GREAT LEADERS LEAD!

“You shall observe to do therefore as the LORD your God has commanded you: you shall not turn aside to the right hand or to the left.”  (Deuteronomy 5:32)

Great leaders will find a way even when the odds are saying they can’t pull it off.  Every team needs a leader who is not afraid of the moment, someone that has the "it" factor and is willing to take on the responsibility of making difficult decisions. The average person will mostly likely crumble when not meeting a deadline or the handouts did not arrive in time for the company meeting.  

Leadership looks easy to the onlooker.  I’m sure many people have had these thoughts, "That’s all they do;" or "I could have done that."  What they might not be aware of is all the pressures and stressors and late nights that leaders have to endure for the team.  All successful leaders have taken a hit for the team.  Whether it’s in politics, professional sports, ministry or the workplace, the demand and the bar has been set high for overachieving.  I guarantee you for every successful company or team that has been to the "Promised Land," they have a unique individual(s) with special skills, who knows how to get the job.

When you're surrounded by great leadership you have to trust the team the leader is putting together.  Great leadership understands that you have to master the art of people.  If you’re in management you have to check your people skills and ask yourself a question… Am I managing to get along, or am I managing so that the company can turn a profit?  When it comes to the leader’s relationship with his/her coworkers, they have to know how each person thinks and how best to use them.  Think in terms of chess… every wrong move will cost the company dearly.

“It is better to lead from behind and to put others in front, especially when you celebrate victory when nice things occur. You take the front line when there is danger. Then people will appreciate your leadership.”  ~Nelson Mandela

Never be afraid to take the lead and demonstrate that you have what it takes to lead your team.  Team building is both an art and a science, and the leader who can consistently build high performance teams is worth their weight in gold. Always lead from a position of strength.  Never allow anyone on the team to throw you off your game.  When you hold yourself accountable, the team will appreciate your leadership style and techniques.  An apple a day keeps the doctor way.  Rewarding your team and celebrating the team's successes will boost morale and push the team forward.  Great leadership is priceless!

GRATEFULNESS IS A CHOICE…  CHOOSE WISELY!

LIVE IN YOUR GRATEFUL SPACE!

“And let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, to which indeed you were called in one body. And be thankful. Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly, teaching and admonishing one another in all wisdom, singing psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, with thankfulness in your hearts to God. And whatever you do, in word or deed, do everything in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.”  (Colossians 3:15-17)

When was the last time you really took time out to ponder the things for which you are grateful?  When was the last time you took a journey down memory lane, exhaled and said thank you, Father, for the air I breathe; for the joy I have, for life and for turning my life turned?  

Scientific research has proven that grateful people are happy people.  A grateful person is always appreciative when receiving benefits; the size or amount is never the issue.  There is a lot to be said about an individual who is thankful and really means it from the heart.  So often we encounter many people who possess just the opposite attitude.  Not only are they not grateful, but they want to make you pay a price for something someone else did to them.

When a person is not grateful there usually is nothing anyone can really do to make them happy.  They constantly complain and find fault wherever they can.  If the weather forecast says rain all next week, they immediately jump into complaining mode, instead of enjoying the sunshine of the present week. A person who is not grateful is dangerous when you’re trying to share the good news and excitement of what’s happening in your life.  I think we all have made that infamous phone call to an individual that we knew was grumpy and negative, and mistakenly thought that the good news we had to share with them would change their countenance.

Now, there is a difference between being polite and being grateful.  Politeness can be confused with gratefulness.  Both are very good qualities to have, even though they can operate individually and independently.  

Politeness is opening the car door for your date and letting her sit down first.   Gratefulness is the capacity to feel blessed and honored that she would even consider going on a date with you.  

Politeness is shaking the hand of the interviewer when the job interview has ended.  Gratefulness is thanking the person just for the opportunity to be interviewed for the job.  

Politeness encompasses good manners, having respect for other people and being socially correct, a necessary tool in building long and lasting relationships in both your business and your personal life.  

A grateful person has to dig a little deeper within and push past what could appear to be fake.  The power of being grateful is you appreciate and respect the kind acts of others towards you, no matter how big or how small.  You appreciate everything that God is doing in your life, that which you understand and that which you don't understand.  Gratefulness is not having to prove anything to anyone.  Being totally grateful allows you to be comfortable in your own skin.  Gratefulness is a game changer and a difference maker!

