“Are you sure?” Tommy asked, trying to remember how to be polite. He looked up at the big courthouse beyond them and back at her. “I could… wait. I’ve got nowhere to be. I just…” He tried to string something coherent together. “I’ll go anywhere you want,” he repeated, taking another small step toward her.

“Uh, yeah, yeah, I’m sure” Dinah nodded, she wanted to talk to him without all the people around who could be listening and her apartment seemed like a safe place to do so. “It’s just like three blocks from here” because of course she’d gotten an apartment as close as possible to where she worked.

“I find I work a lot better with Oliver not around too, though for different reasons” it’s why she’d left team arrow, working with Oliver was hard when they butted heads all the time about how to do things.

“And what exactly are you working on?” Dinah asked as she walked over to the other woman.

‘ no problem,’ it isn’t hard to pick up that something was off, there was simply too much history for him not to.  yet he returns her smile, more genuine, and leaves it up to her to decide if she wanted to talk about whatever was bothering her. ‘ so how’ve you been, dinah ? i know we’re not running in the same circles anymore but it would still be nice to catch up once in a while. it feels like we haven’t seen each other in ages.’ 

“I’m fine” Dinah replied. “I know, I’ve just been busy with... work and stuff” the blonde shrugged, it was mostly a lie she’d taken time off work after the explosions and was just now starting again. Luckily the bruises from her fight with Babs were mostly faded so it was easy to cover them up now.

I know I messed up, I’ve messed up a lot of things lately it seems, but nothing as bad as what I did to you and I know I should apologize in person instead of writing in a letter and I will, at some point, but for now this is the best I can do. I’m so sorry for what I did, what I said, you’re my best friend and one of the last things I wanted was to hurt you. I don’t know why I said the things I did, I didn’t mean a word of it, I guess I was just angry and you were there. I can’t apologize enough for what happened, but I hope one day you’ll forgive me, even if I don’t deserve it.

“Take a seat, I’ll get some tea for you. Have you eaten?” Iris couldn’t help but forget all about what had happened in the bar and worry about Dinah. It was so not the moment to think of such a silly fight when it was obvious that her friend was having a hard time. “Does it hurt? Because I can drive you to the hospital if you want to.”

“I don’t... think so, no” Dinah said as she sat down and buried her head in her hands, her mind was a mess at the moment, it was hard to think clearly. “No, it’s fine, I’ve hard worse” though unlike this time none of those injuries had been inflicted by her best friend.

seeing her adoptive mother do this to herself breaks her heart, but knowing there was nothing she could do to help only hurt her further. this was the past and she wasn’t meant to be here, not meant to affect dinah’s timeline which meant she would have to recover without her. letting out a sigh, sin took the ordered drink and threw it down her own throat before dinah could get to it. ❝ yes, somewhere in the himalayas a fourteen year old version of me is working very hard on it as we speak. for you, so you’d be proud. well, that and a few years with some time traveling legends doesn’t hurt. ❞ she shrugged before gently nudging dinah up. ❝ come on, lets get you home and we can talk more. ❞

At the mention of the current time Sin, Dinah closed her eyes, she’d been trying her hardest not to think about her adopted daughter though that was hard when the future version of her was sitting right next to her, and stealing her drink. “I’m not really in the mood to talk” the blonde said, she didn’t want Sin, any version of her, to see her like this.
