“Of course, just let me know when you do, okay? No rush too since we have to plan everything… I just want it to be perfect for you and Cael too.” Evan replied– even though they were both planning the surprise together, he wanted it to be perfect for the other camper too. Even if that meant going to the city to get whatever it is Theios would tell him. That was a quick trip that he thought was going to be worth it. “It’s the best! But apple pie is delicious too. Honestly, everything except pies with coconut. That’s not good.”

“I will.” And he would, just as soon as he could. Mostly because he definitely might need help, but he was excited nonetheless. “And for you. It should be perfect for you, too.” Because Evan was just as important and just as deserving of nice things and Theios adored him so much. He wanted to give Evan all the nice things that he could. “Coconut pie? That’s a thing? That sounds terrible. I bet I could ask Lucien to make a strawberry pie.” He’d have to find something else to do for Lucien, but it would be so worth it. Lucien’s pies- at least the apple ones- were the best.

Miracle just smiled wider when Theios kissed his cheek– he felt almost a huge relief because Theios felt comfortable doing that with him. And maybe he was excited to tell Caelan about it. “Well, it doesn’t matter now as long as you can give me what it is before the picnic so we can get it for you too.” He knew that it was still scary to go outside but this short trip will be worth it. They didn’t have to rush anything at all though. Humming he tried to think of all the best dishes he’s eaten– a lot came to mind but what stood out was his father’s strawberry pie. “Strawberry pie. That’s my favorite.”

Theios practically glowed when he noticed Evan’s smile widening. He was glad he could make the other camper so happy with such a tiny gesture. Really, it was amazing. Evan was amazing. “I’ll make sure to look it up later.” Probably as soon as he got home, actually, before he forgot. Or tomorrow, at the latest, in case he couldn’t find it and had to go ask Robbie, which was probably pathetic, but at least Theios was confident that Robbie would help him if he asked. He hummed a little after. “I don’t know if I’ve ever had strawberry pie. Lucien makes the best apple pie ever, though.”

Evan was getting used to casual affection again– the way he didn’t have to hide anymore and just express his love or whatever he was feeling. He didn’t have that in the military and he definitely didn’t have that the months he was out. The thought of planning the date between the three of them was exciting to him already and he couldn’t wait to start. “Wait, what’s your favorite dish? So I can make it for the picnic.” The son of Akhlys asked, realizing that he genuinely didn’t know. Well, he’d have to make up for that now, wouldn’t he?

Theios smiled to Evan, bright and content, thoroughly at peace with the world for the moment. After a second, he paused and then leaned over to shyly return the kiss on the cheek. It was...probably okay, right? He hoped so. He wanted to give Evan everything that Evan was giving to him, everything he could because this was so nice. He wanted to be someone that Evan could reach out to and receive warmth from. “Uh. I don’t. Well, I don’t really know what it’s called? I don’t know a lot of food names.” Not in English, at least. “But there’s a restaurant I know near here. I think they have a menu online. I might be able to find it? And then I can show you.” He could put in a very valiant effort, at least, or just go and ask Robbie. Robbie would know, or Robbie could show him and then snicker at his attempts and that would be okay because as long as Robbie was having a good time, Theios would be happy. “What’s your favourite dish?”

Evan trusted Theios to pick the right place and he definitely won’t interfere with that– he would be the one bringing the food and even the entertainment. But that just means he’d look for a movie that the three of them would enjoy. Nodding, the couldn’t help but lean towards Theios to press a kiss on his cheek. It was adorable that he was very excited at the thought of surprising their partner. “Yeah, we could. We should plan this out together, yeah? I want it to be perfect for Cael.”

Theios flushed deeply as Evan leaned over to kiss his cheek, flustered in the best way by the casual affection. He still wasn’t used to such things, but he was getting there and thriving with the knowledge that he could reach out to so many people and be given affection without question. “We should! It’ll be fun!” The planning as much as the event itself, as long as Theios was planning it with Evan. Caelan would be so very surprised and hopefully in the best way.

“I don’t mind the place, as long as I’m with you and Caelan.” Evan would have to ask Caelan to help with his leg again if they were going to walk a distance– asking Theios to shadow-travel would be too much energy especially if there’s gonna be the three of them. Or he’d just have to deal with his bum leg again, like usual. “We can surprise Caelan too, if you’d like that?”

Theios smiled to Evan, warm and sweet. “Yeah, but I want to find a nice place for us.” Somewhere with even terrain so that it wouldn’t be hard for Evan to walk and so they could comfortably sit on the ground- assuming he didn’t just shadow-travel them straight to the picnic location. “Oh, can we? They’d love that!” And he’d love being able to surprise them with such a sweet thing.

Evan was momentarily stunned when Theios had lit up at the mention of inviting Caelan. It was one of those rare smiles and expressions from the other camper. The feeling made him warm all over. “Don’t worry, I can be in charge of the food. You can be in charge of bringing Caelan wherever we plan on going. Maybe another picnic but during the sunset this time?” The son of Akhlys asked, looking at Theios with a thoughtful expression on his face.

