indefinite hiatus

blog is on indefinite hiatus for now, now that neo is out and pretty much all of my headcanons and portrayals were proven wrong, but i’m not complaining because i really ADORED neo. i MAY bring this blog back at some point as a canon divergent tsugimi where (NEO SPOILERS) her soul was never freed from mr mew as soulless tsugumi was more aligned with my original portrayal, but for now im content just writing neku ( @shibuyacrossed​ ) thank you so much to everyone for supporting my headcanon tsugumi/hype-chan all these years and here’s looking forward to the future of the twewy RPC! i hope yall understand!

                                           “...I am, but that is beside the point, Strelitzia.” A frustrated sigh escaped her otherwise poised lips. She’d been sent here to keep an eye on things- to make sure the Game remained free of interference after Sanae’s and Strelitzia’s previous shenanigans. “Do as you wish so long as it does not interfere. Others may trust you, but I, for one, will not.”

          Tsugumi opened her mouth as if ready to retort but paused, considering Strelitzia’s words. After a few moments of pondering, she cleared her throat, giving the other a small bow in apology.

“...my apologies, Strelitzia Alba Nicolai.” The name flowed as easily off her tongue as Franz Liszt’s La Campanella from the hands of a master pianist, though her words didn’t quite match the tone one would expect from someone who was uttering an apology. Before speaking again, she cleared her throat before continuing. “Hello. Do you wish to tell me what you’re doing here? Did They truly allow you to come back here after what happened last time?”

Oof– something about that frown on her face kinda hurt a bit– she didn’t mean to disappoint. Although, it was definitely, most likely, not because of the fact she disliked her answer. 

Still couldn’t help the slight secondhand embarrassment or something from happening even slightly.

Nagi adjusted her glasses, pushing it up the bridge of her nose a bit. The girl in front of her was just simply confused apparently, shoving the thought that this stranger was someway somehow already disappointed in her in the dark, deep depths of her mind. A new thought emerged though, to help shove it away:

She wasn’t sure of what she liked? Not just that– apparently she’s not familiar with movies of all things.

In a world surrounded by digital media, you’d think she’d have some sort of preference to go off of or been to a theater or sOMETHING. She understood being indifferent to things, but this was taking it to a new level.

“Er… Aha..” There’s an awkward chuckle as she rests a hand on the base of her neck. The dreaded question: what she liked. Oh boy… Okay– Calm down. Just– tell her calmly. There’s nothing wrong with liking Anime. Definitely not. And her preference towards said media was definitely not an obsession. Pfftt–

“I tend to go for the Action and Drama types of Anime personally.” Nagi replied. “There’s this one action one about a Ninja who is constantly trying to prove himself to others. I think it’s a fun time and a good place to start.”

                                The change in expression from the girl made Hype tilt her head to the side a bit, blinking with confusion as she pondered what might have caused it. Had she said something unsatisfactory? She opened her mouth to utter a polite apology, but opted to remain silent when the girl spoke again, her mannerisms piquing the angel’s curiosity even further, unable to tell if she was feeling nervous or excited. Human emotions were often an enigma to her, after all, though she was trying to get better at deciphering them.

When the girl began to list genres, Hype’s expression eased a bit, a small smile forming on her lips as she could hear the passion in the other’s voice. These movies clearly meant a lot to her, and Hype found herself moved by her words, as simple as they were.

“That sounds interesting.” Her voice still came out monotone, but the words were genuine. “I’d very much like to start with that one, then. Would you mind helping me locate it?”

                          She gave the Reaper a small nod, the slightest tip of her head indicating her confirmation of his question. “Yes. They are very unhappy with the events that have occurred here, and they believe the Fallen is to blame.” A small pause. “I am not sure if I agree with that conclusion.”

“It’s a simple name, but he’s a simple doll.” Shiki nods, watching the girl holds her creation… Well, she assumes it HAS to be her creation, anyway. There certainly aren’t any plans in Shiki’s head to make more of him. And the stitch work was definitely hers…

“I made him when I was in high school, actually. I wanted to make a little friend of my own, since I was a little more of an outcast at the time… This was before I met Eri, my design partner.”

                        As the girl recalled the doll’s history, her subtle smile had only grown in size, her normally stoic expression melting away into a full-blown grin of awe. “He must have been a very good friend to you, then. I’m happy he could be there for you. Sometimes, our best ideas come to us when we find ourselves submerged in sorrow.” She nodded slightly at her own words, pausing before continuing.

“May I ask your name?”

            Well…at least she came inside and sat down. That was…progress kind of? She was still asking a lot of weird questions, rather than what could she get off the menu. Nicole really was unsure about this. This girl was weird, and that was coming from someone homeschooled and spent half their time in their room all day.

             It got even weirder when she mentioned her father. By first and last name too. That was making her anxiety spike. When and why did she need her dad? And why is she even addressing him like that? Couldn’t she even be polite about it? Regardless, Nicole offers a short nod. For some reason, she felt like lying wouldn’t benefit her here. It was just a gut feeling.

            “Yeah, he’s my dad.” Jesus…this chick was making her uncomfortable as hell. Nicole made effort to be polite, but to look anywhere else than at her. Even going as far as to start prepping the beans just in case she actually ordered a coffee instead of cryptic questions.

            “May I ask…why yer askin’ me alla this? Does my dad owe youse somethin’?”

