He thinks of what he dreamed last night, a cookie in gold, orange and black shooting some sort of magic at him. An arm cracked beyond repair, tinted black by the magic. Roguefort shouting for him.
What a weird dream.
Felt like drawing this guy again. Had an evil idea, had to share it.
The short of it is "Dameta holds part of the left over power from Dark mind's defeat and this little bit is demanding him to go gather the rest (which is in the other mirror counterparts)"
The long (like. LONG) of it is:
So like, for some time now I've had my own headcanons about the mirror world, mostly because I am a Dameta and Shakirby fan. The canon to the amazing mirror is probably very different and probably sillier but I am cringe and free, I can do silly ideas when I want. Now, I think some of the ideas came from canon info but I do not remember where I read the info, so take some of the things I say with a grain of salt??
Anyways, the Amazing Mirror being probably another artifact build by the ancients is a little interesting to me? As well as the star rod, which is something that came to form the idea that these artifacts are both related to dreams, something we already know from the star rod powering up the Fountain of Dreams and sealing Nightmare but not really what the real purpose of the Amazing Mirror was?? As far I know??? Like yeah it's a door to a parallel world but for what purpose?
I like to think that the original purpose of the Amazing Mirror was something akin to showing it's user, the person looking into the mirror, their "dreamed reality", the idea kinda came from what happened with Sectonia when she gazed into the mirror, tho it is speculated that this change on her was doing of Dark Meta Knight, and although I might not fully believe this due to my own belief on the the dark knight's powers, this theory also helped shape the headcanon.
Like, Dark Mind, being a form of dark matter and knowing that these entities have the ability to kind of possess and corrupt things gave me the idea that, at some point not too long before the start of the game events, the Mirror was corrupted, and Dark Mind used the previously made reflections in the mirror to form some sort of... let's say army, the dark matter seem to have a tendency of doing mitosis and spreading, so there's that.
About Dark Meta Knight... I don't remember when exactly, but the idea of Meta Knight gazing into the mirror once before, wishing to see a different reality and Dameta being a product of that was a very interesting one that I wanted to work with. For me, and the headcanons I've made over the years about Meta Knight's rise, Dameta is the dream of going back to something... nicer. I always picture Dameta having these memories of people long gone, these memories that come with a yearning that is not really his, but is there and it haunts him every day, probably fun at first but the feelings it brought just made him feel... pathetic.
Kirby also gazed into the mirror, but it was post Dark Mind corrupting it, and as I see it Dark Mind could have known how strong Kirby is and wanted an asset that strong. The problem is that, with the mirror corrupted and an entity that is some sort of unstoppable force of nature and has an empty mind most of the time the reflection... didn't come out as he expected. Shakirby wasn't very strong when they first emerged and so they were casted aside, probably under the believe that his (Dark Mind's) creations would eventually get the gray puffball. For what Shakirby wasn't strong tho, they were very agile, so they were mostly able to avoid trouble.
So, the events of the game happen right? Dark Mind was defeated and Dameta was shattered. Now, the idea here is something like, the Mirror still held some of the corruption from Dark Mind, some of which concentrating into rebuilding Dark Meta Knight... but with some set backs. Firstly, he is way more fragile, and previously quick healing cracks now take longer to close. Secondly, he can feel the energy, negative one, flowing inside of him and demanding him to recover all the scattered power around the Amazing Mirror (under what belief? that it'll be able to form once more the entity that it once belonged to? It would come out wrong) which is annoying to hear (but it's also both stressful and at times scary, Dameta might have not been all that there when he first emerged, being mostly a puppet moved by strings set on fire, but now that he is... he isn't really free, not until he finishes this task). And thirdly... the energy that he is supposed to gather won't really get absorbed by him unless it takes a physical form.
This is where the other mirror versions come in, and where the plot for Sectonia getting either corrupted or swapped enters. Dark Meta Knight figures out that he needs to generate more counterparts from Shadow Kirby, who is still around and avoiding Dameta at all costs. Shadow Kirby also holds part of the energy left over from Dark Mind, but in difference to Dameta who is more being guided around by it, Shakirby learns to control this energy, their little wish of getting stronger and able to accomplish the things their counterpart has done pushing them forward, someone needs to protect the mirror world and keep the dangers that it has in it, they could be that one. (Even if it is still scary and wishes they could have the friends Kirby has, something has to be done).
So, Dameta takes on the job of making more corrupted versions of different other people from Dreamland while Shakirby tries to keep these dangers in the Mirror World. The problem with both their plans is that... it quickly proves to be way more difficult than that. The other Mirror counterparts are (in Dameta's mind) as annoying as any Dreamlander and as sneaky as he is, besides the fact that they too are looking to "complete" themselves. It sucks.
I figure Star Allies is their turning point. Dameta, and possibly the other mirror counterparts, feels the power of the jamba hearts, their dark energy becoming him and well, you got people being demanded by the voices that they must recollect the energy from other to become stronger, these hearts might do.
Shakirby manages to send back the other counterparts to the Mirror World while Dameta ends up in the little ground that starts to form as Kirby deals with the current catastrophe. I figure Shakirby, seeing this, kinda leaves Dameta to Kirby.
So, Star Allies happens, Dameta gets... redemption? Not really? I don't think all of the Dream Friends that where villains in past games get totally redeemed, some of them probably still do questionable stuff. Looking at Susie. (I say this as a joke don't-- don't come get my ass please.)
