i hate the "we should only have queer actors playing queer characters" argument for several reasons. but what annoys me the most is that people who argue this straight up don't realize that it's illegal to ask someone about their sexuality in relation to a job interview. like an audition. i don't think breaking anti-discrimination laws to screen people's sexualities to determine their employment is the woke take you think it is.

and just. setting that aside. if you're saying "we should only have queer actors playing queer characters" you're saying that queer people must be publicly out to play a queer character. even if that actor and that character have the same sexuality. that actor has to disclose that to the whole world. again. i don't think demanding queer people to out themselves in order to engage with a queer acting role is doing anyone any good.

I've never seen anyone write a fic about the moments of when Kim gets an unconscious Chay out of the warehouse and then had to stay there and wait until someone he could trust to watch Chay took over.

Arm says Kim left but doesn't specify how long ago, and it's not like Kim could've left Chay with Big since Big you know, died.

Were there more of the main family's people outside and Kim just immediately dumped Chay on one of them? Or did Kim have to wait for others to show up? How long would he have waited? The sun is still up when Kim leaves with Chay but by the time Kinn and Porsche run out of the warehouse its night time.

Did Kim hide somewhere just outside the warehouse? Chay's still outside it when Kinn and Porsche leave so Kim couldn't have taken Chay far away, did Kim wait outside holding Chay but could still hear everything going on inside but felt like he couldn't just leave Chay alone out there?

And how long after did Kim find out Big died? (Like I know Kim saw Big get stabbed but that doesn't mean he immediately thought Big was going to die from that) I know he was probably raised to see bodyguards as disposable but Kim had some kind of friendship/level of familiarity with big. Does Kim feel guilty for bringing big along?

screenshotting other people’s fics and posting them to mock and shame writers is such an entitled, loser behavior and why twitter and tiktok are seen as ‘toxic platforms full of bullies and entitled teens’.

no one says you have to like every fic. no one says you can’t find a fic ‘terribly written’. but if at any point you find yourself not liking what you read, instead of being a dick about other people’s harmless hobbies that they do for themselves and you got to read for free, you could have just clicked the back button and looked for something else to read. or, better yet, you could’ve started writing what you wanted to read yourself.

this normalization of openly mocking other people’s fics — especially now with the raise of ai, bots harassing/trying to scam writers and the lack of positive engagement writers get — is why writers are wary about sharing their works with you. writers are kind enough to share with you what they wrote for free. you can just not read it if it’s not your cup of tea. but if you keep this mean girl bully energy up by screenshotting their works to mock and shame them, eventually there will be no fics for you to read, eventually there will be no fan contents for you to enjoy.

no artists want to share their hard works for free if they’ll just end up getting mocked by a bunch of childish bullies. if you don’t want to destroy the community and fandom you’re in, stop acting like a bully, stop mocking and shaming fics.

fanfic isn't an act of activism by the way. it's a fun hobby. writers write whatever they want for themselves as their silly little getaway/self-care. if you want "more representation" of something in fanfics, then you write fanfics about that thing you want. nobody is stopping you. but saying other fanfic writers as a whole are "the problem" or are "to blame" for "not including xyz" or "not writing about xyz" just isn't how fanfics and hobbies work.
