I know you said that your current au is now gonna take a different route than Sunday in the Park. Does that mean no time skip?
...it does mean that, yes. i thought perhaps if given the choice people would rather i besmirch sondheim's masterpiece over writing 3 whole chapters of a confusing grandma/grandchild gelphie-in-the-80s dynamic??
also i wasn't going to make glinda pregnant with fiyero's child. so. here we are.
You predicted Ella Hunt pole dancing and Ariana Grande in Sunday in the Park with George, so what this is telling me is that you are all-knowing.
...ella hunt pole dancing was such a specific vision for tell all the truth, what do you mean it's come to fruition...
hey im like really late because i just saw it on insta being posted a week ago BUT DID U SEE THE NEW SUNDAY IN THE PARK WITH GEORGE W ARIANA GRANDE AND JONATHAN BAILEY TO BE OPENED IN 2027 i saw it and i thought omg wait its my favouritest fic ever wickedified being played by TWO of the wicked leads!! no gelphie in sight here cynthia erivo come on this game
afkdjsalk YES IN FACT ! THIS IS ALL I THINK ABOUT MOST DAYS !
the promise of dotiana grande is the spark that brought sunday in the park with gelphie into the world, in fact.
dotiana grande....in a corset and bustle....complaining about the heat....
it's really so serious for me.
on a scale of 1-10 how excited are u for petal dropping next week?
there's no number scale equivalent, this album is getting me through this week. this month. this YEAR.

This close, she can smell Elphaba. She can see the way her jaw clenches, too. It’s trouble, this nearness. Every time Glinda’s vision is overrun with the smattering of freckles on Elphaba’s cheeks, she tends to say things that no one else knows. Late at night with a bottle of wine between them, she once admitted to Elphaba that pink isn’t really her favorite color. It’s yellow — the color of the buttercups in the field behind her parents’ home and the walls of their dining room at dusk, the hour just before they entertained. It happens again, now. With her hand held over the drawer of the vanity where she’s hidden the ring, she says, “Fiyero and I are getting married,” and closes her eyes, waiting to hear Elphaba falling to her knees or jumping for joy. Screaming, maybe. Or squealing. But the room is silent, so quiet that they can still hear the carriages barreling down the street outside.

"i don't comment on ao3 because i don't wanna be annoying or weird" skill issue + you greatly underestimate the power dynamic here, writing multi paragraph comments is like feeding a bunch of deeply insane and possibly starved ducks at the park and watch them go completely mad over having received a piece of bread
I got a multi paragraph comment on my fic like three years ago and I still go back and read it
i love reading, i love thinking about what i am currently reading, i love thinking about what i am going to read next, i love being privileged enough to be able to read, read, read, and read so much that i never tire of it
omg your writing is so well crafted and thought out! I am currently obsessed with your Sunday in the park with George AU. How did you decide to give the painting pov bc I love it sm and think it’s so cool. Im interested in seeing how We Do Not Belong Together plays out here; I hope gelphie has a happy ending here!
anyway keep up the amazing work!
!!!! what a delight to hear, i'm so glad you're enjoying my extremely niche fic of a musical mapped onto another musical mapped onto the life of a painter in the 1880s. i have found my audience, thank god !!!!
painting pov was a Journey of Discovery. because of the format of sitpwg, we get interiority from both dot and george (the magic of musicals!! every song is a look into someone's inner monologue); but there is so much tension and miscommunication between the two, and i felt like obscuring one pov from the reader would be a way to translate that onto the page. at the same time, because of said miscommunication, sunday from solely george or dot's pov becomes an entirely different story. enter: painting pov, which gives the reader a chance to step outside of glinda's brain & recognize some of the inconsistencies in her narration without totally revealing all of elphie's secrets. sondheim plays a lot with perspective in the musical — in both 'it's hot up here' (where the painting is personified) and 'the day off' (where george embodies the dog) — and so those two songs especially are what sparked the idea.
that being said "what if i wrote a story from the painting's pov" would've 100% been a post-it-in-the-trashcan throwaway idea if i hadn't been made braver by the @blackseablacksky's amazing house pov in limerence. :)
anyway that is likely more information than you bargained for, so i'm sorry for that!! i like to talk about this fic, what can i say!! stay tuned for we do not belong together. you may be getting it...soon.
