If the Most Recent Windows Update Just Screwed over Your Drawing Tablet:
There are some solutions and workarounds for turning off Windows Ink, which seems to be the root of the problem of making people’s pens go crazy. It will make your tablet actually start working decently again with your normal commands/gestures, but due to some kind of bug or whatever, turning off Windows Ink also disables pen pressure. So how do fix for a workaround? The first is the Photoshop Fix that was found by @mandyjacek (click for the thread!) where you have to go into Photoshop’s files and add in a txt file you can write very simply yourself that forces Photoshop to use the TabletPC API instead of the WinTab API. After a restart, it began working for me again more or less like it should.
The Second is in SAI:
i was almost as if the developer knew there were gonna be some bullshittin’ down the road and gave us an option. I haven’t seen a fix for CLIP STUDIO or other art programs yet, but this is at least a start until Windows and Wacom get get back to seeing one another eye-to-eye again.
These have at least worked for me, and I hope for you all as well.
not sure if this has been found already but i found something that worked for for me with CLIP STUDIO.
first turn OFF windows ink!
Then open CLIP STUDIO and go into PREFERENCES
Finally go onto the Tablet option. from there change it from TabletPC to Wintab!
hopefully this will work for you if you use clipstudio!
Reblogging for the Clip Fix!
Gotta try that PS and Sai one!
I will say the most recent update did not affect my system since I run off of Windows 7, BUT this is helpful for anyone who is having issues
Studying Trees by Fabian Rensch
Oh, hey, here’s the thread I wrote on my twitter! Advice for getting started drawing backgrounds~ :)
Psa for artists: learn 3D!Based on job inquiries I’m on a fairly short list of stylized 3D artists. If you can translate your unique 2D style to 3D there’s honestly not a lot of competition
For artists who have problems with perspective (furniture etc.) in indoor scenes like me - there’s an online programm called roomsketcher where you can design a house/roon and snap pictures of it using different perspectives.
It’s got an almost endless range of furniture, doors, windows, stairs etc and is easy to use. In addition to that, you don’t have to install anything and if you create an account (which is free) you can save and return to your houses.
Examples (all done by me):
Here’s an example for how you can use it

Failed at inktober once again but got in a couple drawings that I didn't think we're so bad
A day late! But I'm going to try to keep up with inktober. Here's the #1 JoJo to kick things off
so how do you pick your colors for your drawings? The colors you use are so pretty and bold/soft i love it
MY honest answer is i just got really bored of constantly using realistic colors, so one day i decided to use some with a bit more pop in my stuff haha. but hmm, let me try to deconstruct how i think i work…
knowing the basics of color theory helps of course. i dont think you need anything crazy though, i’ve just gone on what i learned in the dying, almost nonexistent art department back in my high school, pfft. just a little familiarity with the colorwheel will probably go a long way.
i suppose the main two points i keep in mind are (1) switching hues instead of just going darker for shadows/highlights and (2) playing with the juxtaposition of warm and cool, or near-complimentary colors.
FOR EXAMPLE!…
here, instead of simply going with a darker green for the coat’s shadows, i changed the hue a bit by adding more blue. on the other hand, for the pants’ shadows, i used the same cool blue-green, which then ends up contrasting nice with the pants, which are a warmer purple color.
that’s one of my more vibrant drawings, but you can do it more subtly too:
overall a pretty drab palette but as you can see green shadows on pinkish skin, reddish purple shadows (and highlights!) on the blue coat. those contrasts just make things pop a lil more. personally i just find it fun and more interesting to look at!
just don’t be afraid to throw colors around, you’d be surprised at how some go together. that’s what i do, haha. hope that’s somewhat insightful :^)
I cant decide which I like better I just know I love him
What a great episode today :')
HOW I DRAW POSES FROM LOW ANGLES
With the art tutorials that I’ve seen around the internet that focus on this particular subject I’ve found that some use curvy or spherical shaped objects.
I’ve always found these methods a bit hard to understand for me because I for one CANNOT DRAW FREAKIN EFFORTLESS NATURAL CURVY LINES LET alone DRAW a FREAKIN CIRCLE!!
With this tutorial I’ve stripped it down to the bare essentials.
Poses at these angles are used a lot in animations or comics.
My tutorial for poses viewed at high angles can be found here.
