Obi-Wan Kenobi Fanfiction Recs
So a year ago today I was bored out of my MIND and saw the “Kenobi” seires title on Disney+ and thought “alright, bet.” And I watched it. I had been out of the Star Wars fandom for probably 6 years and just forgot all the lore, so the Kenobi seires really opened my eyes to how beautiful Star Wars really is. I re-watched all of the movies and proudly bawled my eyes out to all of them. Phantom Menace has a special place in my heart, I must admit.
Just a tribute to all the fic authors that I owe my life to, and to the man who owns my eintire heart, Obi-Wan

every single day, you people baffle me more and more. it’s ridiculous. absolutely ridiculous.
your response to “actually i don’t listen to bts’ music as much anymore” is “you are a f**cking idiot who doesn’t have taste. your favs are trash compared to bts but your head is so far up other groups’ asses that you can’t see what REAL music is”.
your response to “taemin is one of the best if not the best dancers in the industry” is “yea how great hypersexual grinding on a stage while wearing leather - i’ve never been more uncomfortable. jimin is better than that”.
your response to “i love some of their songs but i just don’t care for it all” is “fake fan. don’t bother listening. we don’t need haters like you in the fandom anyways. go run off and listen to your trash sh*t music that sounds like construction noise”.
you do realize that this is hate right? you sit there and look at someone who doesn’t like every single song and consider it hate. why don’t you consider your own words to be hate as well? are you so blinded by devotion that you can’t let other people just enjoy what they want to enjoy?
what baffles me most is the fact that some of you think that hating on other fans and hating on other groups will make bts love you more? are you kidding me? i see people say “i’m doing this for bts. it’s god’s work. they’ll love me for it”. i’m sorry but taemin is your fav’s fav. shinee is your fav’s fav. these other groups are your fav’s f**cking friends. are you really thinking that by hating on their friends, they would like you more? i’m sorry honey but no.
instead of thinking that you are supporting your favs by hating on other groups - try putting all that effort into just supporting your fav like every other fan does. streaming. buying merch. watching videos. creating content. talking about how much you love them. talking about what you love about them. don’t bring other groups into it because literally it is so unnecessary. it is not important. support your favs by supporting them. not by dragging other fans or groups down. this whole experience as an ARMY would be a hell of a lot more enjoyable if people just minded their own business and let people have their own opinions. if someone is hating on bts, then by all means - report them, tell them off, say that they shouldn’t hate on anyone. but don’t respond to hate with hate. don’t respond to a general comment about how they might like another group more with hate. lots of you are so quick to respond to the slightest thing with hate. it’s wrong. unnecessary. and it paints the rest of the fanbase as awful and toxic. just knock it off. it costs nothing to keep your mouth shut and not spread hate. maybe y’all should try it sometime.
A note on Asian privilege
As some of you know, I live in a small, predominantly white suburban town. Last week, I went to the grocery store and stood in line waiting to check out behind this old white couple. I noticed the nice conversation the cashier was having with the couple, and figured that we might have a similar exchange. So I went up to the cashier when it was my turn with a friendly greeting, but the moment she laid eyes on me, her expression completely changed. She immediately dove for her hand sanitizer and smeared it all over before she would even touch my groceries, and didn’t respond to my greeting. And even as she bagged my groceries, she refused to make eye contact, and kept a healthy distance between us, even with the glass divider already in place. And that’s when I realized that she wasn’t just being rude– she was terrified of me. That even though I was born and raised in the US and have not stepped foot in Wuhan China, she was scared that I might carry a deadly virus and get her sick.
I have experienced many condescending and outright racist insults in my life, both subtle (e.g., “But where are you really from?”) and overt (e.g., “Go back to your country” and other racist slurs), but never have I ever experienced anyone reacting to me with fear before. And when I told this story to my family, they were equally as shocked. “Why would she be scared?” “But you’re so small and harmless!” I remember feeling strangely embarrassed by the encounter– like I was the one to blame for the cashier’s fear of me. That I should apologize for the deadly coronavirus just on account of me being Asian.
And that’s when I realized that this is exactly what Black Americans have experienced everyday for hundreds of years.
That feeling of being seen as dangerous. Of others being afraid of you. It is gut-wrenching. And it is mind-blowing that no one in my family has experienced this until 2020 with COVID-19. This fear of Asians will pass, as COVID-19 either passes or becomes integrated into our daily lives. But the association of Blacks as dangerous criminals still continues, and will continue unless we do something about it.