(also yes, we are giving glindot and elphageorge a happy ending, have no fear!! lots of things about sondheim are going to have to break to get there, so i hope you stick with my sacrilege for the sake of a happily ever after.)
Here are some details about my messy ass love life. (The at least i’m hot anon).
I am 37. I met my longest term partner when we were 15, we started dating when we were 17. We went to the same college together, worked for the same company. Lived together. Were together for 9 years and had one of those relationships that can only be defined by going from “I am so desperately in love with you” to “in love doesn’t fully encompass what you are to me and your name is forever engraved on my soul, even if we aren’t together.”. Unfortunately we broke up at 26 and it was devastating. It was one of those things where neither of us wanted it to end but we just couldn’t be together anymore.
Suddenly my older brother comes back into my life around that time. One day he meets a woman, they get together, they’re happy and I meet his girlfriend. We hit it off immediately. Instant besties. A year later they get married and I’m his best man. It takes his wife 2 years from the point of meeting me to realize she is in fact not straight and is in love with me. During this conversation I am hit with the crippling realization I am also in love with her. But she is married to my brother who other than her is my best friend and I can’t cross that line with her so we agree to just ignore it. We have now been in love with each other for almost a decade. She is still (somewhat unhappily) married to my brother. It kills me slowly.
I fill these years with a dozen one night stands. I always think of her and I feel crippling guilt. My ex moves back into town and we have several oopsies over the years because it’s familiar. I still think of my brother’s wife. I feel even more crippling guilt.
Then in February I meet this woman at a convention/award show (I am an artist, she is not but she does work for a gallery). We hit it off, I drag her into the alley and we make out for an hour before we’re interrupted because people are looking for me (I won an award). I whisper my number in her ear fully expecting her to forget it and nothing to come of it. She texts me a month later (she had to travel) saying she’s been thinking about me ever since. We hook up. A lot. I don’t think of my brother’s wife for the first time in almost a decade. We start hanging out more before/after hooking up. I didn’t intend to like her or to start to develop little gay feelings. But I do. But I am still in love with my brother’s wife. I cannot act on my feelings for my brother’s wife. I hang out with gallery woman more. I’m not saying I’m in love with her but I do like her considerably, even though I didn’t intent to. There is potential there.
Yesterday I am texting my brother’s wife, checking in as usual. I ask her if she is ok. She asks me what kind of a question is that, of course she’s not ok. She’s in love with me, has been married to the wrong sibling and she can’t take it anymore and she wants to be with me. I am actively on the way home from gallery woman’s apartment when I receive this message. I tell her she is married to my brother. She says she shouldn’t be and wants to be with me. I tell her we have to talk.
I have a weekly dinner with my brother and his wife to attend tonight. I will be attending after spending the morning with gallery woman. I will be wearing her sweater as I dropped ketchup on mine.
My love life is a mess and my head is going to explode.
ohmygoddd anon this response is a thousand years late. i'm so sorry. my life has been chaos but not...um. not this level of chaos.
so double apologies, actually, to you, my dear, dear messy love life anon. you were not kidding!! i'm holding both of your hands when i say this: at least you're hot.
in the darkest times and the lowest hours, we must all comfort ourselves with one simple truth: at least you're hot!!
despite an extremely odd brother-girlfriend situation of my own in my youth, i fear i am unqualified to offer advice on this, and also you didn't ask for it, so i'd like you to picture me sitting here in my corner of the internet alongside you, nodding and exclaiming at all the appropriate points. holding space, as one might say. perhaps there are nice fruity beverages between us and i am clapping at various points to remind you of the following:
you are doing your best with an extremely challenging and nuanced situation that involves the decisions of other people who you love and who love you
be gentle with yourself (AT LEAST YOU'RE HOT)
remember that you are also a factor in this situation, and you deserve to think about and reach for and advocate for what you want and need!!!
i hope dinner went okay or perhaps that the thing with gallery woman has continued in a pleasant way and i hope you're still feeling hot, because you are!!

