Minimalist Approach

I have too many clothes. 

I am always hoarding them. This never seemed to bothered me until I recently received a suitcase full of clothes from my hometown Port Elizabeth from my mom (I study in Johannesburg). 

Why it bothered me you ask? 

I have a huge box filled to the brim with clothing in the corner of my sitting room, I have clothes at my brothers place, dads place and to top it all off the clothes my mom sent me where only a quarter of the clothes I have in my wardrobe. This all honestly made me feel overwhelmed as I was running out of space to keep all this clothing in my small flat cupboard.

So I decided to give away majority of my clothing. Some to friends and some to charity. It broke my heart I tell you... I wanted to cry. Not only at the fact that I have given away my precious clothing but how attached I was to my clothing. That terrified me.

So i decided to take the minimalist approach. To only have the essentials and only buy what I really really want. If you haven't worn it in a while GET RID OF IT. This has shown me to really appreciate fashion pieces more. I can honestly tell you that it definitely has not been easy (I mean you know us females and their clothing). Its a work in progress...

I owe it to these guys *see picture* for making the transition easy. Not only in terms of fashion but my day to day life.

While watching Lord of the Ring (don't ask) I noticed the men zipped/buttoned up their clothes by using the string method (seen on the back of my dress). Kinda cool seeing where fashion trends come from...
