SuperBat AU where Clark & Bruce meet during a work interview/gala/night out/whatever setting you can think of & they immediately hit it off...unaware that their respective online persona/alter ego has been clashing with each other for years.
Hi, lovely!!! I'm so sorry this took like two months but I fucking suck and have had this in my drafts unable to finish it for over a month. I started writing and then it got out of hand and my anxious ass froze up. Hopefully you like it even though it's not exactly what you asked for.
Bruce's most comforting coping mechanism is self-sabotaging. It can take on different forms depending on who he's trying to embody at the moment. But nothing surpasses the high of almost getting everything he's ever wanted as just Bruce—weird and surprisingly witty and insightful in an enigmatic and magnetic way—and then taking it away slowly and painfully piece by piece. He gives too much of himself to people, no longer even lying to himself that this time will be the one, just going with the flow he so badly wants to stop but can't bring himself to do. He lets himself be liked and himself love in return, but by the time he realizes things can't happen, they love him too much to simply let him go. So he slowly has to make them want to leave him. Let them choose it rather than him.
When he meets Clark, Bruce feels doom the second they talk for the first time. He wants him to be it, but knows it is inevitable he won't . Conversations with Clark are too easy, they feel like the perfect match, similar and complementary at the same time. He's smart and driven, goofy and nerdy, but also serious and professional when needed. He's an amazing listener, always ready to ask questions he'll actually listen the answers to, but knowing when not to probe. He's handsome, the hottest man Bruce's ever met, and incredibly strong. He's caring and giving, in and outside the bedroom. It's so much Bruce doesn't know what to do with himself.
When he starts to pull away, Clark doesn't let him. He's far too noble and gives Bruce too much credit, accepting Bruce's excuses and putting more of himself to make things work. So he tries to make himself a burden, make Clark have to leave him. He demands more of him, more time, more attention, make it affect Clark's work. He gets too involved in his stories. He becomes a PR nightmare, too problematic be associated with in Clark's line of work. But Clark won't let him leave.
Bruce can't think. The ideas his brain feeds him of the worst possible outcome—Clark dying, Gotham out of control, losing his family—outweighing how happy he could be with Clark.
Bruce can always trust sex as a tool. He knows the rumors, a sex addict, indecent, incapable of reading a room, someone so deeply unlikeable to those outside his world.
He visits The Planet on official business matters, and asks Perry for a private meeting with Clark specifically. When Clark gets to the meeting room, Bruce's in his underwear, and greets with a stupid douchey pickup line like this whole scene wouldn't get Clark fired immediately and probably ruin his reputation permanently. Clark snaps, he can take everything else, Bruce completely playing in his face, the office chatter after Bruce does something stupid, the rain checks, anything. But Bruce jeopardizing his work, his livelihood, like this, showing how little he cared for his well-being was too much. Clark never thought to agree with what others said of Bruce but maybe he was wrong. He finally broke things off.
Bruce wasn't prepared for how utterly devastated he would feel afterwards. The thought of Clark hurting already too much to bear. The usual high of despair after a break up that filled him with enough energy to go full out at work never came. His endurance during patrol tanked, he couldn't go a day without a clash at league meetings, he couldn't even focus when working on missions with other league members. He couldn't help by stalk Clark when possible, his work or personal life, hoping that seeing him live a quieter, safer life without could bring him reassurance, but would rarely see Clark out.
Bruce hasn't been himself for a while. It happens when Bruce, inevitably, lets his guard down. Kal is the one that bring him to the Watchtower after he gets hit, he's there when his cowl is taken off, but he can't stay to see Bruce wake up. Kal ignores Batman for week and Bruce can't stand the fact that he not only lost Clark but Kal is also drifting apart with no explanation.
