Write it shitty, write it scared, write it without a clue but don't you be so spineless and have an AI write fanfic for you.
On one hand I'm glad they're tagging so I have the option of engaging with the content (and you bet I'm making a CSS visual flag for this).
But also... Are we at the point where this is just unironically okay in some people's minds?
I could almost - almost - understand if we were making fun of how delightfully bad and broken it can be. But this just baffles my mind. Maybe it's a process thing? For me, I get my ideas through maladaptive daydreams and the energy I surround myself in. The fun comes from thinking that up in the fly and rolling with whatever wild ride we're on. So I just cannot wrap my head around this.
People have tried to argue AI slop should t be allowed on AO3 and I would agree — except it won't stop it from being posted. It'll just stop it from being easy to avoid.
But I've seen a turn of phrase being shared around when it comes to AI recently and it definitely applies here:
"if you didn't take the time to write it, why would I take the time to read it?"
