i think you are both missing the point of this post. it is NOT to say “see black women are trash like i said” but to instead say “see black women do the same things and yet tumblr (or black tumblr specifically) pretends like it’s only black men.” that’s the point. that was my “inspiration.” that’s the point that i made and both strandedinvegas and iambrandyb agreed to. a point that no unbiased person with experience on black tumblr can disagree with. if this post were of black men talking this fuckery we would be pushing 10k+ notes by now with all manner of “niggas ain’t shit” and “coons” type replies and reblogs. my problem with black tumblr is that it pretends that all issues in the black community stem from and are perpetuated by black men ONLY and takes that position in bashing us into the ground with slurs, generalizations, accusations of all sorts and etc YET when presented with evidence that black women do the same things, suddenly the conversation changes. the tone of how it should be discussed changes. suddenly presenting said evidence AND responding in the same manner THEY respond to ignorant black men is now a problem. all of a sudden generalizations are bad and harmful YET black men have been saying this to them when they go general and we are mocked and belittled. that’s my problem. don’t complain now when the vast majority of y’all love that shit and join when it’s black men and y’all turn a deaf ear to anyone who would object. y’all hit us with the usual “if it ain’t you why you complain for” and “of course we don’t mean all black men” and “they getting all in their feelings.”
people who are complaining about how this attacks black women are completely missing the point AND in so doing prove my point that when the shoe is on the other foot, everything changes. if these were black men, these replies would be filled with all manner of nastiness. there are plenty of posts that stand as examples. is the self hatred shown here a problem? yes. it is a problem for both black men AND women? yes. however let’s be brutality honest here, most only hear and see that it’s a problem in black men. only and that’s my frustration. it is also why i am slowly learning not to pay attention to complaints from most black women on tumblr because it’s hypocritical. they do the very thing they demand not done to them. not a single person would raise a stink if these posts were all black men. no one but switch it up and now everyone suddenly has a problem. smfh. and those who think i’m going extreme by using those black women (not the ones in the tweets mind you cause clearly people can’t read) as a reason not to listen to most black women on here have to be fucking honest with themselves and admit they do the same shit to black men. they take a few, decide we all “ain’t shit” and no one can talk them out if so why can’t they take it now? why can’t we do the same? you would think this would be a moment where we would admit the hyprocrisy and possibly decided to cut that shit out but nope. they’re going to ignore their part in this, play like they’ve done nothing wrong and turn this into a “niggas ain’t shit” post smh. bottom line, we’re supposed to walk around like black women are above reproach and never ever do shit. not over here.
so again, this isn’t a “black women are trash” post. i’ve called out black men on shit like this going way back and still do today. the point here is that black women do it too and so why don’t we speak on that in the very (VERY) same way we speak on it when black men do this bullshit? that’s the conversation i’m trying to have. no red herrings, no appeals to ridicule, no ad hominems, no relative privations and etc. nope. this. the topic and question i’ve presented. let’s discuss that. because again i can’t take y'all seriously when it’s “black man does x” and the response is “niggas ain’t shit, coon motherfuckers, bitchass nigga, fuck them, they hate us so much, we need to stop showing up for black men and etc” but when black women do the very same x, the response is “we need to have a constructive dialogue on this issue, what’s their backstory, they’re just hurting, we need to heal ourselves of all this internalized racism” and etc. if that’s the game y'all going to play, i not going to listen to none of y'all on here anymore. and that’s exactly the right thing to do. there will be many things that keep us black people from truly unifying and this incongruity will be one of them. we should all cut the shit out. black men AND black women but we can’t have this “don’t do x to me while i do x to you” bullshit going around.
and to quote the many black women on here “if it doesn’t apply to you then you have nothing to worry about.” “of course we don’t mean all black women” “why y’all getting all in your feelings?”
(also let’s take a moment and appreciate that people think that i’m saying that i’m this close to turning a dear ear to the complaints of black women on tumblr because of the TWEETS and not because of the fact that most always paint the picture that any problem in the black community is because of black men and perpetuated by black men only. appreciate that even when the conversation is right in front of their eyes, they still hear what they want to hear and see what they want to see lmao! wow)