Theios grinned at the idea and then tipped his head in thought. “Maybe a beach, or a cliff? I bet I could find someplace nice.” Even if the ‘finding’ was more along the lines of asking Lucien for good places to go. He rather thought that Lucien would be plenty willing to help him pick out a nice place for a sunset picnic. It would be a lot of fun.

Evan rarely gave out affection– he only did with the people he cared about. And right now, that was Caelan and Theios. Though with Theios, it was pretty recent. Given the time they always shared in his garden, it was natural that the two of them would get comfortable together. Looking at Theios, he felt his heart beat faster seeing that smile on his face directed towards him. “I’m really glad. Next time, we can invite Cael too.”

Theios wasn’t very good with affection, in that he wasn’t used to being able to get and give it. He was more than willing to learn, though, and was glad that he had so many people willing to teach him. He lit up as Evan smiled at him and suggested that they invite Caelan next time- because that meant there was a next time and he was plenty excited for that. “As long as I am not in charge of making the picnic foods, I think that’s a great idea.”

“They won’t notice you at all because they’re all sleeping… I’m sure they won’t mind us occupying a bed and few pillows. They might join our dreams but I guess it’s fine if they’ll connect our dreams together?” Caelan grinned under the mask. “Game night. Oh you’re on. I’ll let them know when we get back!”

“If they won’t notice us because they’re all sleeping, that sounds rather unsafe.” Not that he thought that they’d be in danger, it just seemed like a bad idea. He wondered if the campers there had any traps. “They can do that?” Theios wasn’t sure how he felt about that, but then again, he wasn’t sure how well he understood the concept.” He laughed after. “It’ll be fun.” He’d probably lose every game, but the point was to have fun, not to win, so that was okay.

“We could go there together. A…nap date?” Cael knows they can do it anywhere, but it’s still nice for Theios to make more friends or acquaintances. He might get along with the Hypnos cabin too, they hoped. “Oh, it’s very easy! We can play with Evan or Robbie too, it’s more fun to play it with more people.”

Theios laughed at the suggestion, smiling because it was a funny, but very sweet, thought. “That sounds nice, but I’m not too sure they’d be happy to have me.” Son of Hades and not exactly social. Still, he’d go if Caelan wanted to- and who knew, maybe he’d actually be able to sleep, if Caelan was there. He trusted Caelan. “That’d be fun. We could make it a little game night or something. I don’t know many games, though.” He hadn’t played any games in years and the ones he did know he was very, very rusty on. It did sound fun, though.

Evan knew that him and Theios would have matching blushes on their cheeks– it was the first time that the two of them had gotten this close and even touchy. Besides the fact that they cuddled. But even then, it wasn’t this close. They were never this close. Glancing towards Theios, who was focused on the screen. That made him grin, squeezing the other camper’s hand tighter. “I’m glad you’re here.” He couldn’t help but say again.

Theios was still very new to the whole affection thing- most of the affection he'd ever gotten had been from his mother and she was years and years gone, so this was him re-learning it all and it was bewildering but so nice- and he was trying. It helped that he had fantastic teachers that he adored plenty enough to make the effort. He glanced up as Evan spoke and smiled, sweet and genuine. "I'm glad to be here. I'm glad we're both here."

Evan, Cael, and Theios had different ways of reacting to compliments but they all ultimately end up doing the same thing when giving compliments to their partners. It’s what made them all special and just click, he could say. The son of Akhlys ended up staring at their hands entwined for longer than necessary before lifting them up and pressing a kiss on the back of Theios’s hand. Too shy to see the other camper’s reaction, he just turned his attention back to the screen, cheeks warm because of his blush.

Theios flushed deeply as Evan kissed his hand, fending off the urge to hide because of it. He took a breath instead and then hesitantly tugged on Evan’s hand so that he could do the same thing. It was just sweet and nice and he didn’t want to interrupt the movie, but he wanted Evan to know that he’d appreciated the affection. He appreciated it a lot, actually, even if it couldn’t quite look at Evan after, too shy to see what was on his face. He didn’t let go of his hand, though.

“Oh. Hmm, you should try dropping by the Hypnos cabin. It’s the best place to sleep in, next to being in a bed with your partners.” Caelan loved the soft violin music in that cabin and the scent of fresh laundry… It was so comfortable that they were disappointed that they had to wake up for dinner. At Theios’s statement, Cael blushed and nudged their boyfriend, almost wanting to bury their face on his shoulder. They’d really do it if they were sitting. “I can teach you! I also just learnt that card game called Uno and it’s so fun!”

“Hm, maybe.” But the Hypnos cabin was unfamiliar and Theios wasn’t exactly friendly, which wasn’t added by the stigma of being a child of Hades. Going there might work to make him sleep if he actually asked for it, but he doubted it’d be an easy one. Oh well. He was used to functioning on very little sleep anyway. He smiled at Caelan’s blush and squeezed their hand gently, because he could, because he loved that he could. “Uno? I’ve never heard of it, but I’d be happy to learn if you teach me.” Theios would be willing to learn just about anything, if Caelan asked or was willing to teach him.

