((i know i haven’t been active much but i have been still lurking. this is just a notice that last night my laptop refused to connect to the internet, and then refused to turn back on after attempting a restart. i got it on today, but i can’t say for sure it won’t happen again. it’s been struggling for a bit now it’s just none of the things i normally try worked last night
on the plus side: i’ve got a local friend who’s good at building computers so she’ll take care of all the parts i bought last year but was too afraid to do anything with OTL so i should have a new working computer within the week.
might attempt some drafts today or might write fic or something instead, that waits to be seen. this is just a notice that yes, i am still alive, just stuff has been happening and “what’s a focus can i eat it?”))

Căi Nà couldn’t believe it! There was a heist in Shibuya that she could actually see in person! She couldn’t remember the last time she had been close enough to attend one. Buses hadn’t been her friend while she was alive, and she was mostly confined to a single ward of Tokyo since her death.
But she could make this one!
She took a smaller bag of essentials with instead of taking her whole yarn bag, and screamed her lungs out with the rest of the crowd when the thief arrived. Kaitou Kid. She still couldn’t believe it!
There wasn’t too much of a view at this heist, but Kid was a magician and he didn’t disappoint. Even a glance was enough to fill her with excitement.
When it seemed close enough to over, Căi Nà slipped into the UG to get away from the crowd. Where had he gone? She wanted to give something to him. She would use every Reaper trick she could use if that’s what it took to find him.
Easy, easy! It was just too easy tonight, it was almost embarrassing.
Embarrassing for Shibuya’s police force, that is.
The crowd had erupted in shrieks of excitement when he made his appearance atop the building- it always gave him a thrill. He’d flown away, or so it seemed to those below- in reality, he’d joined the officers descending the stairs and quickly blended himself into the crowd. From there, it was a simple matter to get away from prying eyes and shed the police uniform for his civilian clothing.
He was certain he hadn’t been followed…so why did he feel as though he was being watched? It was like a chill running down his spine. Nervously, he looked around for a moment, but when he saw nobody, he relaxed ever so slightly- the tension of the evening finally showing externally now that the heist had drawn to a close.
Căi Nà scanned the surface thoughts of the crowd (it was enough to give her a headache to sort though everyone, but she could deal with that later) to see if anyone seemed out of place. Most of the people were focused on the show, but there was one person that was thinking about getting away more than just trying to catch the last train before the rest of the crowd.
She ran unseen.
Out of respect, she refrained from looking at his face and waited until they were alone to shift back into the RG and visibility.
“Excuse me.” She bowed low and held out a Kaitou Kid amigurumi. “I promise I didn’t look at your face and no one else can follow you like I did or not anyone who would want to anyway but I’ve been a big fan for a long time and you helped me through a lot so I really wanted to give you this if that’s okay.” The words came out in a rush of fangirlish squee, but she couldn’t help it. She had been waiting for this moment for a long time.

Căi Nà waited patiently for him to continue. If patiently included large amounts of quiet fidgeting.
“Odd-Eyes? I didnt see anyone with you. Where did they go? Did they leave you here alone? How can you tell this isn’t the Synchro Dimension? What’s diff- Ah!” She stopped her nervous babbling and gestured ahead of them. “We’re here!”
She raced ahead to open the door and hide her face a bit with the frame. There was no reason to be so nervous. This was just someone who happened to enjoy her work and had gone through something similar to what had happened to her that one time.
She breathed.
It was fine.
★ ★ — “Uh…?” Yuya could only stare at the girl, curiously tilting his head as she suddenly raced ahead. Thankfully she’d gotten herself distracted with opening the door for them both, because with that barrage of questions she’d hit him with just then, Yuya honestly wasn’t sure where he would’ve started.
But he knew where he was starting right now and that was with all the amazing sights and smells coming out of this restaurant!
“This place smells great! I don’t have a clue what they serve here, but if my stomach’s got anything to say about it, then I’m ready to dive in.” He’d pause, “They’ve gotta have burgers at a place like this, right? ‘Least that’s what it smells like.” — ★ ★
Oh no! She had asked too many questions at once. Căi Nà darted inside after him, her bag clutched as close as she could manage.
“Yeah, their burgers are great. I love their soups a lot too though.” She wasn’t really hungry at the moment. But she didn’t want to have him eat alone. Maybe she should just have a soft serve? A nice, cool treat to help her put on a brave face. Căi Nà stepped up to the counter.
“Hiya! Welcome to Sunshine! It’s nice to see you again!” Căi Nà had been to most of the shops involved in the Game frequently enough that they recognized her on sight. Shigemi Konno would sometimes chat on slow days. “The usual?”
“I’m not actually that hungry. I’ll take a soft serve swirl.” The chocolate would do her good.
“Sure thing!” After Căi Nà paid, Shigemi turned to the boy. “Welcome to Sunshine! What would you like?”

“I’ve never left Tokyo, but I’ve seen them everywhere I’ve gone.” Not exactly true, but getting lost somewhere that didn’t even seem to be from the same time didn’t count. She still wasn’t sure how it had happened.
“Oh, I just assumed because Harajuku is where all the fashion is.”
Another… dimension? “Is that what it’s called? I’ve never talked to anyone about it before. I got lost once too. Do you know how to get back? It’s scary being somewhere completely new if you don’t know how to get back. You know four dimensions? How do you keep them straight?” Căi Nà twisted the strap of her bag as she talked. A nervous habit.
The Sunshine shouldn’t be too much further, and then they could talk over food.
★ ★ — “Uh? Well, you see…” Yuya couldn’t help but pause, reaching up to give a spot beside the goggles perched on his head a thoughtful scratch. How did he explain this without it sounding too confusing? Most people he’d met from outside his world seemed completely thrown for a loop about the subject when he mentioned world hopping.
At least this girl didn’t seem to totally throw the idea out as crazy right from the start, though.
“Kinda, I guess? I can’t hop between dimensions myself, but Odd-Eyes can. He’s the one who landed in the middle of this city anyway, though this definitely isn’t the Synchro Dimension like where I thought he was taking me.” — ★ ★

“Yeah. One of them, anyway. Do they not have them where you’re from? I thought they were all over. And I don’t have any plans today, so I don’t mind taking you.” Besides, he had liked her work; that was always nice to hear. And maybe she could take notes on his outfit for a real challenge.
“It’s this way. And maybe after we’re done I can show you back to Harajuku. That’s why you’re here, right?” With that hair and that outfit it would make sense. Not that she recognized the style, but there were too many of those to keep track of anyway. Căi Nà didn’t know how anyone could.
★ ★ — “Nope, never heard of ‘em. Guess this ‘Sunshine’ place must be some kind of local chain around here, huh?” Much like he’d assumed everything was around here, too. At least when he’d skipped through dimensions before, things had sort’ve made sense. But this city just seemed like one huge maze right after.
“…But show me back to Harajuku?” Yuya couldn’t help repeat as he followed along behind the girl, tilting his head slightly at the question. Was that the name of another building here, too? “Uhh…not exactly. I’m actually just here visiting, only instead of me being from another city, I guess this must be an entirely different dimension than the four I’m used to.” — ★ ★
