rise and fall || cook * blake * tara
Cook soon since tuned out to the words being shared, trying to focus on getting free instead. It wasn’t going to be easy, and the moves he made after that point were critical, the only reason he was slightly edgy was because two lives were in his hands. People he cared about, if it was just him, he knew he really wouldn’t give much of a fuck. “Yeah it’s my go to, but just know even dead I can come back to haunt ya, pal, just watch this space” he chuckled cockily. Sass was his defense, it was the thing that helped him keep his focus, especially now. This guy was physically hurting his friends and not being able to punch him in the face was practically making Cook itch with irritation. As the man walked towards Tara, he looked towards Blake and gave her a small nod, trying to reassure her that they would all get out alive. His hands continued to wiggle slyly against his restraints, careful not to attract the mans attention. Cook cringed at the pain in her scream and doing the only thing he could think of - he spoke up. “Ay, if ya gonna kill us anyway you might as well say what kinda critter you are and why ya want the venom for, eh?”
Tara was quiet, drifting in and out of her own messy thoughts, trying to use them enough to distract her from the pain. She couldn’t even describe it, honestly. As a wolf who has to break every bone once a month, she had absolutely no doubt this felt worse. The poison felt like it had soaked into her bones, making their structure crumble and her body entirely week. She hated every second, but also because she knew she literally didn’t have the strength to fight even if she was given the chance. If her father could see her now, what would he think? He never raised someone so weak, and that’s exactly what she felt like – weak. Giving an almost salty look towards their captor, she stayed quiet even when the chatter was happening. What good was talking now? Tara didn’t even have the energy, either way he was going to do what he was going to do, no stopping him. Snapping from her half assed state, the blonde gritted her teeth and groaned when she felt the blade touch her cheek. Just when she thought she could hold back a scream, or even a sob, she let out both involuntarily when the knife cut into her skin. Though her blood was already dowsed in poison, she could feel it like salt against an open cut only a hundred times worse. The man pressed his hand over her wound, which only made it all the more painful given that she tried to turn her face away from him. “What? That didn’t feel good?” he cackled. “Fuck you…” Tara choked out, spitting the blood that had ran into her mouth onto his face, wishing she had the energy to at least kick him, but nothing seemed to function right. At least, if he was hurting her, he wasn’t hurting her friends - even in the torture she was in, she still thought that to be a plus.
Blake eventually forced her eyes back to Tara watching as the steam the wolfsbane had caused to her cut lift from her cheek. Seeing her friend in pain made her stomach turn and she hated that she couldn’t do a single thing about it. He had all the power, which made her angry. All she knew that she had to do was pull his attention back, whether she’d prefer not to feel more pain she had no choice. The wolfsbane had already entered their systems, if he focused on only one of them, it could kill them but if he went back and forth they might still have a chance to survive. That’s if Cook could get out of the restraints. “You didn’t answer him.” Blake said groggily. “Why do you need our venom? The cure for a wolf bite is in this town and our leader is more than close to him so why even bother?” She spat, weakly but she still tried to have an undertone of attitude. The man turned his head to look at Blake, setting the needles down beside him only to reach into his pocket once again and pull out the herb itself. “The venom is just for precaution.” He turned his head to look back at Tara with a smug smile, bringing the wolfsbane up to her cheek and running it along the cut, applying pressure as the seconds went by. Her screams made Blake lunge forward, only to feel the pain of the ropes practically making her want to pass out. “Stop! Stop! Look! I can give you it easily!” She tried yelling, which made the man pull the herb away from Tara’s cheek so he could look over at Blake. Her eyes glowed, while her mouth slightly opened so her fangs could show. Grabbing the needles he had placed down he made his way over to Blake, reaching his hand out to grab her by the face, moving her head around with force. With his hand so close and her fangs out she lunged forward again, through the pain, trying to bite him only for him to pull back. The burning pain was hitting her so much her fangs disappeared and her eyes went back to their normal state. “You think you’re smart?” He asked mockingly then felt her cheek sting from his hand slapping her and then it burned when she realized the herb was still in his hand, which he moved around to her mouth and started shoving it down her throat, making her choke on it, feel the intense burning, and cough up spurts of blood.