Clark goes to Gotham a night Batman's out alone to confront him, ready to end things for good or fight for what they could have. The visit disconcerted him, but Kal left no room for confusion. An angry jab, "Is this what you wanted, Bruce? Screw you, B! All your planning and catastrophizing, and you think this is keeping us safe?" A hurt, weeping confesion, "I love you, B, and I know you love me back. Why are you doing this to us?" To a desperate plea, "you know this is so much worse. We could have everything."
He's ambushed by a debilitating conversation he never thought he'd have. This is exactly what he was trying to avoid. It was supposed to keep Clark safe and himself focused enough for his city, for the league. All of his self-denial has led to exact thing he's been trying to avoid. And he loves Clark, so much. Why is he hurting him? When he's never wanted someone more and they could have everything if they tried. And this time, he does.
bet it feels good as fuck to cum inside shane hollander

Inspired by this post
I just keep imaging Bruce trying to prove Superman isn’t THAT good bc in his eyes not even himself is that noble
Even in the JL where he knows everyone here is a good person, some still are a lil shit sometimes, like stealing others lunch, not cleaning after them, those little but infuriating things, and most of the time they were meant to do the dishes but ofc an emergency pops up and stuff happens
I don't think people fully understand exactly how hard Bruce fell in love with Clark once he found out Clark was a genuinely great person. Like even platonically, he is absolutely in awe of Superman.
Seriously, Gotham chews good people up and spits them back out wrong. Gotham takes anyone trying to do a kind thing and beats them back down into submission. It's a place where hope kinda goes to die, even if it's not dead and it's just bloody and buried underneath all this trash and mud in the gutter. Still very hard to see, much less tangibly put your hands onto. Bruce grew up in this place where the powers that be just crush and stomp on any good that can be done for any reason at all and hammers it out of people, one sliver at a time. So of course Bruce's immediate thought about Superman existing was "I gotta keep an eye out for that guy, he's gonna be a problem."
Like, everything had to go perfectly right for Clark to turn out the way he did and not immediately choose to lord over humanity with an iron fist. That's insane amounts of chance at play. He could've been picked up by the Luthors back in Smallville, or been instilled with any variation of a slightly more grey or darker-than-black moral compass (see Red Son) and maybe we'd get dark Superman, or someone who isn't Superman at all.
Bruce wasn't expecting Clark to have hit every fortunate nail on the head with his upbringing to turn out so well, much less retain it so fiercely as Superman, despite all the horrors they see day to day. Bruce was expecting...well, the exact opposite. I mean that's what Gotham has instilled in him from day one, right? Nothing ever turns out that good on a planning sliding scale, even with room for error. It just happened, in a way that Gotham doesn't normally allow for, not in any way that Bruce has seen, and yeah sure Clark isn't from Gotham so maybe that's why.
Clark is Bruce's thesis statement on how despite bad things happening to everyone, they can always choose to be a kind person. They can always strive to be better than the godawful bullshit that made them or has happened to them, and will probably continue to do so.
So yeah, Bruce falls head over heels for Clark. He adores that guy. He couldn't recreate Clark Kent the way he is now even if Bruce tried. If there were more Clark Kent's in the world, Gotham would be a hell of a lot better place, not to mention the world itself.

2, 7 & 10 for the reader ask game! <3
hi dawn!!! thank you for asking <3 this was really fun
2. What was the first fandom you read fic in?
the first fics i read were technically rpf x reader on facebook/wattpad (i was a teen in the 2010s ok) but the fandoms would reveal too much of me lol. the first fandom i read for fanfiction in on tumblr/ao3 were supernatural and drarry. sadly i didn't have an ao3 account so i don't really remember any of the fics from back then </3.
7. How do you find new fic to read?
I have two ways. i have multiple tabs open on my phone of every fandom i read fanfics on divided into two categories:
1. General: where i have excluded anything and everything i know i wouldn't want to read, so there's less but better-matched fics, and i just read as new fics come up.
