Day ∞
I see on analytics that there are still some hits going to this place so let me invite to my new one pic per day thingy. I live in Kranj, Slovenia now and post stuff from there.
Day 155 (2nd July)
This is the only photo I took during 6hrs of 2nd July I spent in Iceland so it gets unearned privilage of being last photo of the blog, at least for now.
I'm in Amsterdam right now trying to use my short time here for exploring the place so I don't have time for extensive summary. Anyway, I'm very happy that I made this blog. There are some inconsestencies in the content and I was late with the posts many many times but well, I did it.
Bless, bless.
Day 154 (1st July)
It was last day in Bifröst obviously filled with a lot of last things: last Samkaup coffee, last laundry trip, last frozen pizza etc. Some first things as well though, finally I explored high floors of two school buildings and on the way found out some interesting facts about Bifröst history by analyzing old pictures. It was really really small before 1990 (3 buildings?!) and Bollakots (the buildings on the right, I lived in one of them) were built in some expansion spur in the begining of 90s (I was guessing that those are from 80s).
Anyway, getting to highest floor made it possible to make this picture of ‘the street’ which was my home.
Day 153 (30th June)
It was micro-brewery beer tasting day as well but mostly it was about really painful and time-consuming cleaning of the apartment in order to get deposit back. This whole day&night adventure finished with enormous success and in the middle of it (22 PM) there was this amazing sky over Bifröst. Will miss that!
Day 152 (29th June)
Mt. Baula was feautered on this blog many, many times, e.g. 5 days ago. Today I finally climbed this almost 500m high pile of stones! It’s a little bit 900m over the sea level, but well, during the hike really interesting part begins when you reach the point where substantial vegetation ends and steepy rocky monster begins. In some places it was quite hard (going back mostly) but extremely rewarding. Weather wasn’t perfect (it was when I already climbed down, when I started climbing up the peak was clouded) but the clouds gave the scenery incredible light combinations (so hard to pick photos!).
Anyway, 3 days to leave, looking at Bifröst from Baula was a perfect goodbye ritual I guess.
Day 151 (28th June)
Today I went to Reykjavík in order to make one last final trip before coming back to the continent, had to go back because of the enormous sets of setbacks and low resistance to perspective of having no money exactly during time of going back. Not very good day. Coming back through Borgarnes brought back memories of coming to Bifröst in January, completely different place!
Day 150 (27th June)
Soap football day, all the bifröstian engaged in pretty riddiculous event of playing football on very slippery pitch, eating free pylsur (=hotdogs) and drinking free beer. Whole thing as riddiculous as Buddha in the lobby of Kaffi Bifröst.
Day 149 (26th June)
One last drive around Hvalfjörður on the way to Keflavík Airport with a friend. Sad times of goodbyes.
Day 148 (25th June)
Some time ago my time in Iceland started to be acompanied by unusual number of different fuckups. Last few days were particularly filled with them, one of them is the fact that I neglected the blog so much exactly when I should prepare some very good ending. And another one was flat tire in exchange students car, just nearby Bifröst on short photo-making trip.
Day 147 (24th June)
Certainly one of the very Icelandic things are those one-way bridges everywhere. This one is just be the ringroad leading to some rocky road on the other side of the river. And over it Mt Baula.
Day 146 (23rd June)
Area around Húsafell, glimpse of deserty parts of highlands.
Day 145 (22st June)
Walking through some strange parts of Reykjavík. And by the way, winter is coming! Days are getting shorter now, yesterday sky was finally clear and the night was amazing, too bad that too tired & lazy for photos.
Day 144 (21st June) Massive Attack at Secret Solstice Festival. Honestly, I didn't enjoy it very much.
Day 143 (20th June)
Unfortunately I missed perfect moment for beautiful photo with patch of clear sky in the middle of the night just over Vestmannaeyjar on the horizon but this one I like anyway. 6.30 AM, waiting for a ride.
Day 142 (19th June)
I saw Seljandafoss waterfall from the distance at least 3 times before but this time I came close to this popular spot and liked it so much that I’ve spent there a couple of hours. Charming place, especially before all the crowds start to come around 4 AM.
Day 141 (18th June)
It was quite dark, I didn't have tripod but this place is amazing.
Day 140 (17th June)
Skógafoss is probably my favourite waterfall out of those I've seen, really picturesque one and distinct memories related to the place. 2 years and 4 months ago I've taken there cheesiest picture ever and almost destroyed my tripod while doing that. It was really good to see it with greenery around this time.
