what's your favorite thing about being a reporter?
âKnowingthat I can do something to make a difference. I donât need a suit or powers tomake my voice heard.â
do you think you'll be a good mom?
âI hope so.I have my dad and I know heâll be thrilled to know heâs going to be a grandfather, even if heâs not here for now. I didnât have a mom and I donât what Iâmsupposed to do or what is expected of me. But Iâm here and Iâll sure as hell domy best.â
What was your childhood like?
âWonderful. Dad tried his best to make sure Barry and I had everything we needed and more. He was busy with work, but he always took the time to be with us. Heâs the best person and most amazing father.â
are you nervous about having twins?
âOnly every day. Imagine having two little ones running around, and if theyâre anything like their dad, then weâre going to have our hands full.â

One a very few people knew about the twins, but it was difficult to keep a secret when Bart lived with them. It was weird to think she was pregnant with Bartâs father. How was that even possible? She had to tell him, she decided. It was only fair. So she had bought some cupcakes and coffee, and a couple of bagels, knowing he ate as much as Barry. And since the way to both her boys' hearts was through the stomach, Iris knew exactly what to do. Telling Barry hadn't been as special as she had wanted, but she could make it better with Bart. As she heard footsteps coming down the stairs, she smiled at her grandson. "Morning! I brought breakfast."

Diana tends to the boiling pot for a moment, offering a nod of her head at Irisâ words. âYou will. And I know for a fact that your father is going to be so proud of the both of you. These babies are nothing but the culmination of the love you two share. You might be scared now but once theyâre here⊠it will be magical.â Diana offers out a supportive hand to her friend. âAnd of course if you need anything, I can assure you have a full support system. Between Babs and I alone Iâm sure youâll be the most spoiled mommy-to-be that Metropolis has ever seen.â A genuine smile graces her features before the Amazon is turning once again to finish off the dish, spooning the hot mac and cheese into a bowl for her friend. Setting up a utensil beside the bowl, Diana finally joins Iris at the small table. âI hope thatâs alright. The babies have good taste.âÂ
Her father. There was nothing Iris wanted more than to have her father here, not only for the babies, but because she missed him. They all had always been a very close family, and now they were in completely different earths. Diana's words made her smile. It was a dream come true already; they were married and starting a family, what else could they possibly ask for? "And busy." A child was a lot of work, now she could only imagine and prepare herself for two. Iris took Diana's soft hand in hers, knowing that she had been blessed with wonderful friends. "And the babies will be the most spoiled children." Starting with Barry, she had no doubt. The delicious smell of cheese filled the kitchen and she smiled at Diana. "This looks wonderful. Thank you so much." And it tasted even better, she decided, when she took a bite. Iris wasn't a good cook, everyone knows it, and she wondered if it was about time she took classes or something. Her dad used to cook for her all the time. Well, he still did. And that was something she truly enjoyed. "Diana, if you have any time, will you teach me to cook?"

âAs am Iâ the fact that it had been Clark to put a rush on the arrival of said antidote was an underlying note, sure that it wasnât the best time to even attempt contemplating her emotions while Iris was still suffering on some level. And Lois could tell that it was still bothering the other woman on some level, spotting the minor tells was one of her many talents that helped when it came to writing articles. âNo. It wasnât easy, all I wanted to do was run right in there and pull people out but I knew I couldnât do thatâ She opened a door in hopes it would help even a little, but even that had bothered her as such a pathetic attempt at a rescue. âI guess itâs the curse of us mere mortals, forever with the heart of a Superman and yet weâre cursed to not really be able to do anything in the end.â Lois would charged back into that room in a heartbeat if she believed she could battle the toxin just as Clark had done on his arrival, but it was her awareness that kept her from doing the stupid thing no matter how much she needed to help.
Iris could relate with the frustration -- It wasn't easy to be in the middle of chaos without being able to help because they were, indeed, mere mortals. Iris had always done her best, for she believed one didn't need superpowers to help others, yet she admitted there were situations they simply couldnât face without risking their lives. In this case, it wasn't only the memories of that vision, but the fear of something happening to her children once everything was said and done. Thankfully, the doctor had assured her everything was the way it should be. "What you did was very brave. You had no idea what was happening and if you could get hurt, you did what you could and that's more than enough." Iris offered her a smile, hoping Lois could see how much her efforts that been appreciated. "But now, there is something we both can do." Iris had been toying with the idea, but it was a job for two women instead of just one. They both could work together, or at least she hoped Lois would accept. "It's about time we find whoever was behind this."

