Twin Peaks: The Missing Pieces (David Lynch, 2014)
Sketchbook pieces of Laura and Bobby.
I donât ship them, but their relationship is massively important, probably more so than the show or the movie presents it as. I do think itâs more tragic than Lauraâs and Jamesâ relationship, though thatâs no slouch in suffering due to unfortunate circumstances. And you know what? Laura loved Bobby. We know Bobby loved Laura, but I do not believe Laura was with him purely for the coke and pity while her true love was for James (and Donna, but thatâs a different story). If this show proves anything, itâs that two people can genuinely love one another and not actually be good for each other.
âThere are two things I believe my life is beginning to point toward and focus on. The existence of good. And that of evil. These appear to be the two most important fundamental questions affecting daily life. The question, then, is how does one engage these two opposing forces? Evil is something that I seem to have had no trouble at all engaging. Good, and the form it takes, is a more elusive quest.â Dale Cooper: My Life, My Tapes

twin peaks is about one peak that had a really bad day
Tulpa discourse over, everyone go home
âIt was such a great day. We were outside, drinking coffee, having fun, and I was just there throwing rocks at bottles. There are few things as satisfying as throwing rocks at a bottle, with the expectation being that if it hits, itâs going to explode. It was really perfect, actually. David had no problem just rolling. We were burning film in those days. We were burning through thousand-foot mags, as I kept throwing rocks. He was shooting from behind me so he could see the whole thing. I missed a ton. And I said, âDavid, are you sure you donât want to cut?â And he goes, âNope, weâll keep rolling.â I threw a bunch, and I finally nicked a bottle or something. It took a while. There were a few very close ones. But what he was capturing, and I didnât realize this, is that everyone was watching me, and each time I threw a rock there would be a [collective gasp from the crew]. You think itâs going to happen! You never really get tired of watching, because you think, âThis could be the rock that breaks the bottle!â I realized later that thatâs what he was going for. He was going for that moment of expectation that would hopefully be fulfilled. It just took me a very long time before I made it happen. (Laughs.) And then he gave everyone else a chance to throw rocks. We didnât film that, but everyone had their chance. It was such a fun day.â â Kyle MacLachlanÂ
I try not to be judgemental about how people react to the raw grief in the pilot. I understand that raw uncooked emotion makes people uncomfortable, that laughing is a defense mechanism and that in most media grief is a much more aesthetically pleasing thing. Its quiet dignified sobbing, not screaming, wailing, hair pulling pain. And that twin peaks' tone throws people off.
But if someone's seriously watched the series and calls it overacting or silly I do start to wonder about the kind of life they lead and the pain they haven't seen.

âWhenever you come across a piece of the story that you really like, you take your time and you tell it fully. Like, I was determined, I said, we gotta meet Andy and Lucyâs son. And itâs probably only gonna be one scene, but it should be a full scene. And I think David said âand Michael Cera should play itâ To me, thatâs one of the⊠I know that scene rubs some people the wrong way, but I would watch it every day for two weeks and be very very happy.
