I was just talking about a sick abuser (who is also a mother figure) before I went to PR. I walked into my friends house and Babaluaye was at the door to greet me. He reminded me to move with compassion and pray for her. Yemaya and Oshun were also there to hold me in love. I'm so thankful that the Orishas have provided for me what humans could/cannot. Shout out to the folks holding life down on their own, finding love outside of humans, and finding ways to thrive everyday. Here I am covered in the love of Yemaya, happy Mother's Day 💕

Just found out that one of my childhood abusers has a rare form of breast cancer. What's wild is that I thought to myself how I wished things were different with our relationship. Maybe I should have been quieter, less out spoken, less Queer, maybe I should have tamed myself then and foster care could have been avoided. As soon as I started thinking those thoughts I had to remind myself that nothing was my fault. I had to soothe the Queer ass "defiant" kid in me by reminding her that this person chose to harm me for being myself and it's ok to be sad but know that the abuse was not my fault. My daily reminder to myself: It is not your fault. Abusers abuse people. It is not your fault.