“She’s a pretty subject, Elphaba,” Tibbett says. Elphaba releases her grip on the sketchbook just to press a finger to the line on her forehead. She keeps her eyes closed, exasperated, as she says, “And?” “And if you’re not careful, another artist might want to snatch her up.”

WICKED: FOR GOOD (2025) dir. JON M. CHU
fiction can be really dangerous there might be a deeply tragic woman in there who starts living in your head forever
seeing more and more people say that eternal sunshine is about repairing her relationship with her father and that's sweet and all but i'm really gonna need y'all to examine why you feel that all art has to revolve around a man in some way
Do you think your favorite ships (of any and all fandoms) would get married? Why or why not?
potentially unpopular opinion is that actually very few of my favorite ships would make it all the way down the aisle due to the fact that i latch onto ships that are very i would jump in front of semi-truck for you and yet i cannot define who you are to me.
so what i liked blurred lines!! so what i like a relationship that is so complicated it evades labels and words!! i will own that this is who i am, this is a core part of me. it's beautiful and messy and queer and lends a fun extra texture to the fact that all of my favorite ships are non-canonical and must operate between the lines!!
also for a lot of my favorite ships, including gelphie and emisue, i think marriage has a loaded meaning that both parties would reject. like i do love bridezilla glinda as much as the next reader, but i believe that marriage and wifehood have been such a restrictive force in glinda's life she wouldn't ever even really think to equate that institution with her feelings for elphaba. (and emily, well. we sort of know her views on the matter.)
anyway i actually wrote about this exactly in gelphie-verse, but i sort of feel it's true for a lot of the ladies i love or have loved. ♡
Girl help, my love life is an absolutely messy disaster. But at least I’m hot.
i'm LAUGHINGGG, anon. i need more details urgently.
unfortunately we do have to remain fake/real married for a year before we can get divorced
upon hearing this and offering up a very sincere *gulp* i present to you a list of things you can do in the next 365 days to make your accidental fake real marriage go by more quickly:
go on a honeymoon. tell absolutely everyone around you that you're newlyweds and reap the benefits of the heteropatriarchy while you're at it aka enjoy free chocolate and champagne and the love of the random old women that you run into at the airport who are trying to re-live their youth through your perceived love.
actually you don't even need to do this abroad. tell every bartender and waitress you come across. i NEED you to acquire free things for your suffering.
write thank you notes to everyone who did not attend your real fake wedding and did not get gifts for your real fake wedding, being sure to make them feel guilty so that they do end up sending you a toaster and/or writing a check. you see, i'm mostly motivated by getting you financial compensation for your troubles.
buying the hell out of some mr. & mrs. monogrammed items. i'm talking pillowcases. washcloths. luggage. i'm aware you likely don't live together. good. separated mrs. and mr. items in two separate apartments really adds to the bit.
go to jcpenney and take professional wedding photos that you can then print out and obnoxiously post throughout your homes. use said photos for thank you notes.
go with each other to family functions and holidays, being sure to introduce one another as husband and wife. depending on your place of employment, the office may be fair game as well. zero explanation. uncle rick and ben from accounting should be confused.
post all of the above to facebook with the utmost earnestness for the entire year (#happywifehappylife, #newlyweds, #ourmarriagejourney), including an obnoxious countdown to your one year anniversary. amass a large following of tradwife wannabes, making hundreds of thousands on brand deals. then, when the one year anniversary arrives, dramatically reveal that you are, in fact, getting a divorce. let the fandom unravel. milk the attention. i'm talking a podcast called "what went wrong." a stunt casting on broadway, perhaps. a line of poorly made custom cocktail mix. you get the picture. she's a mogul, folks!
