I stand in silence as I watch a girl run across the park, followed by the colors that once brightened my world. My life has returned to a black and white state. It all happened so quickly that I was left stunned for who knows how long.
It all started back when I asked Vivian to hang out with me yesterday...

Within the halls of Skylia High school, Kyle takes a deep breath and, with confidence, he asks the important question to Vivian.
Kyle: Would you like to go out on a date with me this weekend?
Those very words struck the redhead like Cupidâs arrow as she is left stunned.
Vivian:Â Wha... WHAT?!
Vivian shakes her head and composes herself.
Vivian:Â Date?! As in like a... a...
Kyle, realizing the situation, explains himself.
Kyle:Â Oh! No, I didnât mean it romantically. I mean...
The boy glances away and rubs the back of his head.
Kyle:Â ...I was thinking... more of a Friendsâ Day Out... Just the two of us.Or we could ask some other friends to come.
Vivian breathes a sigh of relief and giggles.
Vivian:Â You couldâve just said that earlier.Â
Kyle chuckles shyly.
Kyle:Â Heh... well, Karen and Sam were planning on asking you to hang out with me instead.
Vivian: Either way, the answer is still âYesâ.
The brunet boy looks at the redhead with wide eyes.
Kyle:Â Really?
Vivian nods with a smile.
Vivian:Â Mhm. And also, letâs invite Karen, Sam and the others as well.
Kyle grins in excitement.
Kyle:Â Great! Tomorrow then, at 10 am, in Aryndelle Park.
Vivian:Â Sure thing.
Everything was set. Vivian said, âYesâ, and I was bursting with joy inside. Iâve never been this happy in such a long time.
The two friends wave goodbye at each other before going to their respective clubs. It is clear in their faces; theyâre very excited for the next day.

Saturday comes and after breakfast and a shower, Kyle quickly goes through his closet to pick the clothes he is going to wear. Karen hangs around near his bedroom door, not looking at her brother to give him some privacy, and chuckles.
Karen:Â Man, someoneâs pretty joyful today.
Kyle smiles.
Kyle:Â What can I say, Sis? I kinda like Vivian.
Karen sighs in happiness.
Karen:Â Iâm glad.
Soon after, Kyle is all set. He is wearing a red flannel, with an obsidian t-shirt underneath that has a Brachydios design on it. Heâs also wearing jeans, black & red shoes, and a key necklace from one of his favorite animes, Attack on Titan. He looks at the mirror as he fixes his hair.
This outfit has always been my favorite and signature. My flannel and t-shirt were given to me by my mom and dad, respectively. Theyâre gifts for me during my and Karenâs birthday. She got an Espeon jacket and an Absol t-shirt. Lucas, on the other hand, gave each of us a necklace; Erenâs key necklace from Attack on Titan for me and a Ladybug necklace from Tales of Ladybug & Cat Noir for Karen. These gifts hold a special place in our hearts. Theyâre my favorite because I can feel my familyâs warm and loving presence around me, even when Iâm alone.
Kyle:Â How do I look?
Karen looks over at him and grins.
Karen:Â Perfect for her.
The boy makes eye contact with his sister through the mirror and grins back.
Kyle:Â Thanks.
The twins face each other.
Karen:Â All set?
Kyle:Â Yes!
Karen:Â Then letâs go.
Lucas picks the twins up and takes them to the park. As the two step out of the car, they are greeted by their friends in a gazebo.
Sam:Â Karen! Kyle! Over here!
Mark:Â Hey, you two!
Danny:Â We got some games here!
Elizabeth:Â And some food!
Ariya:Â Come on!
The twins grin at each other before turning to Lucas.
Kyle:Â See you in three hours, Lucas.
Karen:Â Later, Big Bro.
Lucas:Â You two, have fun now.
As Kyle and Karen close the car doors and rush to their friends, Lucas looks at them proudly.
Lucas:Â Are you seeing this, Mom and Dad? I hope you are.