I am so beyond privileged that I can walk into a store without fear of being followed by a cashier or accused of robbery. That I can call police for help without fear of being shot or arrested instead.
Asian Americans are called the “model minority” and some even wear this title as a badge of honor. It is not a compliment and should not be viewed as such. It’s a manipulative way to turn minority groups against each other. “Look at how much Asians have achieved. Why can’t black/Latino people be more like them?” Why? Because Asians already come from a place of immense privilege.
We love to pat ourselves on the back and think of ourselves as hard-working underdogs who overcame the barriers of language and racism to succeed. I won’t deny that there are hardships that immigrants and other Asians face. No one is saying that you didn’t suffer!! But your sufferings are in no way comparable to what Black Americans face on a daily basis. And that’s because most Asians come from highly educated or wealthy backgrounds. Think of all the international students you know– what’s the stereotype about them? That they’re filthy rich, huh? And why’s that? Because it’s true. Asians currently have the highest SES and are the most educated of all ethnic groups in the United States. The only Asians who are allowed to immigrate to the U.S. are usually the richest or most educated. And there aren’t negative stereotypes about dangerousness or criminal behavior around us.
My dad was a poor grad student, and I grew up in relative poverty as a kid. I remember watching him struggle to make ends meet. But even then, we were highly privileged. Both my parents already had their bachelor’s degrees before immigrating. Do you know how rare that is? Both of them had decades of education and support that set them up for success in the United States. Sure, there was the language barrier, but they were offered free ESL classes from the university. And if all else failed, they could easily just go back to their homeland and find work there. And once my dad graduated with his graduate degree, he was instantly able to find high paying jobs that instantly launched us up to the middle class. Yes, I was poor growing up. Yes, my parents struggled. But they were highly educated, coming from privileged families, and could teach me and pass down those skills.
The number one predictor of your future SES and income is your parents’ income.
Let that sink in.
It’s not hard work. It’s not intelligence. It’s what privilege you were born with that determines your success. Now imagine if you had to start all the way back with slavery. Where you were just an object and had no rights or money. The “American Dream” is just a lie rich people tell to keep poor people in their place. “If you work hard, you can achieve success.” And then they try to use Bill Gates or Zuckerberg as examples of this “American Dream.” Bullshit. Sure, Gates & Zuckerberg dropped out of Harvard to pursue their dreams, but they were privileged enough to get into Harvard in the first place. And I can guarantee you that I would have never gotten into my PhD program– wouldn’t have even dreamt of applying, if not for my family of academics.
Asian Americans need to shake off the title of “model minority” and stand with Black Americans. We might be seen as particularly well-behaved dogs, but we’re still dogs in the system. We’ve seen how fast the American public has turned on us during the COVID pandemic. I doubt there’d be even a fraction of this xenophobia and violent hatred if the virus came from Europe. Don’t forget that Japanese Americans were imprisoned in internment camps during WWII. Not even Germans, who started the war, but the foreign-looking ones. And don’t forget that the Chinese weren’t even considered human and weren’t allowed to be U.S. citizens until less than 80 years ago. The system is no friend of ours. No matter how they try to flatter us with all this “model minority” bullshit. We are not special and we will never be seen as equals by Whites.
Standing in solidarity with Black Lives Matter is standing for equality. It means that we will not put up with white supremacy and systemic injustices anymore. The system is broken, and I am sick and tired of seeing other Asian Americans do everything in their power to try to be perfect, unoffending citizens and appease white people in power. We have to fight for justice and equality. Not just because the tides can turn at any time and put us at harm, but simply because it is the right thing to do. And we, as a community, are in a unique position of privilege in order to make change.
Black Lives Matter. And check your goddamn privilege.
Yes to all of this, but also to point out that East Asians are the ones that are incredibly privileged. The model minority myth is incredibly damaging to the Asian community because it ignored Southeast Asians and the fact that they have the lowest high school graduation rate out of all the minorities. It divides Asians, not only against other minorities groups, but within ourselves.
This is exactly why we need BLM. It calls for equality for all and it address the racism that perpetuates the entire system. Let us not forget that the only reason so many Asians have had the opportunity to recently immigrated to the US is because of the black led Civil Rights Movement that, once again, called for equality for all. What have black people done for us? Literally gave us the right to become citizens.