2. Specific tags: where i filter through one specific tag i like (i.g. bottom bruce wayne, bottom eddie diaz) and exclude deal breakers but keep some things i could be open to, and i read from latest to oldest. i will actually read through all the tabs of a ship through this method. if i'm feeling nostalgic i'll go a couple of years back and start there to see what the fandom would write about a pair before big influx of fans (i.g. superbat before superman 2025).
10. What's the last fic you read? What did you like most about it?
the last fic i read was Unfair by Sapphire09, which is a clark has a big dick and bruce takes it for the first time fic. it was really good!! i love this specific trope, #mybruce is a size queen, so that already checked one of my biggest boxes, no pun intended. but what i liked the most, i think it'd be how it was written, like so smutty and dirty but written almost soberly(?). also, i love older, all superman and batman media fics that show the general characterization of superbat that doesn't lean too close to the batman (2022) and superman (2025) (i do like those too tho)

I want Bruce to have a break down. Not a cool edgy one, like a pathetic sob fest. Almost disturbing to see this grown man crying this much. Why? Because he just doesn't get it.
He doesnt get why hes so broken.
He doesnt get why he always gets the short end of the stick.
He doesnt get why he can't just understand people.
He doesnt like making his family angry. It doesn't make him feel good when theyre practically boiling with rage and stop talking to him for months. Especially when hes trying so hard. He's able to pass as normal with the public because they only see him in curated moments. His children see him as he truly is.
And he truly is a ugly thing.
So one day, after years of misunderstanding and silent treatments, he breaks. He tried not to. He always made sure to go hide somewhere to cry to not burden his children with his ugly emotions. But he cant this time.
He just doesn't get it.
What did he do wrong? Why can't he fix it? Why can't he be right?
Why can't he be enough.
And so, in front of all of his children. He cries. They have never seen him cry. Not like this. Especially not falling to his knees and sobbing.
Asking over and over again. Why?
They don't have an answer.
They don't have anything. Anything other than the sickly feeling of dread. Because they know they brought him to this point.
Not gods, monsters, or terrorists.
No, only his own children could bring the batman to his knees.
I saw this and had to save this image cause I definitely have a few readers like this.

Most annoying online emotion is "I have a funny personal anacdote to add to this but it doxxes like all of my personal information"
Dick rolls his eyes "Okaaaay daaad geez!" The teen stops turning to his bedroom and tilts his head. What did he say?
"I- If you- I don't mind..."
Fix this, FIX THIS! "Yeah, no. It sounded more sarcastic in my head"
"... Oh." Wrong move! He turns back to Bruce. The man is looking down. Shit shit shit.
"No, I don't mean that you aren't- I mean... You- you aren't -" Bruce's head downs more and more to the ground with every word "No, no, no! Ah! Listen! I-!"
"It's fine" he doesn't look at Dick
"B! Bruce! Sorry, I-"
"It's fine... Go to your room, Dick" Bruce looks up and smiles. "Let's talk tomorrow"
Dick runs away before he starts messing everything more. And they never talk about it again.
"It's a process. We all found it difficult at first, I know. But I still feel guilty over that moment." Dick shrugs. Jason frowns at him.
"Noooo, we didn't." Dick stops and twist his body from his lotus position to watch his brother over at the computers.
"What do you-?"
"Really? You found it difficult?" Tim tilts his head next to him at the mats. Dick swallows.
"I-"
"I guess nowadays I can't call him pops as I used to" Jason nods to himself "but I started calling him that as soon as the papers were signed"
"I never heard you..."
"You were never here... And I wasn't dumb enough to call Batman my pops, Dick" Jason scoffs at him.
"Why would it be hard for you?" Dick turns back to Tim
"I- I had my parents so..." He closes his mouth. Tim is studying him, no judgement. But Dick still feels sick.
"Mmh. I guess so." Tim holds his own chin.
Dick smiles "You felt the same way?" He can see Jason joining them from the corner of his eye.
Tim frowns "Hell no!" Jason guffaws as he sits next to Tim "I saw an opening and started bombarding him with the word!"
