I’m embracing the reality that 3-4 hours of straight basketball are no longer my reality and proper diet along with plenty of ice is now the norm after back to back league games. Apparently yams are the secret to recovering from muscle cramps and strains.

I came across this while scouring the internet for fun ways to introduce the kids to STEM. It’s a Raspberry Pi meetup out of Cambridge, UK that sells education kits which appear to be pretty awesome. I ordered the first two kits that just arrived in the mail this past week and didn’t hesitate to order the 3rd education kit because I really had no choice. It’s a kit for building a robot. Who can say no to that? What you’re seeing are the fruits of going through lessons 2 and 3 for kit #1. I’ll confess that I skipped lesson 1 because it was a Hello World exercise.

My first Prime Now purchase was a photo printer. It was straight out of a typical sitcom episode. That morning while we’re all getting ready for school and work, one of my kids tells me that he needs to print a photo for his book. I ask him when he’s supposed to bring the book back to school and he says “Today”. So I asked him to tell his teacher to ask for one more day and I ordered a photo printer right before we left the house to drop them off for school. I get a text an hour later while I’m leaving the elementary school saying that the delivery was completed. Crazy, what a world we live in now.

To this day it’s still amazing to me how iconic and recognizable Bruce Lee is. Lily spotted this cardboard cutout at the Anaheim Packing District.

Recently I started getting into brewing my own coffee instead of going to the nearby Starbucks or Coffee Bean and it’s been going surprisingly well. https://www.stumptowncoffee.com/brew-guides is a great resource for videos on the different brew methods out there. As you can see, I went with the Chemex and I gotta say it’s true what they say. Any idiot can brew a clean cup of coffee with the Chemex. If you’re intimidated by the appearance of a scale, toothbrush, etc. just to brew a cup(s) of coffee don’t be. It’s totally worth it and you’ll be surprised at how interesting it can be. Who knew brewing a cup of coffee could be such a rabbit hole. There are so many variables like amount of beans per cup, water to grinds ratio, how long you brew the coffee for, the type of beans, etc. The list goes on and on. I even drink coffee black now.

Awkward moment?

A while ago from when I was only working on Mingle after hours, I was sitting in a meeting for my day job and my boss was commenting on the following article.

To loosely paraphrase, "I don't think you need a coordinated app release i.e. iOS, Android and Blackberry in order to get press. Look at this, Mingle only has an iPhone version and they're getting press. What is Mingle anyway, I've never heard of them..." Think that was an awkward moment?  Sufficed to say I didn't say a word during that meeting.

What up people. I've been on somewhat of a hiatus due to being downright swamped on all facets of life but it's all good. I kick off the return from hiatus with this photo. Who sleeps like this? I suppose it's comforting to know that based on his sleep position he's a comfortable and happy kid versus what is implied if he was curled up into a tight ball in the fetal position.
