The Ravenhall Witch

Part 3

Snakes

 

            Audrey, Bella and Tony sat in silence at Bella’s apartment. They all gathered together after hearing the news. It was less than a full day since they all hung out together.

            “They said he just freaked out and just started running through the mall screaming, like he was running from something.” Bella said, staring off into space, still in shock from the news.

            Audrey sat down quietly as tears came down her cheeks.

            “Did he seem weird at all?” Tony asked.

            “No, he was fine, just a little hungover” Bella said.

            “He said he saw a spider" Audrey said.

            “He saw a spider?” Tony asked, looking confused.

            “Yeah, he thought he saw a spider, so what?” Bella asked.

            “Last night when I freaked out it was because I thought a snake crawled on me” Audrey explained.

            Bella and Tony looked confused.

            “So?” Tony asked, looking puzzled.

           “Maybe it’s more than a coincidence” Audrey said, looking distraught.

            “That you both are afraid of the creepy crawlies?” Tony began to get annoyed.

            “Audrey, stop trying to freak us out!” Bella snapped.

            “I’m not! I saw the snake! I felt it crawl on me and now Michael is dead!” Audrey began to get hysterical.

            “What the fuck is your problem?!” Tony asked as he began to get frustrated with Audrey.

            Audrey got up and began to storm out of the apartment.

            “Audrey” Bella called out to Audrey to calm her down as Audrey slammed the door.

            Audrey ran to the elevator. She got into the empty elevator as the doors opened. She tried to collect herself as the elevator headed down. She began to hear a hissing noise. She tried to tune it out. Maybe she was just imagining things. She began to take a deep breath and relax. Suddenly, she heard the hissing again. She began to tense up. The hissing got louder until suddenly the panel in front of the elevator buttons fell off, and a few snakes with it.

          Audrey back up into the wall of the elevator, screaming. She heard a hissing noise come from above her as more snakes began to fall in from the ceiling of the elevator. There were dozens of snakes in the elevator as Audrey screamed in horror. There was no escape. She felt a snake bite her as she screamed in pain. Her screams did not stop the snakes. She felt a snake crawl up her leg. As she tried to pull it off, another slithered around her arm. She felt more snakes bite her as she began to get covered in snakes.

            Suddenly, the elevator doors opened, and the snakes were gone. Audrey began sobbing as she quickly ran out of the elevator, away from the building.

Part 2

Spiders

 

            Michael was still hungover from the night before. It was another fun day of work at the smoothie restaurant at the mall. Business was slow and he couldn’t wait for the day to be over.

            “You look like you’re having the time of your life.” Audrey said as she approached the counter with Bella by her side.

            “You feeling better, Audrey?” Michael asked.

            “Ya I just think that weed was laced with something.” Audrey smirked.

            “We were all fine.” Bella said smugly.

            “You were scared, Bella.” Audrey said bluntly.

            Michael continued to clean the counters while they chatted. Suddenly, he felt something crawl on his hand. He looked and saw a spider, causing him to jump.

            “Um, are you okay?” Bella asked as she gave Michael a funny look.

            “Ya it was just a spider.” Michael responded.

            “What spider?” Bella asked, looking puzzled.

            Michael looked down to realize there was no spider.

            “I could’ve sworn I saw a spider.” Michael said, continuing to look around for the spider.

            Audrey thought to herself about the previous night with the snake. She saw the snake only for it to immediately disappear, like it was never there. She wondered if Michael had the same experience with the spider that she had with the snake. She also found it peculiar that she was essentially terrified of snakes, the same way Michael was especially terrified of spiders.

            The girls parted ways with Michael as he continued on his workday. He worked all by himself without a customer in sight, but that gave him plenty of time for his cleaning. He had gotten all his regular duties done and decided to do some cleaning under the ice cream freezer. He pulled the freezer out from underneath the counter, and to his horror, spiders began to crawl out from behind the freezer. Michael jumped back and screamed.

            “What the fuck is your problem?” a voice called from behind Michael.

            Michael turned around to see a stranger. The man had looked at Michael as if he was crazy. He realized several other people were staring. He looked at the freezer and saw there were no spiders. He wondered if he had gone crazy. He decided to just go home.

