While out on a mission, Superman gets depowered, losing his heightened senses without injuring or weakening him. It was supposed to be this destabilizing attack to neutralize the Kryptonian. However, the shock gets immediately overshadowed by the back that he now seems to be unable to distinguish where Batman is like he's a black cat blending into everything.
The JL is trying to find a way to reverse the spell but it's taking a while, so Clark is subjected to Batman scaring the daylights out of him every day for weeks. Clark thinks he's alone or that Batman isn't there and he'll appear out of thin ear, touch his shoulder, speak up close to him giving Clark mini heart attacks each time. Clark's also constantly bumping into him, stepping on his cape, hitting him with his arms when gesticulating. Clark can never see when Batman is close or where he is until he turns, showing his eyes or white lenses. He sometimes starts conversations with random dark spots or shadows thinking it's Bruce. It even happens during the day or well-lit rooms in the Watchtower whenever Batman is next to a dark surface or under shadows.
It takes weeks for Clark to get back his powers. It somehow ended up being one of the biggest mind-fucking spells he had ever been hit with.