                     She let out a small “mmm” noise as she mused over the confirmation she had received, nodding ever so slightly. She didn’t doubt her assumptions, but it was nice to have them confirmed as true nevertheless. It was always easiest working with the truth, and she was grateful the girl had provided it to her, despite her inability to show it.

“I thought as much. Though we were not privy to this information, it will change little going forward for the time being. Given his current status, it’s unsurprising he would keep your existence a secret. Sanae Hanekoma does not personally owe me anything. I came here to speak to him about certain violations he was involved with.” That should work as an explanation, for now. It was purposefully vague, but it seemed appropriate enough to answer the girl’s question. She deserved some sort of answer, at least, in response to Hype’s interrogation.

                             “It is more than all right... I likely would have assumed the same, were I in your position, but you are not necessarily the one they are... upset with.” Not the person they were the most upset with, anyway. She let out a wistful sigh, the eye contact she usually kept breaking for a moment as her gaze wandered astray and she played with a piece of her long, silky hair. “I do not know... But I am not ready to leave yet. I have never been more sure of myself.”

Nagi’s brows furrowed at the answer. Well– That– Definitely didn’t help. Scratching the side of her cheek, her lips curled downwards into a sort of slight frown. 

“I-I meant like what kind of movies,” Nagi tried to explain to the stranger. “Like I dunno what to tell ya. Do you like comedies? Romances? Anime or Live Action? Those sorts of things.” 

A part of her really wanted to just– go back to minding her own business and try and find that movie she was just looking for. But– then again– There was another part of her that (if she was into Anime too) would gladly give out recommendations.

         A frown of its own found its way to her face as she tipped her head to the side in a moment of confusion. “What kind?...” She didn’t seem to understand the question, and she took a moment to try to think of an appropriate answer, scanning the rows and rows of options. She seemed to have listed off a few genres, but Hype didn’t have much experience with any of the categories she had mentioned.

“I am... not sure...” She locked her fingers and twiddled her thumbs, hoping she wasn’t being too much of a bother, and that it wasn’t too obvious how out of place she was. “May I ask what kinds you like? I’m not too familiar with this type of media...”

          Nicole was…a little uncomfortable now. She wasn’t sure how to feel or even what to do at this point. This…this stranger wasn’t giving her anything to go off of. No emotions, no nothing. She was asking her such a weird question, she didn’t know how to respond to her at all. Nicole was as confused as her new companion seemed to be, so what was she supposed to do with her? She also…didn’t seem to want anything from the cafe either.

            As she claimed to be unfamiliar with them, Nicole could only just sigh silently. What was she to do? Her next question…a small elaboration of the first. What…made her think Nicole was unsure of being human? “I…yeah? I mean…dad says I am. I look like a human, walk like one, an’ talk like one too. Pops gettin’ me my papers ta legally be his kid…pretty sure tha’ wouldn’ be allowed if I wasn’ human.”

           What was she trying to get at? Did…she not think Nicole was human? Was she one of those weird girls who was starting to join the occult? Was that what this was? Either way…it was unnerving and kind of creepy. Yet, she had to maintain that customer support. Nicole had to be kind and listen.

         “I’m afraid I don’ understand wha’ yer gettin’ a’, girly. I really don’ know wha’ ya wan’.”

                    Her frown only became more pronounced at her words and she remained silent for quite some time, repeating the past few minutes over and over in her head, like a video on loop, as she tried to understand. Had she missed something? No, she was sure she hadn’t. Did the girl not know what power she possessed? Did she truly believe herself to just be a normal human?

Hype’s head tipped to the side at the mention of a father, though. That’s what ‘dad’ meant, right? Did she live here? That could only mean...

Finally, the girl walked further into the store, her footsteps nearly silent as she took a seat in front of the counter. Though the seats were perfectly comfortable, she fidgeted here and there, as if she were unfamiliar with the concept of sitting down at all. She stared, deeply (and likely uncomfortably for the ginger) into the young girl’s eyes for a few moments before speaking.

“Is your father Sanae Hanekoma?”

          Though she usually relied on the Music that accompanied creatures to tell her their mood, the emotions in Sho’s look, his posture, his actions were very clear to her, and she couldn’t help but give a slight frown. She hadn’t meant to frighten him. She wasn’t necessarily here for him...

“I do not know. Though I have not been called back just yet, I do not know what will happen if I refuse to once they call for me. I... may be branded as Fallen.” It scared her, really. Never in her existence had she thought of going against what she’d been told, but after coming here and seeing what had occurred, seeing the positive effects Sanae Hanekoma had on the city and its denizens, she didn’t think he was the one in the wrong. “You may relax, though. I did not come here for you.”

Normally void of most emotion, hints of distress could be seen in her features. Her brows furrowed, a frown tugging at her lips as she fiddled with her hands.

“Yeah. I made him when I was younger.” She chuckles. “It just felt like the right name.” Shiki gently strokes along her new thread line, as she pulls it closed. One Mr. Mew, fresh as new! With a smile, she sits him up on the counter and waves his fixed up arm.

“Thanks for bringing him in. I’m always happy to help someone fix their things.”

                 “I like it. It suits him.” She returned the girl’s smile, though hers was much more subtle as she cautiously picked up the newly fixed up doll in her hands, cradling him in her arms as if he were a newborn baby. He was so fragile and innocent, just like the life on this plane of existence. Though the doll technically had no life of his own, she could almost feel a soul inside of him...

She’d completed her goal, but she couldn’t help but find herself curious to know more.