            Michael went to the back office to grab his jacket, and as he left, he was shocked to see the mall had completely changed appearance. The people were gone, and the mall was empty and filled with spider webs. Michael looked all around him as the spiders were crawling out from the spider webs towards him. He stood there in shock until he felt spiders start crawling onto his hands and let out a horrified scream. Michael ran through the mall as several spiders began crawling out of the spider webs towards him. As he ran from the ever-growing crowd of spiders, brushing spiders off him as he ran, he saw the exit and ran for the exit towards the mall courtyard. Michael was shocked to find that the mall courtyard was a cavern now, full of spider webs. He kept running through the dark tunnel. He had no idea how to leave. None of it made sense. He couldn’t comprehend how the courtyard was now a cave. Suddenly, Michael heard an eerie voice.

            “This way. This is the way out.”

            Michael looked in the direction of the voice. He didn’t see anyone, but he did see a small opening with light shining through. Michael ran without hesitation and jumped through the small opening. Little did Michael know nothing he was seeing was real.

            Everyone at the mall was still there. There were no spiders or webs. To everyone else, Michael went crazy and started running and screaming and ran outside to the courtyard where workers were doing yard work. In Michael’s vision, he jumped to safety away from the spiders, but in reality, Michael had jumped into a woodchipper and was shredded into millions of pieces as the crowd watched in horror.

The Ravenhall Witch

The Beginning

 

             It was a dark and silent night in Ravenhall. Audrey, Bella, Michael and Tony all sat in a circle around the Ouija board drinking beers at Audrey’s house as Tony lit a joint.

              “Who should we call next?” Michael asked.

              “Oh! I know!” Tony said with excitement. “Let’s call the ghost of our middle school principal!”

              Michael laughed.

              Audrey rolled her eyes.

              “That’s just mean!” Bella said.

              “What? At least somebody will talk to her.” Tony said laughing.

              “The point of the Ouija board isn’t to play silly pranks on dead principles Tony” Audrey said as she puffed the joint.

              “Oh yeah? Well, what is it?” Michael asked curiously.

              “Well, for starters, some people who are grieving use it to talk to relatives who passed on. And then some people who are less cautious prefer to call more heinous spirits.” Audrey said with a creepy smile to tease her friends.

              “Audrey, stop.” Bella said nervously.

              “I’m just teasing you guys!” Audrey laughed.

              “So, Audrey, who would you consider a heinous spirit?” Tony asked “Because I found our middle school principal to be very heinous.”

              “Eliza Belle.” Audrey said.

              Everyone looked at Audrey quietly.

              “You mean the witch?” Tony chuckled.

              “That’s the rumor anyways” Audrey said ominously.

              “So summon the witch, Audrey” Michael dared.

              “Do it, Audrey!” Tony chimed in.

              “You guys are creeping me out. Can we please put the Ouija board away” Bella asked nervously.

              Audrey ignored Bella as she began to call Eliza Belle “Evil witch, Eliza Belle, we summon you. Can you hear us?”

              The Ouija board didn’t move.

              “Looks like she doesn’t want to talk to us.” Michael said with a smirk on his face.

              “This stupid thing probably isn’t working anymore” Audrey said as she stood up and walked to the kitchen in annoyance. She walked toward the fridge to get another beer.

              “Audrey, can you grab me another beer?” Tony shouted from the other room.

              Audrey turned away from the fridge and shouted back “Sure!” While she was still turned away and felt something slither across her hand. She looked and saw a snake. She jumped back and screamed, dropping several bottles of beer on the floor. The commotion sent all three of her friends running in the room.

              “What happened?” Michael asked.

              All of Audrey’s friends stared at Audrey as she looked in disbelief at what had just happened. The snakes were gone as if they were never there in the first place.

            “I think I must have had too much, I’m gonna go lay down” Audrey said as she walked down the hall towards the bedroom.

              While everyone was in the other room, the planchette on the Ouija board began to move. It moved across the board letter to letter as it spelled out the phrase “I’M COMING”.
