❍ For Castorice, being able to dance with the people she held dear had been something of a dream. She had grown up alongside children that always danced at the festivals of Aidonia, envious that they could spend time in one another's warmth without the burden of being a Divine Priestess or the Maiden of War. She had practiced all by her lonesome, danced in isolation, but none of that was the same.

She was surprised when he grabbed her so confidently, still not accustomed to anyone reaching out for her without even an iota of hesitation. "I think so as well." She didn't mean to sound cocky, she was just happy. It was easier for her to be positive about herself these days.

She followed his lead, careful to make a mental note of how he danced. All of the Heirs likely had their own personal quirks when it came to dancing. As she understood it, there was probably no singular "correct" way to dance. "As I thought, from watching you in the past, you're well practiced. You're very confident in how you lead, Lord Phainon. Very warm." Like the sun, of course.

Dancing, or rather, appeasing, the higher ups in Okhema has always been a practiced affair. There are rules to be followed, structures to be upheld, and someone like Phainon is expected to dance full of confidence. That is the same energy he brings to the table, albeit with one major difference. Dancing with Castorice means dancing with a friend, something he hasn't been able to do for a long time. So he gets to relax, not worry too much about his form, and just let him get swept away by the music.

"I'll take that as a compliment." He smiles at her, making sure to go with simple steps that she could follow. "Truthfully, my dancing is stiffer than this, but we can forgo some of the stricter principles this time."

A step here, a pirouette there, he keeps his composure through it all: Castorice, after all, is relying on him to show her the ropes. "You're doing well yourself, Castorice. Especially for a beginner."

" You're not allowed to laugh at this, alright?!" but if he did, she wouldn't be upset. but stelle is quick to drag him to a spot nearby, stopping in front of what looked to be three snowmen: two were obviously meant to be the parents while a smaller one was a child. they were decorated in scarves matching that of the colors of the clothing she remembers his parents wearing back in his hometown. each and every one held a smile and were holding hands– well, holding sticks with packs of snow meant to represent hands but she is sure he gets the picture! " This too." a small box is placed into his hand and upon opening it, phainon would find a smaller version of the lance of preservation, perfected over countless all-nighters. " I can't give you the real thing, but it's only fair since I have that tiny Dawnmaker, don't you think?" stelle nudges his arm with her elbow, flashing a grin. " Happy holidays, Phainon."

How could he laugh at this, when he can feel the love and care that were put into crafting these snowmen? Phainon could easily tell who is supposed to be who, and that alone leaves a pang in his heart. He misses his parents now that he is trapped here, but at least he knows that they are alive and well. He hesitates to touch the ones here, too, as if his heat would melt down the snow and whisk the magic away.

Phainon thought it would be that, and a thank you was already about to leave his lips, when another surprise has been waiting for him. His hand trembles at the charm, very familiar with the weapon that Stelle carries upon her person. But there will be no tears coming from this Deliverer, not when he is happy beyond compare.

"Happy holidays to you too, partner. No words could describe how thankful I am to know you."

"are you having trouble deciding?" with her tendency to watch from the sidelines, she noticed one particular gentleman lingering by the table, hand hovering between a few of the various plates of food. spoiled for choice, perhaps? but understandable given how appetising all of it looked.

"if you don't mind suggestions," she points now to one of the plates he'd been indecisive over, whether he chose to follow her advice is entirely up to him. "why not try this one first."

Indeed, having no preferences on food makes it difficult for one to choose where to start. It's inevitable that Phainon would end up trying a bit of everything, knowing his appetite, but the order of which should be consumed first is important, too. One shouldn't have dessert before the main course, for example.

It's fortunate that a rather handsome lady has come to his rescue. He shoots at her a polite yet grateful smile as he heeds her suggestion. A heaping spoonful of pasta it is.

"Thank you! You're a life saver."

"The happiest of holidays, Phainon." presenting to him with a smaller box, she awaits for him to open it. once he does, he'd find a handcrafted bracelet, with each charm on it reminiscent and representing every one of the heirs he has grown close with during his time with them. "It is indeed a small gift, but I understand that this would touch your heart far more than something expensive or truly elaborate."

Oh.

Phainon's eyes water for a bit, seeing the bracelet carefully packaged and prepared for him. He could easily identify each heir in each charm, each one holding precious memories and connections. He can't help but bring out the first bracelet Aglaea has given to him — the one that he has lost during their battle with Aquilla, returned to him thanks to fate.

Now, at the end of their hardships, he can wear both bracelets with pride.

"Thank you, Lady Aglaea." There is nothing but gratitude in his eyes. "This is the best gift you could have ever given me.

Castorice snuck up behind Phainon and revealed herself by tapping him on the shoulder and holding out her gift at the same time. "Happy Holidays, Lord Phainon!" She'd made him a silver plushie inspired by one of the fairies from Membrance Maze. "I wanted to give you something that reminded you of your hometown! I hope I managed to capture their likeness... although I could only really pull from my memories of Mem."

It's good to see Castorice become more comfortable interacting with others through touch, even if the contact does surprise him. He's about to greet her when suddenly a stuffed toy is placed on his hands.

He can see his likeness to it, from the silver fur to the bright beady eyes. Such an adorable plushie only deserves the brightest of smiles.

"I think you did an outstanding job, Castorice. Thank you."