a few moments were needed, deep green eyes blinking as they adjusted to waking. as her hand was pushing the door closed behind her friend, the words registered and barbara was certain sheâd never been shocked awake so quickly without caffeinated aid as sheâd been in that moment. â did you just say you think youâre â â her gaze landed on the item in irisâ hand, knowing that this was no joke for her. â okay, first of all, youâre always allowed to wake me up. second, i hope you drank your fluids because you really need to get in that bathroom and do what you have to do on that stick. we need visual confirmation, obviously. â there was really no doubt in her mind that if the new came from diana, what the result on that test would be, but she appreciated that the mind accepted things best when a result could be seen. she was already giving her gentle nudges to the bathroom, though iris knew full well where it was. â youâre lucky dick is out, heâs like an old lady when it comes to babies. he would hoard them if he could. how are you, though? are you okay with the likeliness that you are? â
It wasn't exactly how she had imagined telling her best friend, but Iris had little time to plan anything less awkward and rushed. One thing was to say that one day she would like to have children, and other very different was to actually know it was a reality more than just words. "I did." Or she tried to. It was the first time consider to take one of those tests and she now realized it wasn't like the movies and shows had made her believe, a moment of pure happiness. Her stomach was in knots and she felt like her chest wouldn't be able to contain her heart if it kept beating as fast. There was no resistance, because if she had to be honest, she wouldn't make it to the bathroom without a little bit of help. That made her laugh, if only a little. "I hope that means you two are here to babysit." It was such a weird idea, to even consider there would be a baby to watch over. "I don't know yet. I'm still processing it. It's good. I'm good. I'm happy, I mean." She opened the box and gave Babs the instructions as she read the back. "I only got one, just to confirm."
â IS NOW ACCEPTING CURIOUS ANONS.

there was something about these moments that barry loved. as much as he loved every moment with iris, to know that even in the midst and aftermath of so much chaos of their lives, that they could still sit in their home â even if it wasnât truly theirs â and talk. it was simple but he didnât need anything else, no distractions. her admission that she needed to tell him something caught his attention, his hands gently taking hers as he caught on to the importance. his brows furrowed in mild confusion as she spoke, sitting up from his position on the couch. â wait â a second heartbeat? was someone else in the room? did someone follow you? are you alright? â i mean, diana was there so i assume, but â you arenât being stalked, are you? because iâll find them. â
It hadn't been her intention to worry him, and she realized that perhaps she hadn't used the right words. Iris looked at the fireplace, a wedding picture that wasn't theirs yet had to keep there to cover their tracks. Their wedding picture was upstairs, next to their bed. To remind them that no matter the what, they would always be Barry and Iris. A smile tugged at her lips and she shook her head. "I'm not being stalked and no one followed me to the museum, but there was someone else in the room. Actually, two more people." She bit her lip in an anxious manner, trying to find the right way to give him the news without being confusing. "Barry, what I'm trying to say is that--" she paused to take a deep breath. "I'm pregnant, Bar. And Diana says she can hear two heartbeats. We're having twins."

guilt found itâs way into his system, infecting him since the night before. if he had known about the fear toxin sooner, he would have gotten iris out of that room, keeping her far from itâs reach. he hadnât detected it soon enough, his body processing it through too quickly to realize that it was the cause of the sudden chaos that erupted during the charity ball. he hates that she had to go through the exposure of it, and as they make their way inside he follows her to the couch. he knows better than to question her about what sheâd seen under the influence of the gas, but trusts her to talk to him when sheâs ready.
hanging his jacket on the arm of the couch, he sits next to her with a heavy sigh, head nodding. he knew what she meant â joe was comforting in times like these. â yeah ââ i could always take you back to visit? â he offers, arm wrapping around her shoulders to draw her closer. â iâm sorry, irisâŠÂ can i get you anything? unless you just wanted to talk, or try to get some sleep? â
Sleeping was the last thing she ever wanted to do, and if it weren't for the fact her body needed the rest, she would stop doing it all together without a second thought. A long sigh escaped her and she shook her head. They had come to Earth 46 because they were needed there, and she didn't think going back to their earth would do her any good now. This was their life now, whether they liked it or not, and they had to stick to it. It didn't make her happy, playing house in a loft that wasn't theirs, living the life their earth 46 versions had built for themselves. It was an odd feeling knowing they had died in that earth.
It had been a while since Iris had giving death a serious thought -- perhaps the last time had been when they had been so sure she would die, but that was over and gone and she didn't want to think about that anymore. At least not when she had so much to live for. "There is something I need to tell you." There was no pretty surprise, nothing special, just them and that was all she needed. "A few days ago I went to see Diana and she told me⊠Well, she said that she could hear another heartbeat when I walked in. A second heartbeat."

