someone said they didn’t “get” sophie until she literally cried in front of her mom and it made them finally see her as soft and not stone cold. YALL DON’T SEE HOW BAD THAT IS ESPECIALLY FOR BLACK WOMEN!???????? y’all stay telling on yourself.

sophie was always soft. she was always a beautiful complicated character. just because she didn’t have the viola davis snot running down her face every episode doesn’t mean she was cold. just because she wasn’t frolicking under kate’s cape doesn’t mean she was cold. just because she disagreed with kate/batwoman doesn’t mean she’s been cold. just because she denied an ultimatum and stayed with her husband doesn’t mean she was cold.

they spent all of 14 episodes explaining her character and it took her breaking down in front of that woman (who was that? 🙃) for y’all to finally “get” her. and it’s how black women struggle alone because y’all “don’t see it” or “get it” and we just have a bad attitude and crazy and cold unless we bawling and then we’re being dramatic. like tf y’all want?

i love how everyone IGNORES the fact that kate refused and refuses to listen to anything she said/says and fandom couldn’t see anyone hurting BUT kate. all sophie said is i can’t be out because [VALID FUCKING REASON] and kate keeps pushing basically and because sophie isn’t falling all over her she’s the bad guy and “cold”.

Trans girl thrown into adult men's prison — without single criminal charge

A 16-year-old transgender girl in Connecticut has been incarcerated in an adult men’s prison for nearly a month — and she still hasn’t been charged or convicted of a single crime.

“Jane Doe"was living in a home for traumatized youth when authorities claim she attacked a staffer. But no criminal charges are even pending against her.

Instead, the teen has suffered in SOLITARY CONFINEMENT for weeks without treatment or educational training  — and instead of letting her go, the Department of Correction wants to send her to a men’s prison where she’ll be at high risk of abuse and sexual assault!

Please, join us in calling on Connecticut Gov. Dannel Malloy to release “Jane Doe” from prison and return her to state custody, placing her in a juvenile facility with kids of her gender if the state still plans to press charges!

Just so everyone remembers, this girl is a multiple rape victim who has been physically and sexually abused not only by her own family, but also by staff in DCF group homes. She “assaulted” a male staffer who GRABBED HER FROM BEHIND, a male staffer who has since been fired.

DCF lied to the court to get authorization to put this girl in prison, claiming that the staff she assaulted were “seriously injured” when the police report in fact says there were only minor injuries. And now DCF – not Corrections, but DCF – is petitioning to put her in a men’s prison.

We'll see about that. Grace is in 3x03. Their reunion will be intense. It does seem Grace is in a decent amount of episodes this season. Perhaps, we'll get this storyline fleshed out a bit.

To be clear, Anissa's romantic entanglements and relationships are not the most important or most interesting things about her. I'd be just as invested in her if she were not in this thing with Grace and completely single.

My thing is they DID put her in this relationship with Grace and have been half-assing it almost the whole time. So I've become frustrated with their treatment as a couple.

Agreed. I was very excited about the relationship when it was first revealed in S1, then Grace was MIA for the rest of the season, then they totally rushed the relationship in S2 to the point where it doesn’t even feel like a real relationship yet. It’s just very messy and somewhat unfair, especially considering the fact that Jennifer and Khalil’s straight romance storyline was given multiple episodes, was fleshed out, and was deemed important enough to be a big part of the mid season finale. Meanwhile Thundergrace got about a total of 15 minutes for the entire season, most of which were very short scenes that, while they were cute, sometimes felt just thrown in and didn’t add much to the plot, which makes no sense now that we know Grace is a meta & there’s a whole story that goes with that. I wish the writers on BL knew how to handle LGBT relationships the way I’ve seen other shows, like Supergirl, for example, handle them. But while I enjoy Supergirl, it doesn’t have the black representation that Black Lightning offers, but then Black Lightning struggles with delivering proper LGBT representation. It’s just disappointing because I really thought this show would be legit with the wlw romance since thundergrace is canon, but at this point, we’ve pretty much been queerbaited. I can only hope things improve this season, but honestly, I’ve been disillusioned with the whole ship as of late.
