Nicki stood at the top of the stairs she found no joy in conversing with anyone right now, she had to much on her mind and not enough answers.
Nicki couldn't ignore the presence that stood behind her "don't you get sick of spying?"
"Not when it's my job" her father smirked. Nicki always found his 'I can be a dad when I wanna be' demeanor off putting.
"I've surrounded you with tons of peers and you always manage to be alone" Nicki found that laughable everything he said was.
"What are you gonna do?" She asked turning around to him.
"What?" He wasn't confused, he knew exactly what she was talking about.
"When they figure out your lying to them" she sassed "when they find out the only reason their here is to retrieve something you shouldn't have had in the first place, let alone what your about to use it for."
Nick scratched the back of his head "When are you gonna stop being angry with me I know what I did in the past but I- I just want my daughter back." He frowned grabbing her shoulders.
Nicki wiped her eye before the tear that had been prickling at her pupil could fall down her cheek. Nicki couldn't lie she'd missed when her dad was actually her dad, when he treated like his little princess.
"When I first came to earth, Loki's rage followed me here and your people paid the price. And now again In my youth I courted war." They both could hear Thor speaking at the bottom of the stairs.
Nicki walked down stopping halfway, "war hasn't started yet."
"You think you can make Loki tell us what the Tesseract is?" Nick asked standing in front of Nicki. It was by far his oldest trick in the book 'hide the Nicki from the guy'.
"I do not know. Loki's mind is far afield, it's not just power he craves, it's vengeance upon me. There's no pain that would prize his need from him."
"A lot of guys think that, until the pain stops." Fury said stepping closer to the god.
"What are you asking me to do?"
"I'm asking. What are you prepared to do?" Nick was now eye to eye with Thor or as much as he could be.
"Loki is a prisoner."
Nicki walked down the stairs strutting past the three men. "Then why does it feel like he's the only person on this boat that wants to be here?" With that Nicki walked away agent Coulson following after leaving Thor to ponder her words.

"phase 2 is SHIELD uses the cube to make weapons." Nicki heard a thud which she could only assume was the prototype. "Sorry the computer was moving a little slow."
She knew his deception wouldn't work forever, it was about time they knew what they were fighting for. Nicki stepped into the room leaning against a nearby counter.
"You were okay with this" Tony asked accusingly.
"I didn't even want to keep that stupid cube in holding but who am I to fight with Nick Fury" she mocked.
Nick stay calmed as he tried to explain "Rogers, we gathered everything related to the Tesseract. This does not mean that we're-"
"I'm sorry, Nick." Tony moved the computer screen towards Fury which showed plans of the phase 2 weapons, "what were you lying?"
"I was wrong, the world hasn't changed a bit." Steve shook his head in utter disappointment.
At that moment, Thor and Natasha walked into the lab. Natasha kept her eyes right on Banner. Banner looked at her pissed.
"Did you know about this?" Bruce queried looking to the red headed woman.
"You wanna think about removing yourself from this environment, doctor?" Natasha asked concerned.
Bruce scoffed at her audacity "I was in Calcutta, I was pretty well removed."
"Loki's manipulating you."
"And you've been doing what exactly?" He stated.
Now it was Natasha's turn to scoff "You didn't come here because I bat my eyelashes at you."
"Yes, and I'm not leaving because suddenly you get a little twitchy." Bruce turned looking at the director "I'd like to know why SHIELD is using the Tesseract to build weapons of mass destruction."
"Because of him." Nick pointed at Thor
"Me?" The god gawked.
"Last year earth had a visitor from another planet who had a grudge match that leveled a small town. We learned that not only are we not alone, but we are hopelessly, hilariously, outgunned." Nick said his tone carried slight embarrassment.
"My people want nothing but peace with your planet." Thor informed them.
"But you're not the only people out there, are you? And, you're not the only threat." Nick sighed "The world's filling up with people who can't be matched, they can't be controlled."
"Like you controlled the cube?" Steve leered.
"You're work with the Tesseract is what drew Loki to it, and his allies. It is the signal to all the realms that the earth is ready for a higher form of war." In Nicki's eyes Thor drew a pretty compelling case.
"A higher form?" Steve asked.
"When we go messing with things outside our world we can't just expect to say oopsie and giggle like all is for given. We had no business messing with that thing in the first place, there's a lot of other people who want and need the tesseract just as bad as we do." Nicki didn't like a lot of things and her father playing innocent was one of them.