At the end of the day, Asians will always be seen as foreign. Covid sped it up, but anti-Asian sentiments were already growing because of China’s steady increase in global influence. We need to realize that in the eyes of our oppressors, we will always be closer to Blacks than we will ever get to being white. They may give us lip service by calling us a model minority, but it’s in the name. We are still a minority.
This is such an excellent point. Thank you for bringing up Southeast Asians, who mostly did not immigrate here because of their privileged backgrounds, and face immense struggle as a result. This is clear evidence of how the system is broken. And why we should stand for Black Lives Matter. Because if black lives don’t matter to Americans, why the fuck do you think that Asian lives do?
But instead, the anti-blackness across all API subgroups is still so disgusting pervasive. We are complicit in the system, or worse, we actively support white supremacy. And this needs to stop!

My Park Seojoon Dramas Ranking
I did a similar ranking with Lee Minho dramas and well since my new love is Park Seojoon, I had to watch all his leading roles. I’m so in love with this man. He’s just so….HOT…ugh hot damn!
[EDIT: Adding Itaewan Class to the rank! ]
6. She Was Pretty
I did a whole review on this drama…and to recap, I think it was a good story…it was like a complete parallel to WWWSK but not as enticing to me. I didn’t feel like the lead characters had chemistry and it was my least favorite character that Seojoon has played. Regardless it was a good watch overall.
My rating: 6/10
5. A Witch’s Romance
The story overall was really…real i guess. Like the reactions to the dilemmas that the lead female was facing were handled how i think a real person would handle them. So it seemed pretty real. Unfortunately I liked this couple more when they were apart than when they were finally together. They seemed to have better chemistry when they lusted for each other…cus it became to childish playful afterwards which is not that exciting. The second episode they had the raciest scene I’ve seen in kdrams so far and it got me excited….unfortunately that was as much action as i was gonna see :( This drama dealt with a romance with a huge age difference…and that was interesting to me cus I could relate…but at the end of the day, the age difference was too apparent that it baffles me how they actually ended up together. I would watch it again though cus Seojoon was hot af as always.
My rating: 7.8/10
4. Itaewon Class
(The drama recently ended so I added it to my rank and it has landed on number 4!) This was an EXCELLENT DRAMA! Park Seo-joon once again proved how great of an actor he is. The story was simple but powerful and inspiring. In addition, it was also daring and inclusive with their racial and transgender storylines. I highly recommend this drama to anyone! The female lead was also very different to what I’m used to. Yes I’ve seen strong female leads before, but she was not your ordinary strong female, she was a whole ass BOSS and had a huge personality. You either loved her or hated her. I didn’t really connect with her character, but I was impressed by her enough to respect her uniqueness. Once again, I didn’t really feel the chemistry between her and Park Seojoon, so thats what kept this drama in this lower spot. I’m beginning to think that Park Seo joon only had great chemistry with one actress…..so maybe there’s something else going on there? wink wink ;) Regardless, this was a great drama!
My rating: 9/10
3. Hwarang
OMG, I LOVED this drama! I’m not a historical drama enthusiast by any means…but the cast was unbelievable. The friendship among the hwarang boys was too adorable that i screamed during all their cute friendship scenes! The only thing that was a let down was once again the chemistry with the lead couple. It just did not give me the feels. I dont think i liked the actress’ role that much I guess. And it just makes me sad. My main attraction for dramas is the romance and it just didn’t do it for me. Its a good thing though that it excelled in everything else.
My rating: 8.5/10
2. Fight for my Way
Giiirrrllll!!! I just finished watching this drama and again this was soooo real…so relatable! And the chemistry was beautiful!!! I died and went to heaven before each MMA fight he had because he had to take off his shirt. Its a great story with great relationship developments among childhood friends. Definitely gave me the goosebumps that I was craving.
My rating: 9/10
1. Whats Wrong With Secretary Kim
The drama that started my crazy Park Seojoon obsession! I had never seen him anywhere or heard of him…then i watched this drama and I was obsessed with him. My God he was amazing in this…..and his abs…i mean his charm. He’s the boyfriend we all fucking deserve! Their chemistry was on FIRE! This is the chemistry that I’ve been craving and it satisfied my kdrama feels. HUSBAND GOALS!!!!
My rating: 10/10