CHANGE YOUR LISTENING… AND IMPROVE YOUR CHANCES TO SUCCEED!

"Now, O Israel, listen to the statutes and the judgments which I am teaching you to perform, so that you may live and go in and take possession of the land which the LORD, the God of your fathers, is giving you.”  (Deuteronomy 4:1)

Success is not an entitlement!  I am amazed when people approach me and share their stories on why things aren’t working in their favor.  It’s almost without question that they seem to find fault in what others did NOT do, instead of looking in the mirror and asking the important question, "Why isn’t this working?" 

After hearing so many stories (or should I say excuses) the common attitude is, "I am entitled to… the job, the car, the house, the promotion," whatever it may be.  However, this cannot be the approach one should have when seeking greater in life.  If you convince yourself that are deserving or entitled to certain privileges without doing the work, you are deceiving yourself. I can almost guarantee that if this way of thinking continues to exist and occupy space in your mind, you will live a frustrated and disappointed life.

Oftentimes, we get stuck in a familiar paradigm.  Breaking negative, unproductive habits and behaviors that have ruled our lives for such a long time could seem impossible.  All of us have heard at least one person in our lifetime say, "This is just how I am, and I’m not going to change."  What is really being said is, "I will remain this way because I don’t see a way out."  

Many of our adult behaviors and attitudes that thwart our success can be attributed to the way we were raised. If you grew up hearing, "It’s not how hard you work or how much you apply yourself that matters; just because you woke up this morning breathing you are entitled to and should have what others have labored so hard for," you can get stuck in a paradigm that causes you to believe that you are entitled to success without doing the work.  It’s time to change how you listen! 

“You can make positive deposits in your own economy every day by reading and listening to powerful, positive, life-changing content and by associating with encouraging and hope-building people.”  ~Zig Ziglar

Listening plays a major role in being a great leader.  From the best athlete, to the company CEO, great listening skills builds team confidence, loyalty and productivity.  One of the first steps towards correction is admitting that the old paradigm must be destroyed.  It’s that day of reckoning when you come face to face with the "old you" so that the "new you" can emerge.  

Life will guarantee you whatever you decide.  I want to challenge you today to put yourself in position to hear and see something new, something fresh, something revealing.  Jimmy Cliff said it best:   “I can see clearly now the rain is gone.  I can see all obstacles in my way.  Gone are the dark clouds that had me blind.  It’s gonna be a bright (bright) bright (bright) sunshiny day.  It’s gonna be a bright (bright) bright (bright) sunshiny day.”  

When you make the commitment to improve your listening, success is guaranteed!

OVERCOMING LIFE’S ADVERSITIES TO WIN THE CROWN!

“Fight the good fight of faith, lay hold on eternal life, whereunto thou art also called, and hast professed a good profession before many witnesses.”  (1 Timothy 6:12)

If it were easy, then anyone could just wake up in the morning, blink their eyes and make it happen.  Success cannot be put in a microwave, push a few buttons and there it is.  When success shows up at our door it is a result of countless hours of sacrifice, hard work and dedication.  As the song writer wrote, “Nobody told me the road would be easy!” The road paved for success comes with obstacles and hurdles that we know not of.  

Success is the ability to fight through personal and professional obstacles with the right attitude.  Having a "made up" mind becomes a great ally when life bombards you with distractions to take you off course.  For example, your mind could be made up to finish the project that you started, when all of sudden, out of nowhere you find yourself putting out fires both at home and at work.  When distractions appear in our lives that are not properly dealt with they can become round peg in a square hole.  

Attaining success is not an easy journey.  If that were the case, then everyone would achieve success with ease.  No!  It is just the opposite.  Attaining success on any level will cause you to engage in a fight.  However, we don’t fight people!  The fight is an inward battle, a daily battle to remind yourself that you are an overcomer and that victory is yours.  The key is choosing the right battle to fight.

