" I got it, it was kind of amusing the look I got from the lady at checkout," he said, making a face. " You'd think people wouldn't be so judgmental, even though I know damn well she saw my wedding ring," he said with a snort, before hanging the small plastic bag over to the woman. "Come on, let's go to the bathroom and take it," he said, sighing. " We just need to get this figured out before we decide the next step."

She just snorted at his words, not surprised by any of it. Not that she could say much, she knew she was more than judgmental herself. "Really just makes us feel like kids again." It was a feeling she didn't particularly enjoy as she grabbed the bag from him. They both knew it was better to get things over with before panicking or anything like that. Reaching for his hand, she waited until he grabbed it before she moved towards the bathroom. "Last thing either of us need is to overthink already."

The fact that his wife had said she was late had definitely made the man think, especially since it was something they hadn't encountered since they were kids. To say the least, it had him overworrying on the walk to the corner store to grab a test for his wife. Thankfully, they were in a city where stores stayed open late at night. They'd probably be screwed if it had been Florida.

Thankfully, it didn't take him long, and he was able to get back to Acacia in a decent time. Did he feel a bit weird buying the test? Of course, but didn't help that an older man was at the cash register when he paid with it. Getting over it quickly, he walked into the house. " I've got the test, babe," he called out, knowing the woman would hear him. Regardless, he made his way to where he knew she would be. Did he think she was actually pregnant? No, but that was also him just being more positive about everything.

The idea of being late had almost immediately brought Acacia back to the early years with Colten. When they were young and dumb, they had a scare. Was that all this was? Just a scare? That's what she'd assumed, but after the flu she'd suffered she wanted to be sure. As much as they were both grown adults, the whole thing just made her feel like they were kids again. She didn't really feel sick or anything, maybe that was a good sign.

Either way, she knew she'd overthink it until Colten got home. Fortunately, that was sooner rather than later. When he'd called for her, she was just in the living room. "In here," she called back, though she could already hear him on his way to find her.
