THIS IS NOT A DEMOCRACY!!
People in Aurora, CO peacefully protesting the murder of Elijah McClain. They are sitting in the grass literally listening to violins being played in his honor. And the fucking Gestapo is unleashed! WTF!!
Why are the police militarized against tax paying citizens!! White men with guns can storm a Government building in Michigan and THEY don’t get this sort of treatment!?! And I don’t want to hear shit about looting & rioting because CLEARLY that is not what’s going on here.
I say again THIS IS NOT A DEMOCRACY! This is a corporate-run plantation where we are expected to consume and comply only.
CNN Live coverage when Trump was walking towards the church
Everyone would feel the absence of the U.S. Postal Service -- especially in a pandemic.
The U.S. Postal Service will run out of operational funds by the end of September unless Congress intervenes, Postmaster General Megan Brennan told members of the House Committee on Oversight and Reform in a Thursday video conference.
Mail volume has dramatically slowed during the coronavirus crisis due to widespread business closures, and the USPS is bracing for a steep drop in revenue. But its postal workers remain on the front lines of the crisis, handling prescription drug shipments, lab test materials and medical supplies that are crucial to efforts to contain the virus. Mail-in voting has also allowed the democratic process to survive in the era of social distancing.
The Postal Service, which employs 650,000 people, is asking for $75 billion in aid from the government, and, according to The New York Times, another $14 billion to pay off debt related to a retirement benefits program ― a whopping $89 billion total.
Yet because the Postal Service technically operates under the executive branch, and President Donald Trump has displayed a bizarre hostility to it since taking office, it seems likely that the agency will receive some pushback.
Highest recommendation.
Republicons currently busy bailing out cruise lines and airline management have been trying to destroy the USPS for decades, in order to crush a union, and privatize all mailing to let prices skyrocket.
Would they actually facilitate these over half a billion workers getting thrown out of their jobs in these current cataclysmic circumstances? Sure.
Would they disrupt this critical supply line for people to get medicines and goods delivered during this pandemic? Absolutely.
Whenever there is a question of whether Republicons will do something harmful, manipulative, short-sighted, and incredibly outrageous, the answer is “Yes. Of course they will.”
That’s especially the case here, where they can also destroy completely the option of voting by mail. Republicon agendas are unpopular among large majorities of Americans when they aren’t presented as Republicon voter loyalty platforms. One day their voters might catch on. But even if they don’t, Republicon power requires the constant destruction of democracy by allowing as few people to vote as possible.
We can’t let this happen. The public needs the Postal Service.