“You are the sum total of everything you've ever seen, heard, eaten, smelled, been told, forgot - it's all there. Everything influences each of us, and because of that I try to make sure that my experiences are positive.”  ~Maya Angelou

Regardless of the situation or how difficult it may appear, you can look in the mirror and decide the outcome is in your hand.  You have to affirm and confirm within yourself, "I am not the thoughts or negative opinions of others."  Yes, life may be difficult, but you must choose to stay the course even when the road becomes a steep climb and fatigues settle in.  Refuse to give in to the temptation to quit!  

Never get caught in the blame game, for it is only designed to steal your power. There is no victory in quitting or giving up.  You must constantly remind yourself, "THIS TOO SHALL PASS!"  Your faith to keep going will determine the level of success you will achieve in life.  When your “why” is big enough, the how, what and where does not matter.  Your focus should be that still, small voice constantly reminding you that you are the head and not the tail.

So, it really doesn’t matter what your aim is in life, the key to success is the ability to toughen it out and give yourself a winning chance.  The adversities of life have a way of revealing your true strength and character, while at the same time tapping into your innate ability to overcome life’s greatest disappointments, empowering you with productive thoughts, positive behavior and preparing you to receive the crown, the crown of success!

TAKE A SEAT!

“Let this same attitude and purpose and [humble] mind be in you which was in Christ Jesus: [Let Him be your example in humility:]”   (Philippians 2:5)

Being tardy or absent is not a remedy for success.  In fact, that’s the kind of behavior that will almost guarantee that something will be missed along your journey.  What are your most dominant thoughts when you wake up in the morning?  Maintaining the status quo, depending on what side of the fence you’re standing, can be very rewarding or very detrimental to your success.

The challenge in life comes when we allow our emotions to dictate and become the leading actor/actress in our lives.  When you allow your emotions to lead you can be all over the place just based on how you’re feeling at the time.  

Getting control of your mind and thoughts will enviably give you the freedom to let go of your past, live in the moment and press towards the great things in your future.  Your attitude will prepare you for victory or prepare you to fail. Attitudes are expressed both physically and verbally.  The way you stand can suggest that you’re having a hard time receiving the information coming forth.  I’m just wondering how many friendships, marriages and jobs were lost due to the expression on our faces.  

What many people do not realize is how important the morning wake up is when dealing with our attitudes.  You cannot afford to go to sleep angry, mad or upset, because over the next five hours or so your subconscious will meditate on those triggers.  You must constantly remind yourself to be present in His presence!

“Watch your manner of speech if you wish to develop a peaceful state of mind. Start each day by affirming peaceful, contented and happy attitudes and your days will tend to be pleasant and successful.”  ~Norman Vincent Peale

If you never show up for class, you’ll never hear or see what’s being taught, and if you show up and leave before the bell rings, you’re guaranteed to miss some vital information.  You can’t afford to allow someone else to feed you their perceptions, especially when they can be based on fear, doubt, scarcity or a broken heart.  You have to make a commitment to yourself that you’re not going to play ignorant when things start to break down around you.  Most people are living their life without gathering the necessary pieces to complete the puzzle.  In other words, there are some pieces of their life missing.  

Make up your mind today that you are going to be present in His presence, and when that happens you will be very aware that there is some information you have to get for yourself.  When you change your attitude there is a shift that takes place in consciousness that settles and centers you to focus on the bigger picture.  Enjoy the shift that is taking place, for there is a new paradigm that awaits you.  Unlearn what you have allowed to stop you and re-learn what it takes to "MAKE IT HAPPEN!"  Just take a seat and think about it!

GET RID OF USELESS THOUGHTS!

“Do not be conformed to this world (this age), [fashioned after and adapted to its external, superficial customs], but be transformed (changed) by the [entire] renewal of your mind [by its new ideals and its new attitude], so that you may prove [for yourselves] what is the good and acceptable and perfect will of God, even the thing which is good and acceptable and perfect [in His sight for you].”(Romans 12:2) AMP

Hoarders are people who store up a lot "stuff" and never get rid of anything.  Are you familiar with the TV reality show, Hoarders?  This show is based on individuals who have stored so much in their homes that they cannot move around.  Each room is filled with years and years of "stuff" that no longer serves a purpose.  What they don’t realize is that they are creating an environment that is conducive for chaos, confusion and frustration.  

Hoarders are very convincing, because they can justify the need to keep every item in the house.  I began to think how many undercover hoarders we have in our society, people who for years have justified hanging on to useless thoughts, people and situations and negative events.  The average person cannot relate totally with a person who likes to keep everything and get rid of nothing.