❍ "Lord Phainon! Would you like to dance with me?" Castorice had a laundry list of things that she had wanted to do with her friends that she now didn't have to worry about doing. There were so many activities that involved touch that a normal person just didn't think about, and dancing reminded her of watching the other kids doing the same when she was small herself.

"I'm not very well practiced... for obvious reasons. But I thought you might know well enough to lead." If she made a fool of herself then she could trust Phainon to laugh it off, at least.

Phainon, on the other hand, does have some experience with dancing. Part of it comes from his knowledge of harvest festivals in Aedes Elysiae, the rough merrymaking he has participated in as a child in order to celebrate fruitful bales of wheat and other produce. A history of more refined dances comes later, thanks to his position as Deliverer: being such a public figure meant keeping up appearances, and that includes appeasing the Council and their strange strange qualms about the Flame-Chase.

This is all to say that he's very much eager to show Castorice the ropes, and he's quick to place his hand over her own, gently pulling her to the dance floor.

"You're going to do well, Castorice." He says it with the confidence of shining stars. "Just follow what I do, and you'll be fine."

Best to start with something slow — as slow as the tempo of this song would let them, at least.

" And thank the Titans she did. Some things need her touch, I'll admit that much. " he doesn't even want to think just what the outfit could have been, even if he was curious to a degree. " She just wants the best for you, even here."

"She always does." He always speaks of Aglaea with fondness, akin to a son talking about his beloved mother. "I can only hope that she could enjoy and do something for herself, for once."

" Heh– the rallying songs of the soldiers is hardly fit for the dance floor. Unless it's a feast before a fight but this is hardly that." there'd be no blood shed here, thankfully. and as he turns to the other, he can't hide the (exaggerated) shock. " Did Aglaea get a hold of you? For once your clothes won't want to make someone turn away in horror."

And oh, here goes the forlorn look of someone who has lost a war. "She insisted." And burned his original outfit for good measure. "And I couldn't refuse her when she's like that, you know."

" Hmm....it's been some time since I've been at such a lively gathering. So this is the music famous throughout the cosmos.....not bad."

"She has a lovely voice." The visitors from beyond the sky have told him about Robin before, but this is his first time he gets to hear it for himself. "Very different from the rallying songs of your soldiers, no?"

Phainon's outfit has an idol-ish flair to it, and thankfully he doesn't look like a fashion disaster. He'll be around mingling over food and drink, and maybe just chilling at the side. He'd accept any offers to dance, though!

SO FAR THERE IS NAUGHT ANYTHING SUSPECT, the way he seems to scrutinize the cloth in hand rather than she herself. still, it does little to dissuade her, especially after their esteemed guest's approach to her when they first met within these lands. for now...

He can't help but flinch — time and time again has Lady Aglaea pointed out his choices are, in her own words, 'wholly mismatched in their textiles and colorings'. Phainon truly doesn't understand: the combinations are entirely fine in his own eyes! But who is he to deny the lady Goldweaver's words, especially when this is exactly her area of expertise? Not to mention, this is his beloved teacher, one whose words and advice he respected.

The deliverer looks at the pastel green cloth in his hands, eyes squinting as he tries his best to think of a good match.

"…Pink, perhaps?"

Following my castmates' trail and here to say that Phainon has been updated to post-3.7! Not a lot of changes on his end though since much of the revelations did happen on his "debut" patch, but his demeanor might be slightly different on posts going forward. His exterior shell is still the same, though!

THERE'S ONLY ON REAL BOAT HE'S BEEN ON 一 the one that takes you back to the house of hades once your time has come. but this was, plainly put, exciting enough for him to hop on immediately without second thought. even now, after being told about the obstacles ahead, he only took it as a challenge for him and this fellow stranger who had hopped onto the same vessel as he did. ❝ Have you sailed anything like this before? ❞ maybe he should have asked this before they decided to get on together, the ship smoothly sailing through the sands with no obstacle in sight for the immediate time.

only when he turns back does he realize that there was no way to call it off, an earnest look crossing his expression as he decides to inform his newfound crewmate.

❝ I wouldn't think about turning back if I were us, mate. Not unless you want to face a... sandstorm? Is that what they call it up here? ❞

Initially he imagined the boats to be akin to those in Aedes Elysiae, the old rickety ones they always use to fish up at the sea. Somehow, these sandboats end up being grander than those — still a humble craft, yes, but there was care and new polish to these vessels. Clearly they were made solely for the festivities, and perhaps that is enough to ensure the safety of their users. Maybe.

Fear is not a word that exists in the Kremnoan dictionary, and it's hardly present in Phainon's vocabulary either. Instead, he takes on this challenge as a new form of excitement, something he has never been able to experienced before. Perhaps the daredevil inside him took that caution sign as a challenge instead.

"I come from a fishing village, so I have some experience with boats. Never sailed across sand before, though!"

Phainon's eyes practically sparkle at his words.

"Our only course is forward, then? I don't think a sandstorm is something I'd be able to fend off with my sword."

❍ "A yellow hoodie and purple... Ah." So that was the issue. "Have you ever heard the saying "less is more"? Even complementary colors can become overwhelming if you aren't careful with the distribution..."

"I don't claim to be as knowledgeable about fashion as Lady Aglaea, but I do have some experience with colours from making plushies. Purple and yellow can be very harsh on the eyes depending on the intensity, so you could consider wearing more muted shades, or using different colours as a base and adding splashes of purple and yellow?"

"If the color is more muted though, wouldn't it be harder to appreciate those colors? If they're bright and vibrant, you get to really see what those colors represent!"