âGood. The original article I wrote has been so popular Perry insisted I write a more personal piece. For some reason itâs a bit harder to write than the first. Maybe later you wouldnât mind reading over it for me?â Lois really had been lucky to not suffer as most of the other attendees had, being outside she had been exempt from the toxin itself but there was no escape from the fear for everyone inside the room. Her friends and family were in there and all she had been able to do was dial for emergency services, who honestly had no idea would actually be able to do anything. She was finding it hard to write about her weaknesses as a human and admit them to the world. âHow are you doing after all of that? I have no idea how awful it must have been in there.â
Iris nodded and took a sip of her chocolate, focusing on the hot beverage down her throat than the memories of that night. She knew that it would take time for her to shake off the feeling that her vision could ever come true. âOf course.â Trying her best to ignore the way her stomach clenched, she focused on her question instead. "I'm better now. I'm just very glad there was an antidote." She would have probably lost her mind if it had taken any longer. Now she woke up every morning and stared at Barry, reminding herself how lucky and honored she was. Calling him her husband was the best thing that she had ever happened to her. Until now, she supposed, that she would have two little ones calling her mom. "I imagine it wasn't easy for you either." Seeing all her friends like that without knowing what to do to how to help -- Iris knew how terrible it was to feel that useless.

barbara reached up, rubbing groggy eyes as the sound of knocking at her door forced her awake. to be fair, it was the middle of the afternoon but it happened to be a day she didnât work and a normal sleep schedule simply didnât exist for her. she pushed her body to the door, eye gazing through the small hole to see who it was. ( a habit ). without further hesitation, the door swings open, a yawn breaking from her lips and arms stretched above her head in greeting to her friend. she steps aside to let her enter. â hey, just in time â i was just about to find a show to binge. i can grab this ice cream if youâre joining. â
Iris couldn't help but feel terrible, as it was obvious she had interrupted her friend's rest. If it weren't such an emergency, she would have apologized and left, but now was not the time for that. "I'm sorry, Babs." Because she truly did. Yet she was the only one she wanted with her. "There's something we need to do first," she said as she stepped in, reaching into her bag for the item that made it feel so heavy when in reality didn't weight that much. "I think I'm pregnant.â The words flew out of her mouth, making it real, and she tested the way it sounded. âI'm not really that sure. I mean, Diana says she can hear a heartbeat and she's sure that it's a baby. I can't believe it and the only thing I could do after leaving her office was getting a test and driving here."

As one of the few people who had managed to escape the party without being affected by the toxin, though the tragedy of the night had not completely escaped her, Lois had plenty to write about. She was just finishing up the final draft of her personal take on the events when she heard the familiar voice, lifting her head up to smile warmly at her fellow reporter. âOf course, please join meâ Lois motions to the seat across from her before closing the lid of her laptop and moving it off to one side of the table, along with the papers strewn across it. âA smile I can do, because if youâre here to try and jump in on my story we might have to have another conversationâ Lois was always glad to have like-minded people in her life, Iris and Kara being writers with different papers meant they had a unique understanding of each other. Didnât mean that Lois never felt any âfriendlyâ competition.Â
Laughter bubbled from her lips as she took a seat and shook her head. Writing about her experience would have normally been therapeutic for her, and in other circumstances, she would probably have already sent her article to her editor. This time, however, the vision had been so vivid that she was still dealing with it. In fact, they had given her a few days off, because they all thought it was the stress what was making her sick. In a way it was, she was sicker now than she had been before, but the doctor had told her it was normal after everything they had gone through that night. It was all better now that Barry knew though. "This time is all yours, Lo." It was a pleasure and an honor talking to Lois, with all her experience and work. Even when they worked for rival papers, Iris still considered Lois a friend first, and would never allow their work to get in the middle of that. After everything she had seen and lived in the past few years, she appreciated the people in her life even more. "I only want your company."

The days after the gala had been weird, to say something. The nightmares still plagued her dreams every night, and no matter what she did to convince herself that Barry would be just fine, she couldnât shake off the feeling of deep grief. They had plenty of reasons to be happy, and she was, yet it felt like there was a dark cloud looming over her head. At the sight of a familiar face, all those thoughts flew out of the window and she smiled. At least they all had each other to deal with it. For some reason, seeing them alone didnât sit well with her. She ordered two chocolates, as she couldn't drink coffee for now, and made her way to their table. Bothering them was not her intention at all, but she couldnât help herself when it came to those she considered friends. âHey,â she greeted, taking a seat. âI was hoping that you wouldnât mind some company.â She offered one of the cups. âAll I ask for is a smile in return.â