“By taking the time to stop and appreciate who you are and what you've achieved - and perhaps learned through a few mistakes, stumbles and losses - you actually can enhance everything about you. Self-acknowledgment and appreciation are what give you the insights and awareness to move forward toward higher goals and accomplishments.”  ~Jack Canfield

Are you hoarding thoughts that are taken up real estate in your mind? Have we become unconscious of the fact that some or most of our bad habits and reactions are based on "stuff" that we have not let go?  Are you being used and manipulated by a myriad of bad behaviors learned over the years?

You can’t look at the physicality of a person and determine they are a hoarder.  Neither can you assume by a person's intellect if they are hoarding.  That’s the great mystery of hoarding.  

What images have been stored within your mind over the years that keep interfering with your quest to become great?  Just as a cleaning crew is needed to go into a home to clear out the clutter and the unnecessary stuff, you need a mentor, life coach or a pastor, someone who is vested in your day-to-day living to help you unlearn the bad habits you have learned and get rid of the negative thoughts that can hinder your success.  

You create the world in which you live, whether it is a world of lack or a world of prosperity, a world of sadness or a world of joy, a world of sickness or a world of divine health.  The world will always mirror YOU!  Whatever lack you experience on the outside reveals the lack that is within YOU!   I want to challenge you today to unlearn those useless thoughts, images, ideologies and belief systems that have been lingering around in your world for years.  Change your paradigm and take back control of your mental real estate (your mind)!

SLOWING DOWN LIFE ALLOWS YOU TO HEAR THE SOUND OF SUCCESS!

“And Elijah said unto Ahab, Get thee up, eat and drink; for there is a sound of abundance of rain.”  (1 Kings 18:41)

The sounds of a jackhammer beating the pavement, cars honking and brakes screeching to a stop are just some of the sounds we have become familiar with on our everyday ride into work.  Your ability to listen and imagine what we hear should never be underestimated.  Listening is one of the most valuable skills you and I possess. 

Webster’s Dictionary defines listening as, "to hear something with thoughtful attention; to be alert to catch an unexpected sound/to pay attention to."  

A parent can always recognize her child’s cry or laugh regardless of how many people are in the room.  Great listeners seem to achieve at a higher level than their counterparts.  Have you ever been in a conversation with someone and knew they weren’t listening?  How frustrating is that?

“People need to know that they have all the tools within themselves. Self-awareness, which means awareness of their body, awareness of their mental space, awareness of their relationships - not only with each other, but with life and the ecosystem.”  ~Deepak Chopra

Good listening skills require an acute level of self-awareness.  When you are self-aware it is an indication that you are in tune with your surroundings.  Life can often move so quickly that we fail to take the time to smell the roses.  You never want to get so busy that you start to miss out on life and its wonderful opportunities.  Being career-minded and career-driven is great motivation for personal and professional accomplishments.  Therefore, from time to time you have to take inventory of what you are trying to get done.  You never want to be the person that is so busy that they miss everything.

Here is an exercise for you.   The next time you’re going for a leisurely jog or just walking around downtown window shopping, close your eyes and see if you can form pictures within your mind based on the sounds that you hear.

Slowing down life can be very beneficial.  Playing the recorder of life at maximum speed can cause you to miss some vital information.  Remember, the goal is to be deliberate with your listening skills so that you can clearly hear the sound of success!

MEDITATE ON THE THINGS THAT REALLY MATTER!

“This Book of the Law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do according to all that is written in it. For then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have good success.”   (Joshua 1:8)

Most of us are very familiar with the phrase, “Worry only about the things that are in your control, the things that can be influenced and changed by your actions, not about the things that are beyond your capacity to direct or alter.”  How true and profound.  This statement captures our ability to not allow the negative situations of life, and possibly the positive ones, dictate how we feel.  When you worry there will be some side effects that will alert your body that something is not right.  

Here is a scientific fact… worrying can have a negative effect on your health. Your heart rate may increase, you experience sudden panic attacks, you find yourself breathing heavier than normal. That’s the negative side of meditation… meditation in the wrong direction.  Yes, I said meditation.  