"He forced our hand. We had to come up with something. "He glowered at Thor.
"Nuclear deterrent. 'Cause that always calms everything right down." Tony said sarcastically.
"Remind me again how you made your fortune, Stark?" Nick ridiculed.
"I'm sure if he still made weapons he would be neck deep-" Steve was abruptly cut off.
Tony frowned "Wait! Wait! Hold on! How is now about me.
"I'm sorry, isn't everything?" Derided Steve.
"I thought humans were more evolved than this." Thor seemed clearly upset by the evolution of the human race. Served him right for putting his trust in them.
"Excuse me, did we come to your planet and blow stuff up?" Nick asked with one eyebrow arched.
"Did you always give your champions such mistrust?"
This made Nicki laugh "it'd be a shock if he did trust us."
They began to argue with one another, each argument for different reasons, each person on a different side. They had been so caught up in their arguments they didn't even realize the gem in Loki's scepter began to glow brightly.
"Put on the suit, let's go a few rounds." Steve pushed as he was now ready for a fight.
Thor's laugh was loud as it boomed through the lab of the Helicarrier "You people are so petty... and tiny."
Tony rubbed his head moving away from Cap.
"Bruce tutted Yeah, this is a tee..."
"Agent Romanoff, would you escort Dr.Banner back to his-"
Bruce fumed "Where? You rented my room."
"The cell was just in case..."
"In case you needed to kill me, but you can't! I know! I tried! I got low. I didn't see an end, so I put a bullet in my mouth and the other guy spit it out! So I moved on, I focused on helping other people. I was good, until you dragged me back into this freak show and put everyone here at risk!" Bruce grew more upset as he looked at Natasha, who was now suddenly unnerved. "You wanna know my secret, Agent. Romanoff?"
"You wanna know how I stay calm?" He asked her. Natasha and Fury quickly place their hands down to grab their guns.
"Doctor Banner... put down the scepter." Nicki spoke calmly trying to get him to oblige. Bruce looked down a shocked expression washing over his face as he realized he was holding Loki's scepter, the computer beeped and they all turn to it.
"Got it." Tony said walking over to the computer Banner placed the scepter down walking over to the computer.
"Sorry, kids. You don't get to see my little party trick after all." He said sarcasim dripping off every word.
"Located the Tesseract?" Thor queried.
Tony looked up to the group "I can get there faster."
Steve began to speak "Look, all of us..."
"The Tesseract belongs on Asgard, no human is a match for it." Thor told the men as they ignored him, still fighting over who would retrieve the tesseract. Tony turned to leave, but Steve stopped him.
"You're not going alone!" Steve asserted.
Tony scoffed "You gonna stop me?"
"Put on the suit, let's find out."
"I'm not afraid to hit an old man." Tony provoked.
"Put on the suit." At that moment Banner who was looking at the monitor noticed something about the Tesseract.
"Oh, my God!"
Just then an explosion hit the ship sending them flying in different directions, Nicki groaned as she lifted herself from the ground but this ground felt really weird it was hard but in a different sense.
Looking down Nicki saw Thor underneath her she quickly untangled her legs from his allowing him to stand up, "are you all right woman of Fury?"
Nicki tried her best not to laugh she'd never been called 'woman of Fury' hopefully he understood that was her last name.
"I'm fine" she said as she stood. Nicki pulled her hair up grabbing the rubber band and tying her hair up into a ponytail.
She felt a cool hand graze over her neck almost in an instant she grabbed the hand flipping it over her shoulder, when she looked down she saw Thor on the floor once again.
"I am so sorry" she hummed helping him up. Thor let out a thundering laugh similar to the one from before. everything about him was big and mighty it made her feel small but in a good way.
"Tiny, strong, fierce" he listed "you have the might of a Valkyrie."
Nicki had no clue what a Valkyrie was but she knew it was an instinct she had when people touched her especially without her knowledge and especially in that spot.
That was the spot where hydra branded her a long time ago when they'd taken her "I'm not dirty" she told Thor .
"It's an old brand back when I was kidnapped by hydra" she didn't know she was spewing out all this information about herself she was usually highly secretive but he made her nervous and when she was nervous all she did was chatter.
A loud bang was heard down the hall not long after a monstrous growl, she was grateful for it until she'd realized looking up a Thor she took notice of his expression indicating he knew who it was too.