Lucas smiles before driving off. The twins meet with their friends, who are sitting on two benches with a picnic table set up. Sam, Mark and Danny are seated on one bench while Elizabeth and Ariya are seated on the other.
Kyle:Â What are you guys playing?
Sam:Â Your favorite, buddy.
Kyle:Â Monster Hunter, of course.
Kyle pulls out his Nintendo Switch from his bag and boots it on. He sits with Ariya and joins the four-player squad formed by her, Sam and Mark.
Mark:Â Whatâs our quest?
Ariya:Â Bloodbath Diablos.
Kyle:Â You have enough permits?
Sam:Â I do.
These three great people are just the best teammates you can ask for. Our synced minds and teamwork is so great that we barely speak strategies at all in the middle of an intense battle. When one of us struggles, the rest just know what to do. The Bloodbath Diablos may be one of the most difficult Monsters in the game weâre playing, but we can handle it. It took some time but this is finally the first time that we beat it without one of us losing a life in the game.
In the game, the Bloodbath Diablos finally succumbs to its wounds and the words âQuest Clearâ is shown on the screens of each of the gamersâ Switches. At the sight of those words, they cheer.
Kyle:Â Yes!
Ariya:Â Finally!
Mark:Â WOOHOO!!Â
Sam:Â THERE IS A GOD!!
Kyle chuckles at Samâs comment.
Kyle:Â Is that your catchphrase?
Sam:Â Shut up. Iâm celebrating.
As the gamers share laughs and high-fives, Karen and Elizabeth are by the picnic table getting everything ready.
Karen:Â Make sure to prepare eight plates.
Elizabeth:Â How come? Thereâs only seven of us.
Karen:Â Oh, Vivian will be joining us.
Elizabeth heart sinks as she realizes that Kyle and Vivian might spend more time together. Her kind nature prevents her from causing any conflicts just to be with the boy she likes, so she just goes with it and nods at Karen.
After another quest, the gamers join the two girls. Just then, a voice calls out to them.
Voice:Â HEY, GUYS!!
They all turn to the source and spot Vivian running up to them. She was wearing  a white T shirt with a star design on it, blue jeans, a star pendant and black sandals. Kyle smiles at the sight of her and runs towards her. While the others smile at Kyleâs happiness, Elizabeth does not. Kyle and Vivian meet at the entrance of the gazebo.
Kyle:Â Youâre here.
Vivian:Â Yeah. Sorry Iâm late.
Vivian laughs and rubs the back of her head shyly. Kyle laughs with her.
Kyle:Â Itâs alright. What matters is that youâre here.
Thatâs right. Time doesnât matter. As long as sheâs here, nothing matters but her.
The redhead blushes and joins the rest of the group with the brunet boy.
Karen:Â Hey, Vi!
Sam:Â Sup!
The rest of the group introduce themselves to Vivian, but as the redhead reaches Elizabeth, the latter just says âHiâ without even making eye contact or sharing a handshake. The black-haired girl continues preparing everyoneâs picnic meal. Vivian is left stun but her attention is quickly grabbed by Kyle.
Kyle:Â Hey, Vivian. Check this out.
The girl approaches the boy as he happily shares what he is playing to her.
Vivian:Â Oh, Monster Hunter! Iâve seen this before.
Kyle:Â Really?
Vivian:Â Yeah, back when...
Recommended Music:Â Motherâs Dream (YLiA)
A painful memory suddenly flashes in Vivianâs mind as she immediately stops talking. Kyle tilts his head.
Kyle:Â Back when... what?
Vivian shakes her head and immediately goes to Karen and Elizabeth at the picnic table.
Vivian:Â Iâm sorry...
Kyle:Â Vivian...
Karen waves at the group.
Karen:Â Hey, foodâs ready!
The gamers, except for Kyle, excitedly rush to the table. The brunet boy just walks towards the table and quickly sits next to Vivian. The redhead is almost in the verge of tears as she tries to hide it from everyone, but Kyle takes notice.