Here is a secret… every day you are meditating on something positive or something negative.  Most people don’t realize that worrying is a form of meditation.  Whether it’s a bad relationship, lose of income, or too many bill collectors calling, the negative side of meditation is worry. 

“If you always put limits on everything you do, physical or anything else, it will spread into your work and into your life. There are no limits… There are only plateaus, and you must not stay there, you must go beyond them.” ~Bruce Lee

Life is too short… so start enjoying it!  Fix your mind and your thoughts on what makes you happy.  When life is being lived and enjoyed it creates a synergy that becomes contagious in the room.  Resist any and all external forces that try to limit you or suggest that more is needed, when you know better. 

Start off your day in the happy zone, the creative zone.  Create a space where you can sit and meditate.  Channel your thoughts and energy towards the good life…you family, your happiness, your desires, your purpose, your destiny. Start using the benefits of technology, like caller ID, and let some calls go to voicemail.  Adopt the saying from The Wiz, "Don’t nobody bring me no bad news!”  Above all… Live in the worry-free zone and get excited about LIFE!

YOU HAVE THE RIGHT TO…

COMMUNICATE YOUR FUTURE INTO MANIFESTATION!

“Give, and it shall be given unto you; good measure, pressed down, and shaken together, and running over, shall men give into your bosom. For with the same measure that ye mete withal it shall be measured to you again.”  (Luke 6:38)

I was just sitting here thinking about a device that would make people pay attention to me when I am speaking, you know, one of those high tech devices that change colors when the person is no longer paying attention to what you are saying.  Imagine if a device like that actually existed.  It could save you and me a lot of time thinking a person is listening when they are not, while looking at us smiling.  Whenever you’re trying to get a point across you will always run into difficult people who are determined for you to think that what you’re saying has no value.

Try your best not to focus on their body language, because most people have become expert body "positioners."  I know it’s not a word, but when you think about it, at least four faces appear before you. You have to mentally block out any outside distractions that could interrupt your concentration or break your focus.

“Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us. We ask ourselves, Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous? Actually, who are you not to be? You are a child of God. Your playing small does not serve the world. There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won't feel insecure around you.” ~Marianne Williamson

Remain present at all times.  Many sales associates lose certain accounts because they don’t stay present in the moment and give their accounts the attention they deserve.  When you want something bad enough you cannot afford to spend any time with naysayers and dream killers.  Most dreams die inside of our thoughts and they never make it onto the playing field.  But a made-up mind, a determined and fearless person will always remain ready and in position for the big payoff!  

BEWARE of people who are always critical of your every move and can’t help but judge everything you do.  Put them out of your consciousness.  Lock them in the basement and throw away the key.  Communicating your desires is as much about what you say, as well as what you do. Always remember… your mind has the mental power to handle the necessary information to create and communicate your manifested future!  Now, declare with me… MANIFEST!

DON’T LOOK BACK...

LIFE IS CALLING YOU FORWARD!

“Let your eyes look right on [with fixed purpose], and let your gaze be straight before you.” (Proverbs 4:25 AMP)

What would say if I told you that everything you need in life you already have access to it?  It’s hard to see where you are going in the dark, and you will never make it to your destination if you’re being led in the opposite direction. Sometimes the best way forward is to start letting go of some bad ideas, bad habits and people who do not have your best interest at heart.

This is where it can get a little tricky.  In order for you to move forward you have to do it without any regrets, even at the risk of hurting some feeling in the process.  You never want to put yourself in a position where your feelings don’t matter and you care more about the feelings of others than your own.  Let’s make today "D-Day," with a made up mind that all decisions you make today will based on what is best for you.  The key to making a difference in the lives of others is to know where you're going in your own life!

Allow me to give you a prophetic challenge… Declare at least seven times a day, "I am strong!"  This will help when those negative voices, thoughts or things appear in your life to take you off course.  The game of life is mostly played going forward.  The only time you should move in reverse is to pick up something you dropped along the way.  Otherwise… KEEP IT MOVING!  When the light bulb finally comes on that says, "I am greater than my current situation or condition," you are ready for the next step.  The power of your thoughts is the advantage you have to overcome life’s pressures.  

When you drive up to McDonald's to place your order there is a voice that says, "Can I help you?"  In response to the voice you proceed to give your order.  Then the voice responds and says, "Do you want to super-size it?"