Miracle had long accepted the fact that he was never going to think of himself too highly– he was never going to see himself how Theios and Cael would see him. And there were horrors he’s experienced that he doesn’t think he’ll ever share in fear of what his partners would think. Humming under his breath while the songs were playing, he felt himself blush shyly as he saw the offered hand hand moved much closer to be able to hold it.

Theios knew that both he and his partners had their fair share of self-esteem issues, but to him that just meant being extra genuine in his compliments and making sure that even if Caelan or Evan had problems seeing what he saw, they could at least trust that he did see in them something amazing. He curled his fingers into Evan’s and smiled sweetly to him before turning his attention to the movie, reading the subtitles with no small amount of awe.

Of course, Evan wasn’t an expert in all things technology– he still struggled from it sometimes because he wasn’t attached to his phone or his laptop. He knew how to play a movie, watch some videos, and that was about it. Ask him about photoshop and he’ll be just as clueless as Theios. “I don’t think I’d be as wonderful or as close to being wonderful as Caelan or you are but I appreciate it nonetheless.” The son of Akhlys said before moving closer to Theios and playing the movie. Though he doubted he’d pay attention to the movie since his focus was already on Theios.

Theios squinted at Evan and shook his head a little bit. “You are wonderful.” Because Evan was and deserved to be told over and over until he believed it. Theios knew it wasn’t that simple, but he also knew that he was more than willing to try. His partners both deserved nothing less and Theios didn’t have much to give, but he could give this freely. He smiled as Evan moved closer and hesitated for a moment before offering him the hand that wasn’t petting Luke.

Cael turned their head and squinted their eyes at Theios. “And probably why you don’t sleep a lot,” they added jokingly. “Of course! No promises I’ll always bring surprises or food with me, but I really love hanging out with you and Evan. You can always look for me when you’re bored. I’ve learnt a lot of board games and card games lately and they’re so fun! I’m almost unbeatable at poker.” Cael would’ve been good at arcade games too, based on their unfortunate years in Lotus Hotel that seemed to showing with their skills in games. They really hoped that wasn’t the case because they hated the fact that they got stuck in there for too long and yet they can barely remember it happened for years.

Theios shrugged self-consciously as Caelan squinted at him. “Yeah, part of it.” He had trouble remembering that he was safe, sometimes, so sleeping wasn’t very easy. It was easier outside, in the garden, because he was just so used to sleeping outdoors. It was sometimes just weird to sleep on a bed. “You don’t have to bring surprises or food. You are the surprise, and you’re always the best surprise.” Theios didn’t need anything more than their presence to be happy. He laughed a little after. “I’ve never played poker. Or many other card games to be honest.” Theios hadn’t really ever gotten to play many games at all, so it was an unfamiliar topic that he’d be happy to listen to.

Cael smiled when their boyfriend let out a laugh, though they wished they could’ve seen his smile too because they were already wearing masks. Besides holding his hand, Cael also held onto his arm. This was just a regular date with his clingy partner. “That’s…very contradicting?” They chuckled. “Well, when I didn’t know what I was, I always tried to stay out late because my father comes home late too… But it was just a small town and there was nothing much to do, and I’m a morning person… But I still love being out and somewhere, even if it’s just at my neighbor’s.”

Theios was plenty pleased to have Caelan holding onto his arm. He didn’t mind Caelan’s clinginess- it was actually rather endearing. It felt nice to be wanted. He paused as they spoke and blinked. “Yeah, I probably didn’t explain that very well. Uhm, so. The streets were safer than where I lived because I could always just start running and get far away. They couldn’t find me on the streets. But there were other things on the streets that could, other things that were just as willing to hurt me. But I could still just run away, so I stayed on the streets for a long while. And then I found Camp.” He listened to Caelan after and smiled gently, even though they couldn’t see it. “The fact that you tried to stay out is sweet. I love it when you come visit me, so if you ever want to be somewhere but don’t have any plans...”

“It’s a fucking snake, you twat,” Teren almost hissed back. Hell, he wanted to growl in annoyance at both the “poor” snake and Theios. Who had time to check if a snake was safe or not? They should be a normal occurance in gardens, but Teren hated them and preferred to keep the pests away himself. “I don’t want it near my plants,” he said as he summoned the knife back in his hand. It would have killed the snake right there if the son of Hades didn’t interfere.

“Asshole.” Theios carefully handled the snake, thankful that she was fairly used to him by now. It looked like she was perfectly fine, but Theios wasn’t about to set her loose with Teren right there, evidently willing to kill her for the crime of existing. “Your plants? Fuck off, this is my garden first of all, and second of all, snakes are good for gardens! They keep away the things that damage the plants. She’s literally a garden snake. Completely harmless to people. You are more of a threat to my garden than she is.” He cradled the snake closer to him. “For Hades’ sake, she and my cat coexist peacefully. What is wrong with you?”