Something must have happened to her before. She couldnât have this kind of sudden breakdown. Someone from her past mustâve done something, related to the very game I play, that broke her.
Kyle places a hand on Vivianâs shoulder and whispers.
Kyle:Â Iâm sorry. If you donât want to talk about it, itâs alright. Whatever youâre going through, donât let it break you. You release the pain, not hide it.
The redhead nods at the boy while wiping her would-be tears. Kyle gently wraps his arms around her as she leans her head on his shoulder. Nobody else seems to notice what the two are doing as they are too busy grabbing their meals.Â

As Vivian regains her smile, she thanks Kyle and the two eat with the rest of the group. Lots of laughs were shared. Everyone had a great time.Â
Even Elizabeth tried her best to enjoy her time. She turns to Vivian beside her.
Elizabeth:Â Hey, Vi.
Vivian:Â Yes?
Elizabeth:Â I just wanna apologize for my behavior earlier. That was so unlike me.
Vivian smiles and pats Elizabeth on her shoulder.
Vivian:Â Itâs alright. I donât mean to offend you if thereâs something I did.
Elizabeth:Â Oh no, you didnât. There are some things that are just out of our control.
The redhead nods and the two shake each otherâs hands with smiles.
Elizabeth:Â Nice to meet you, Vi.
Vivian:Â Nice to meet you, Elizabeth.
Elizabeth:Â Call me, Eli.
Vivian:Â Okay, Eli.
The two girls grin at each other before continuing their meal. Elizabeth finally manages to feel a lot better after having a nice chat with Vivian.
After the picnic, Ariya opens her bag and grabs a volleyball inside it.
Ariya:Â Hey, how about a match?
The sports boys quickly smile.
Mark:Â Yes!
Sam:Â Iâm in!
Danny:Â Same!
Ariya then smirks.
Ariya:Â Letâs make this interesting; Boys VS Girls. Loser has to clean up the table and everything on it.
Kyle:Â Uhh.... I donât think thatâs a good idea. Weâre all involved in this picnic. I think it would be the responsible thing to clean up our own me--
Everyone else:Â DEAL!
Kyle just sighs and facepalms.
Nitwits. Iâm friends with a bunch of nitwits. But I admit, that I do love them all so much.
The group then heads to a nearby volleyball field and the teams go to their respective sides. Sam flips a coin to see who goes first. The coin lands on his palm.
Sam:Â Heads! Girls go first.
Ariya:Â Oof! Prepare to get rekt by my serve!
Recommended Music:Â Above (Haikyuu!!)
Ariya stands outside the border of the girlâs field and bounces the ball, preparing herself.
Mark:Â Bring it!
Danny: I donât think itâs a good idea asking the volleyball expert here to âBring itâ...
Sam:Â .....Well shi--
Karen:Â LANGUAGE!
Ariya smirks as she tosses the ball upwards and starts sprinting. The ball begins to drop and the sports girl leaps before delivering a strong serve towards the boyâs field. The ball zooms towards Kyle, who barely reacts as he tries to receive it. But the ball just bounces off of his arms and out of the border.
Ariya:Â BOOM! SERVICE ACE!!
Elizabeth:Â Point for the Girls!
Vivian:Â Get Yeeted on!
Kyle huffs and yells at Ariya.
Kyle:Â Thatâs not fair! Iâm the weakest link of the team just cuz I donât do sports like you!
Ariya sticks her tongue out to the boys and the rest of them huff along with Kyle. Sam turns to his teammates with a grin on his face.
Sam:Â I got an idea.
The boys huddle up while Ariya retrieves the ball. She prepares for another serve and the boys just finished their planning.
Ariya:Â Get ready!
Kyle:Â Bring it!
Ariya chuckles before delivering another serve towards Kyle. This time, the brunet boy straightens his arms and receives the ball. However, the ballâs rebound trajectory is going towards the back of the court rather than towards the net. The girls celebrate.