This principle applies in life.  The creative genius that is resting inside of you is waiting for you to pull up to the window of your mind so that the God in you can say, "May I help you?" After that you don’t have to look back.  Step into the realm of possibility … YOUR FUTURE IS FORWARD!

START ENJOYING THE LIFE...

WITH WHICH YOU’VE BEEN BLESSED!

“Blessed is the man who perseveres under trial, because when he has stood the test, he will receive the crown of life that God has promised to those who love him.”  (James 1:12)

Timidity is never the right solution to solving a problem.  Isn’t it funny how you can convince yourself that no matter how much good you do, it is still not good enough?  It’s that nagging little voice running around in our heads constantly criticizing - "You know you could have done better."  It’s amazing how a negative thought or a bad environment can deplete all the joy, excitement, and happiness you wake up with in the morning.  

People lack courage, confidence, determination and boldness, not because they were born that way… It's learned behavior!  If you are to grow and become free from these vices you MUST UNLEARN what is causing you so much pain and frustration.  Timidity shows up to rob you of your true self!

“Always be yourself, express yourself, have faith in yourself.  Do not go out and look for a successful personality and duplicate it.” ~Bruce Lee

I can’t think of a better time for you to start doing what is best for you!  Change your environment and even change your friends, if necessary.  Take control of your life.  Read books, watch DVDs, allow your positive attributes to orchestrate and motivate your success in life.  In this season of your life, start investigating.  Don’t live your life based on one person’s negative outlook.  You are not other people’s failures!  You are not other people's opinions!

I want to challenge you to get off the couch of self-pity and stand at the door of self-discovery.  Life has so much out there just waiting for YOU.  Just close your eyes and take leap.  Imagine new friends, new experiences, vacations, promotions, and so much more!  When this is realized and actualized only then can you smell the roses.  Start by surrounding yourself with like-minded people, people who are achieving some of life’s greatest rewards.

SIGN ME UP… I AM READY FOR CHANGE!

“In view of all this, make every effort to respond to God's promises. Supplement your faith with a generous provision of moral excellence, and moral excellence with knowledge” (2 Peter 1:5 NLT)

Being humiliated because you made the wrong decision is never satisfying.   In fact when it doesn’t work out and you end up with egg on your face it can cause a person to become self-conscious and disengaged.  When you are afraid of being wrong it can lead to making the wrong decision.  When a person has been in an abusive relationship trust becomes a difficult thing. 

Even when Mr./Ms. Right is standing right in front of them, fear of making the same mistake will cause the relationship to end.  The challenge in life is to turn those embarrassing situations into a pot gold! 

When you embrace what you love and realize that you love what you do, there will be no shame in your game.  By grabbing hold of the reality and truth that says, "There is more to me than you can see, you can withstand any storm. You will not end up all over the place when life's earthquakes show up.  You will stand firmly upon the truth that this too will work for my good.

In view of all this, make every effort to respond to God's promises. Supplement your faith with a generous provision of moral excellence, and moral excellence with knowledge.  What would happen if you woke up and realized that making a mistake does not matter?  Imagine people laughing at you, and it didn’t matter to you.  How would you handle all of the criticisms thrown at you, if you did not care what other people thought of you?  

To rid the negative in your life you have to replace it with a positive, whether by actions or thoughts.  When you realize you have "IT" and "it" doesn’t have you, the real power will emerge forth like a lion.  It's time to retire the shame card!  Shredding the shame card gives you the confidence to come out of the shadows and show everyone what you can really do.

I want to challenge you today to take that bold step forward into the marvelous light.  Don’t leave your life to chance.  Take whatever actions are necessary to get the job done.   True freedom is not your ability to just say I am free.  True freedom is the God-choice of LIVING FREE!

MAKING THE RIGHT DECISION DURING DIFFICULT TIMES IS...

A GAMER CHANGER!

"For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the LORD, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end." (Jeremiah 29:11)

Destiny is not left up to chance, it is a matter of choice!  Life is full of ups and downs.  One day you may feel like nothing is going right, and the next day you seem to have everything you need to produce the life you desire.  

