The Sly 1 racing minigames are funny in hindsight, because I’m pretty sure they’re only time the Cooper Gang competes in contests without cheating. In Sly 2 & 3, Bentley always just has the gang sabotage their competitors [the lumberjack games, the holland plane competition, etc.]

Crack Headcanon: this is because the van minigames are planned solely between Sly and Murray, who are both too honorable.

Murray: “These dogs want me to race them three times around a track for a key :(.”

Sly: “here’s my strategy: get in there and drive your best! It's all you man. Drive the van with the left analog stick, and if you manage to pick up any nitro power-ups, you can get a boost by pressing the square button. Go get 'em! I’m sure you can win this and prove you’re truly and fairly the better driver.”

Bentley if he were involved: “slash their tires”

over the years i have firmly swung back to "mike and lucy SHOULD make up and i WANT to see them together again" i do understand it feeling completely hopeless atp that there could be any sort of reconciliation, but thats the point. thats what i like about it. and thats why they should reconcile. bcb is a Lot about how terrible and messy people can be, and how they are still capable of being better and deserving of good things despite it. this is true for how it portrays relationships as well, and as someone whos had very very rocky friendships that somehow made it out to the other side, im just like. i want mike and lucy to make it out to the other side. i believe they can do it. bcb is, to me at least, trying to say that at any point, no matter how bad things get, you can make it better. you can DO better. they just need to work themselves out a bit more lmao (ie lucy actually being vulnerable and mike letting go of sandy)
