just take up space on your phone until you delete it, all I know is, I don’t want to delete anytime soon.
~Sincerely hope this helps someone.
im a very hungry bean today
yes.
coffee is everything to me.
on my first date with happiness, i decided i had enough of oversized black tshirts and loose black jeans so i threw on a yellow sundress, which i found after passing through my closet like a raging hurricane; as always, i was running late. on my first date with happiness, i decided i was going to let her fall in love with my natural self so i put down my concealer, mascara, lipstick and eyeliner. and i ornament myself with rings and necklaces, a spray of flowery, sweet perfume. on my first date with happiness, i decided i was going to let her in so i told her my everything, i was afraid, of course but i knew i would have to, at least, give her a chance to get to know me, i would have to give my tired self a chance to stop being a fucking liar. on my first date with happiness, i said: “hey, my name is sadness. but i want to learn to be happy again.” on my first date with happiness, i let a little bit of life reach my insides after a whole long time of having myself against myself.