In life we are presented with many choices.  It is not enough anymore to just need body lotion or a can of soup.  The shelves in the market are lined with an array of similar items, but each has different benefits to offer to the consumer.  Do you remember the day when you could walk into the store, pick up your item, pay for it and leave?  Not so much in today’s world.  Now, you have to take your time and read the label before you purchase.  In other words, you have to be present in the space that you are occupying in order to make the right choice!

“Switching from one career to another can be scary, but it also can be a thrilling experience. Look at it as an opportunity to really go after what you want to accomplish in life and make a difference in the world. The key is to take small, conscious steps and prepare yourself for a successful transition.” ~Jack Canfield

Many people struggle with making decisions; they just hate to do it. They have convinced themselves, "If I ignore it, it will go away."  They are paralyzed by fear - fear of the consequences of making the wrong decision.  In a nutshell, what they are really saying is, "I am living my life by chance, not choice."  

Here is some good news… EVERY wrong decision can be corrected with a right decision.  When life's most difficult obstacles show up at your door… loss of a job, terminal illness, foreclosure, bankruptcy… take a breath and exhale, because what you do and say next cannot be left to chance.  Making right choices during difficult times affords you the opportunity to take a step back and realize your passion and love for life.  It is easy to throw in the towel, but a dream worth having is a dream worth fighting for.  The decisions you make today will keep the dream burning alive in you.  SMART PEOPLE KEEP IT MOVING!  Be the game changer, one small decision at a time.

"I call heaven and earth to witness against you today, that I have set before you life and death, blessing and curse. Therefore choose life, that you and your offspring may live."  (Deuteronomy 30:19)

IN SPITE OF WHAT HAS HAPPENED…

GIVE YOURSELF PERMISSION TO BE HAPPY!

“Then the LORD your God will prosper you abundantly in all the work of your hand, in the offspring of your body and in the offspring of your cattle and in the produce of your ground, for the LORD will again rejoice over you for good, just as He rejoiced over your fathers; if you obey the LORD your God to keep His commandments and His statutes which are written in this book of the law, if you turn to the LORD your God with all your heart and soul.”  (Deut. 30:9-10)

The question that inquisitive minds want an answer to is, "What is the secret to being happy?  Is there a formula for everlasting happiness?" One fact is true. The inability to forgive or the unwillingness to forget what happened on the road of disappointment can lead to sleepiness nights.  All of us know at least one person in our lives (or it could be you) that has convinced themselves, "I can’t let it go." 

Now, the problem with this way of thinking is that hurt and pain manifest on different levels in life.  Have you ever been listening to someone give a speech or tell a story and hear the bitterness in the presentation?  Where is that delete button when you need it?  Did you know that you can become so mad at the world and not even realize that you are mad at the world?  

“All I ever wanted really and continue to want out of life is to give 100 percent to whatever I'm doing and to be committed to whatever I'm doing and then let the results speak for themselves. Also, never take myself or people for granted, and always be thankful and grateful to the people who helped me.”  ~Jackie Joyner-Kersee

When we hold on to grudges it becomes impossible to connect with people on a deeper level.  Can you imagine being a sales associate at a car dealership and not connecting with the customer?  On the other hand, if you woke up excited about life and excited about meeting people, you would probably win the title of Sales Associate of the Month.

It’s a scientific fact that happy people are healthy people in body, mind and spirit.  Your level of happiness is determined by you, and no one else.  You will know when you have arrived at your happy point - you no longer see other people as the problem, but you see the problem as a challenge to make you a better person.  When you are operating in your happy space it frees you to embrace the spirit of gratitude.  

So, what’s the secret to being happy?  There is no one size fits all.  But a great way to start is by closing the doors on past hurt and pain and opening the doors of love, trust and joy!  You have to GIVE YOURSELF PERMISSION!

DON’T COUNT ME OUT YET…

THERE IS STILL TIME LEFT!

“And the Lord said to Moses, “This very thing that you have spoken I will do, for you have found favor in my sight, and I know you by name.”  (Exodus 33:17)

John decided to go for a walk in the park.  It was a balmy, sunny day.  He had done this a thousand times before.  Taking a break, with his iPod blasting in his ears, John casually took his 45-minute stroll through the park.  John’s favorite song was playing.  As the people passed by, he gave them a loud shout, "How are you doing?"