"Stalker Tim?" Jason waves his hands "You seriously think stalker Tim was shy about calling him dad?"
"But... Your parents..."
Tim twists his lips. "Yeah... Looking back it was kinda rude to Jack to call B my dad so soon after meeting him"
"... What?" Dick gapes. Jason belly laughs
"Imagine Jack Drake going to an event with his kid and as soon as Bruce appears, this dude runs to him screaming dad"
"Never did that" Tim points a finger at Jason "I only called him dad in private"
Jason raises his hands in surrender "I was exaggerating"
"Well, don't. Jack never knew... I hope"
Dick stares at them. Jason sighs.
"Look, if it makes you feel better, now I find it really really hard and awkward to call him pops anymore"
"No, it truly doesn't help"
"Well damn I'm never opening to you ever again"
"No... What I mean..." Jason crosses his arms and waits. "Now I find it easy. So..."
"Right," Jason rolls his eyes as Tim snickers "be a show off, why not"
"We're all different. With dad." the trio jumps as Cass sits next to Dick "Don't feel sad"
"That-" Tim swallows as he catches his breath, pointing at his sister "that's true" Dick tries to steady his own heart. "Our history is different from yours"
Dick wanna believe it. But he can't.
"You barely call him anything but dad" Dick sighs. Tim raises an eyebrow at him.
"He's dad. So I call him dad" Cass tilts her chin up, proudly, smugly. Something ugly growls inside Dick's chest.
"Well, at least you don't sound so stuck up calling him B. Imagine calling him father"
"He is my father" Tim is the only one to scream. "Seriously, Drake?"
"Since when are you here?!"
"He... Came with me" Jason raises a hand. "Are you ok?"
Tim shakes his head. "I think I shat my heart out"
Damian rolls his eyes in an almost painful way and gets away from the computer. "I call him baba when we're in appropriate- Honestly, Drake? You're being too much"
Tim takes a big breath and points at him "Not my fault you're garden gnome sized and practically invisible to normal eyes-!"
"Okay"
"There goes the chill afternoon"
Cass giggles at Damian taking off his shoe and throwing it a Tim's shoulder.
Steps on the stairs make them all turn their heads in unison.
"What are you all-" Bruce takes a second to blink. Dick sees his expression of 'god, I understand when the League calls them creepy', but it quickly goes away. Bruce clears his throat. "What are you kids up to?"
He steps down. The answers came in voices running over eachother, fighting to be heard.
"Yoga"
"Medi- ok, yoga"
"Working"
"Working on a case"
"Hanging out"
Bruce's lips turn upwards. Oh, he's proud. Damn.
Dick feels the moment.
"Hey, da-"
"Yo, pops" Jason raises up. Dick's mouth falls open. Bruce freezes, blinks and nods out of his momentary stupor. "Care to check this out?"
Dick grabs him by the ankle, making Jason trip and fall on his face. "YOU ASSHOLE"
Jason turns to face him, shocked. "What the-?"
"You did that on purpose!"
"What?!"
"Jaylad, are you okay?"
Jason kicks his hand away "No I'm not! That shit hurts!!" He takes Bruce's hand to stand up. Tim is covering his mouth with both hands, shoulders shaking. Cass has turned around, probably to laugh as well. Damian's eyes are empty as he seems to contemplate killing them all. "Sorry for feeling emotionally vulnerable and taking the moment that was offered to me!" Jason dramatically presses a hand on his chest.
Tim falls back with a laugh. "It could have also been my moment!!" Dick stands up.
"Boys..."
"Then use it! It's not one per event you- you-!!" Jason looks around "I have nothing to throw at your face!!!"
"Oooh!! You know it wouldn't be the same!!" Dick seethes.
"This is so stupid" Damian sighs and moves between them to grab Bruce's hand. "Todd and I were working on this case" Bruce looks over his shoulder at them as he's dragged to the computers. "Nothing serious... Come on. Sit, baba"
"Well... There you have it" Jason points with his hand and walks to the duo.
