The thing is they Can't fucking do that. They wouldn't have been able to show the movie anywhere. There's a chance they wouldn't even be able to show it in America, probably. They literally Cannot Fucking Do that because of how censored queer media is.
Remember Steven Universe? The show about the woman alien rocks protecting humanity? The only reason it was canceled when it was, is because Rebecca Sugar refused to cut out the episode where two of the alien rock women got married. That's why the ending was so ridiculously rushed and we had to wait until things like the movie and SU:Future to get the true conclusion of the series. If Steven Universe didn't bite that bullet, the Owl House likely would not have been able to openly portray Amity and Luz as children with kid-friendly crushes on eachother.
Remember Star Vs. The Forces of Evil? Marco was supposed to be a trans girl. The show creators were told they couldn't keep that or the show would not be accepted at all.
Shows and movies that explicitly show queer characters without sexualizing it or sensationalizing/heavily watering it down and making it a joke, don't get to be shown. They don't get a platform. And they sure as hell can't be shown internationally. With the movie already being as light on the LGBTQ+ themes as it was, it literally got pulled from some theaters because Gooseworx was not willing to censor it ANY MORE than the version we GOT.
"It wasn't explicitly shown and told to us" Yes, that's WHY it was able to be shown in SEVERAL countries' movie theaters. That's why it was able to be a movie at all.
We shouldn't look down on any creators who can't or don't show it any more explicitly than they have. Sometimes it's literally the only way they were able to make their art exist and get to show it to as many people as they could. The problem is the fact that being queer is literally a criminal offense in some countries. The problem is that the creative industry does not like gay and trans people or openly queer stories and characters being taken seriously and humanize, because there are people out there who genuinely think anyone who is gay, trans, or says its okay to be, should literally be tortured.
So. If that's what they wanted her to do, they do not understand what is happening and should be quiet. Because Goosworx couldn't have done that.
AFTER the drop of ep 9 onto youtube, both Goose and Alex posted on their actual official accounts how Jax in the series is a closeted trans girl who never got the chance to transition before her self-destructive and self-hating behavior, insecurity, and lashing out sent her off the deep end.
Because if that was explicitly said in the movie, it wouldn't have been a fucking movie.