On his walk John reflected on his day at work.  All he could hear was his boss saying, "John, you need to have better concentration where your work is concerned."  John was given the lead to work on an important project.  It was a new client with an incredible upside.  Everyone in the company was excited and had faith that John could deliver the goods.  The client would be huge for the firm and put them over the top.

John was given a two-week deadline to complete the project.  The final product had to be on his boss’s desk by noon.  The first week went by and nothing.  John became distracted and lost full concentration on what he was doing.  Realizing he was running out of time, John did not panic.  He remained calm.  John realized that it was scattered energy and his inability to focus on the task that had that put him behind his deadline. 

With his mind made up to meet the deadline, John stayed up through the nights.  He regrouped and started redirecting his energy towards meeting the goal.  Multitasking is good, as long as it does not interfere with your overall goals and deadlines. 

John was saved by the bell.  He met the deadline with only minutes to spare.  Concentration takes effort and a strong mind that is able to block out the noise of distraction.  As John was leaving his boss’ office, his manager said, "John, exhale… go for walk." 

Prophetic timing is God’s timing!

OPEN YOUR MIND TO TRANSFORM!

 "Do not be conformed to this world (this age), [fashionedafter and adapted to its external, superficial customs], but be transformed (changed) by the [entire] renewal of your mind [by its new ideals and its new attitude], so that you may prove [for yourselves] what is the good and acceptable and perfect will of God, even the thing which is good and acceptable and perfect [in His sight for you]." (Romans 12:2)

Every day you are using the power of visualization either to increase and improve your life or to keep things away.  The creative mind will respond to what your most dominating thoughts.  With that being said, it becomes a good practice to pay attention to the world around us.  We are bombarded daily by a myriad of events and situations that can have a positive or negative impact on our day and life.  In the midst of it all, it can become very frustrating to hear that you can create and have whatever you desire, but not have the access or the know-how to get the job done. 

Now is not the time to give up and throw in the towel!  You cannot afford to let doubt settle into your thought pattern.  Start telling yourself, "I can and I will reach my goals!"  Visualize your mentor/coach, someone who is doing it and getting the job done.  Connect with that person that can get you over the hurdles.

A good practice is to start telling your feelings how to feel.  You want happiness in your life?  Tell yourself, "Today, I am going to be happy!"  You want that job promotion?  Start speaking and seeing yourself working at that position. 

Do not simply take a few seconds out of your day and think this will happen.  Visualizing your desired outcome must become a lifestyle, something that you are willing to do every day, 24/7, regardless of the moment.  When you open your mind to the endless possibilities that are available to you, it becomes easy to accept the new ideas coming your way. When you put the work in you will receive your just reward!

FINDING YOUR LEADERSHIP VOICE IS…

THE KEY TO YOUR SUCCESS!

The leader of an organization is the one who establishes the voice for his/her company.  The organization is then driven by how effectively each member on the team can communicate the vision.  Inside every voice contains the vision, the dream, and the purpose of the organization. 

Remember the E.F. Hutton commercial that heralded, "When E.F. Hutton speak everybody listens?"  The organization was planting seeds that the company is knowledgeable so you can trust E.F. Hutton.  As you begin to develop your leadership voice make sure you can communicate your vision, your dream, and your purpose.      

"In him you also, when you heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation, and believed in him, were sealed with the promised Holy Spirit, who is the guarantee of our inheritance until we acquire possession of it, to the praise of his glory."   (Ephesians 1:13-14)

The best way to find your leadership voice is to sit down and rehearse it over and over again.  Don’t get caught up in the "Disneyland" version of your goals.  What do I mean by that?  While discovering your leadership voice make sure it is based on reality and not a fantasy.  This will require more reading, research and staying up late hours until the voice is discovered.  Success is not a cloud in the sky where success comes pouring down when it rains.  If you want to attain greatness on any level, it will require doing what others are not willing to do.

Find a mentor, someone who you admire and trust to lead you in the right direction.  When looking for a mentor ask yourself what is it about this person that I like?  Do you like the way they present their information?  Do you like the way they dress?  Are they skilled at building relationships? 

You shouldn’t have to start at ground zero.  Decide what road you want to travel and be determined to get there.  All roads become an adventure in the process.  It is possible that you may stumble along the way, but once you discover your leadership voice the world becomes your oyster!