Dick throws his head backwards with a growl and joins them. Behind him, he can hear the other pair mock them.
"Careful, dad! He's in a foul mood!"
Bruce slightly turns to them before Jason grabs his head with a hand and twists it back to the computers. "Scary big brother, dad"
Dick glares at them before standing next to Bruce's chair.
Bruce looks up. Slowly grabbing his hand. "It's okay, son"
Dick blinks. And everyone is quiet for a second before he throws himself to Bruce's neck. "Oh, dad!"
"Come. On!"
"Grayson, can you do that after baba checks this out?"
"He always ends up stealing the spotlight"
"Drama"
"Goldie! Let him go!"
Bruce takes a second to return the hug.
i've talked about possessive fortress ai that believes it has a claim over bruce as clark's true partner, but what about bruce voicing a claim over clark and the fortress hating it.
bruce sees clark slowly decaying, his sense of duty towards the world and for protecting the future and honor of krypton dwindling. he escalates their creepy possessive dynamic, where they have no physical or biological boundaries, where their alien/human relationship is used to excuse an almost unhealthy ownership over the other. clark is his before he is the kent's, earth's, or even krypton's. no one gets to know him the way the way he does, his body, his mind, his soul. he can change his heart rate by a couple tens per minute and he'll have the world's greatest hero next to him in seconds. he OWNS clark.
the fortress sees clark pulling away, coming "home" less, using kryptonian clothes less frequently, rarely getting checked and healed in the fortress less. what does this human think he's doing? thinking he can take the child of of krypton away from them? krypton already almost lost clark to this earth and now an earthling is trying to do it again, to take him from both worlds.
the angst of having its two chosen ones pulling away. kal-el and bruce who was it accepted to continue kypton's honor. the need to pull them back in where they belong. to never let them leave.

part 1, part 2, part 3 of my possessive fortress ai posts
Once clark sees the full effect of bruce's mission on his body—after he's able to look up close and bruce lets himself show pain and injuries in front of him—Clark becomes incredibly possessive over Bruce's body.
After a harsh night or fight, Clark'll fly to Gotham to fuck Bruce whichever way he needs then. Hard, tenderly, slow, it doesn't matter, but he always shows Bruce the claim he's made on his body. It isn't Bruce's and it surely isn't Gotham's. He puts the cowl, he goes on patrol at night, he attends events because Clark lets him.
"You belong to me, Bruce. I let them have you, but I can take you away whenever I want."
It is like a lifeline to Bruce, lying to himself that he hasn't signed his body and life away to fight for his city. As if there is something there that could make him walk away, take him away from the the city that's slowly destroying him but he cannot escape.
This is so fucking hot and delicious, the casual and complete possessiveness and ownership has me gagged.
Clark needs to tramp stamp his insignia on Bruce's body
yesss i love clearly love possessive clark and fortress, but that is from the point of view of clark wanting bruce for himself—and bruce wanting the same. but i love the idea of clark matching bruce's needs, nature, and compulsions. he knows he can never ask bruce to leave gotham, put down the cowl, so he give him reprieve by telling he can take him away. he wouldn't choose it. clark's stronger, faster, bruce's let his guard down and know clark knows all of his weaknesses, knows how to work his brain, and he WILL use it to take him from gotham. bruce knows he won't actually, but it is the threat that gives him relief, hope almost.
Bruce needs someone to make his decisions for him to quiet that ever present voice inside of him and Clark can do it the best. Every time Bruce is trying to kill himself by overexertion, Clark swoops in and threatens to lock him away and snatch Gotham and Batman away from him forever and he's so strong and powerful against Bruce's pitiful resolve and his love for Clark that Bruce has no choice but to agree.
They both know Clark won't do anything like that but Bruce's brain needs something drastic "like a gun to his head" to force him to take care of himself and Clark will never say no to that
