Wanna…. add onto this.

first of all, working name for protag is ‘Chō jiga‘, Japanese for superego (Jiga for short); for reasons those of you who’ve played the game can figure out, I’ll keep calling them ‘the protag’ because of…… rrrrreasons.

Basic idea is the protag wakes up to Laventon believing (not wrongly) that the starter trio have led him to a new, unseen and unheard of pokemon that he simply *must* investigate. Protag doesn’t even recall their old name, let alone their old life- in the process of being brought to Hisui and…. changed, their old self has mostly been stripped away [not intentionally, mind you]

Of course, Laventon is freaked out and ecstatic that he’s discovered a pokemon that understands and can speak human language– and this goes further when he and protag discover this extends to communicating with pokemon too. Naturally, the dork professor sees this as a boon for the survey corps, and brings protag to present to the captain and commander.

Y’know how people are suspicious of Dawn/Lucas’ outlandish appearance in modern day clothes? yeah when there’s a humanoid pokemon God walking around that gets amplified exponentially. Beni nearly squares up to fight out of pure shock, and Akari and Rei [yes, both] are horrified that Laventon’s discovered a human-intelligent pokemon and brought it into the village. Cyllene however? She hides her terror stays relatively calm and collected, and says she’ll allow protag to assist the survey corps under the obvious caveat they will be CLOSELY monitored by the security corps

off screen whinging from protag wanting an actual bed to sleep in and not the open grass of the pastures which Laventon takes pity on and argues with Cyllene about on their behalf