So, Dameta is forced to face a few things about himself and others, namely the fact that he kinda respects Meta Knight due to knowing what he went through (in my headcanons) and feeling deeply offended by the fact that some evil force is puppetering his counterpart currently (that other drawing I made once of Meta Knight and Dameta? "Come on. Fight it." one?), he is forced to accept the fact that he wants his own freedom, more than anything (gets told he is taking too many risks and causing too much trouble for it, he tells back that they should all shut their mouths). He is forced to accept, in a more indirect way, that maybe he needs help with his mission, collecting the remaining fragments of power and reclaiming his freedom.
So... he returns to the Mirror World, strikes a deal with Shakirby which involves the kid helping him out in cornering the other counterparts to get rid of them, in exchange of training the kid properly and, if by the end of everything Shakirby is still alive, Dameta would let them take all fragments that he has (if it means his freedom then so be it, he'd rather die finding out if whatever method they come up with to give the fragments to Shakirby works than keep hearing the voices in his head and be controlled by them, something like that).
I'm not sure how I would go the end go, something with the sword from the Amazing Mirror getting used, and some Dreamlanders (namely the ones that usually roam the skies) taking notice of something happening in the clouds. I do get it clear that Shakirby and Dameta are the only two survivors of the counterparts (feels correct plot-wise, and maybe is my bias towards these two but... can you blame me? Sometimes it feels like the other counterparts are only there to be hype, which is not wrong to want and have, and be the "edgy parallel to the good guy", which is also not wrong to want and have but I personally don't see the need to... I know Dameta is this too shut it, is my bias, I know, I'm sorry, or not I don't know, help me, I do have favorites and I hate it).
Tenna angry at Battat for hurting him, Battat explaining it's unrealistic of him to expect to never get hurt, even from people he trusts a lot. A little convo that I don’t know how to lead up to happens.
I want to make this into a comic but I don't know how, if anyone wishes to use this little idea feel free to!
BATTAT: You cannot honestly believe that there’s a zero chance of me accidentally hurting you or upsetting you, it can happen, I am not a perfect dice, damn it I take chances and risks so much because I like it!
TENNA: And you take chances with other darkners’ emotions too?
BATTAT: Ya know that’s not my point Bos– *sighs deeply* … Tenna, no relationship is perfect. When we first started the whole Mike fiasco with Jongler and Pluey we got into arguments a lot, and we hurt each other a lot unintentionally. We are still friends nowadays because we decided staying mad over those things wasn’t worth it, it wasn’t worth it to let our camaraderie get ruined over the arguments we had, so we apologized… sometimes-- and got better at being with each other. One of the only things I would never bet on is them, because I value what we have more than the chances of ruining it over petty things. I bet you have never let anyone apologize to you or apologized before, for whatever they’ve done or happened. And I know you haven’t since… since…
TENNA: …
BATTAT: … *sighs, pinches brow, and whispers* why is this so--
TENNA: I’m… sorry for being so difficu--
BATTAT: It's not that. Stop. *sighs*
…
BATTAT: … Look. I know ya might have a hard time believing me, but I mean it when I say that I didn’t mean that to sound so harsh. If anything I think you just… got hurt by what happened between you and… ya know, him. And that’s why you get like this.
TENNA: You wouldn’t know…
BATTAT: I don’t, not all of it but I definitely have heard Lanino and Elnina AND Ramb talk about enough to get the frame of the picture.
TENNA: *grumbling* Those three–
BATTAT: They were concerned about you, and from what I could put together it makes sense, it sounded like you were happy with him, like you trusted him.
TENNA: … *sighs* that I did… maybe more than I should have…
BATTAT: … Did ya ever find out why he left?
TENNA: *shrinks a little* no I… *his antenna perk up in alert and then lower down again, and he shrinks more* …
BATTAT: … Tenna?
TENNA: … *bowing over a little* I didn’t care. I just… wanted to know who was the voice on the phone, and…
BATTAT: … ?
TENNA: … *shrinks even more* … I made a mistake didn’t I…?
BATTAT: *gets a little closer to Tenna* yes you did, but so he did, I mean, the guy just left and cut contact completely with you after growing so close, and you don’t know why, so who’s to say he isn’t at fault too?
TENNA: …
BATTAT: hey, maybe now that we are here and not in TV World we can find out what really happened.
TENNA: … “we” …? *lifts up head to look at Battat* You’d help me…? … what if the reason ends up being completely my fault? Or something so nonsensical that it just… isn’t worth it?
BATTAT: Then I’ll stick by your side, boss. I’ve already gotten in deep with all the theorycrafting and maybe your break up is the final clue for the puzzle, I’ll take my chances. And also… I think you’re going to need some emotional support, even if the blame ends up falling on you, it’s… something that already happened, I can help you sort it out.
TENNA: … *smiles a little* … because you think our relationship is worth keeping…?
BATTAT: *stares for a few seconds and blushes a little, and looks away frowning*
TENNA: Awwww…. Battat…!
BATTAT: Don’t just focus on that part! Just– remember what I said! You gotta give others chances of getting better, and give yourself a chance to do so too! Otherwise you will end up alone.
TENNA: Yes, I heard that, I will and… *sighs and hugs Battat, who is surprised* I’m sorry for making those assumptions, and thank you for giving me a chance.
BATTAT: *returns the hug* yeah yeah, don’t get sappy on me, boss.
TENNA: oh please… just call me Tenna, I prefer it when you do.
Hello hello! I come here to leave the little humble offering of the result of around three days of work (a little more if you take in count the fic version but aahhh....)
This has become an AU btw, not sure if I'll do the other parts since I still got to take care of my thesis and what not. But the other written parts are... in progress.

Lear has never felt this way before, it was so different from that feeling he got every time he defeated opponents before, every time he looked down on them and grinned, and laughed a practiced laugh and words meant to remind others who was on top.
(Words meant to remind himself who is always supposed to be on top).