Karen:Â Haha! Another point for us!
Kyle grins as the girls notice someone behind him. Their eyes widen.
Elizabeth:Â Wait, is that...?
Vivian:Â Whatâs Mark doing?!
Mark dashes behind Kyle and tries to catch up with the loose ball before it hits the ground. Meanwhile, Sam is running towards the net, preparing to leap for a spike.
Ariya:Â Crap! Itâs their Back & Forth strategy!
Elizabeth:Â Their what?!
Karen:Â Itâs one of Sam and Markâs strategies. When Mark successfully blocks a ball from entering their goal, Sam quickly runs to the enemy goal. Then Mark, in return, quickly brings the ball to Sam by either a fast throw or a fast pass between their teammates. Itâs a way for them to quickly counter attacks from their opponents!
Vivian:Â And theyâre doing it here too?!
Sam:Â Thatâs right!
The girls turn to Sam who is already in the air, doing a spike form. Ariya and Karen runs to the net and jump up, in front of Sam, with an attempt to block his attack. But the blond boy smirks and looks to the side. All of the girls then look to where his sights are and see Danny, also in the air, preparing to spike.
Elizabeth:Â Itâs a trap!
Danny grins as Mark does a quick long toss. The ball travels from the back of the court to the net, in front of Danny, in a matter of a few seconds. Danny swings his arm and spikes the ball as it lands... OUTSIDE the court accidentally. A point for the.... girls...?!
Everyone:Â .....
Ah, yes. Of course, this happens. Such an epic build up.... only to fall apart instantly. Like I said, lovable nitwits.
Sam:Â DANNY!!
Danny:Â Sorry! My hands were probably a bit greasy because of the picnic food!
Karen celebrates.
Karen:Â HAHA! SABOTAGE!! I knew the fried chicken has its uses!
Sam drops to his knees and shouts to the sky.
Sam:Â NOO!! GOD HAS FORSAKEN US!!!
Elizabeth:Â What is it with you and your fascination with God?!
Kyle, Karen and Vivian smile shyly.
Vivian:Â Must be a hardcore Christian?
Kyle:Â Heâs not.
The friends share a few laughs before starting the next rally. Ariya takes the ball again and prepares to serve.
Ariya:Â Time for a third ace, girls!
Girls:Â Yeah!
Sam:Â Letâs try again and make it in this time!
Boys:Â Roger!
Ariya tosses the ball upwards and serves towards Kyle again. But this time, Kyle receives it more properly, as it arcs to the side instead of the back. Mark follows the ball while Sam and Danny rush to the net at both sides, getting ready to spike. However, the girls splits into pairs, with each pair getting ready to block the each boy.Â
Karen:Â Youâre not getting a point, Sam!
Sam grins.
Sam:Â Thatâs what you think!
Ariya turns to Elizabeth and Vivian, who are readying to block Danny.
Ariya:Â Itâs going for Danny!
Elizabeth:Â Got it!
Vivian:Â Okay!
As Danny jumps, so does the girls but in the next few seconds, they donât see the ball on him. Ariya notices this and freaks out.
Ariya:Â But then... where...?!
She widens her eyes as she spots Kyle running at the middle of the court and towards the net. Ariya quickly lands on the ground and tries to block Kyle. But this fails as Mark quickly tosses the ball to the top of the net where Kyle just taps it into the girlâs side. The ball hits the ground and itâs a point for the boys.
Boys:Â YEAH!!
The boys share high-fives and fist-bumps while they celebrate. The girls stare at them, dumbfounded, but immediately smile in amazement.
Ariya:Â Okay, I gotta admit; that was baiting in a WHOLE other level.
Karen:Â Nice job, little Bro!
Kyle:Â Thanks!
The game continued for a few minutes until itâs neck-and-neck with 23-24 in the girlsâ favor. One more point and the boys will have to clean the picnic table.
Ariya:Â Come on, girls. One more point and we win!
Girls:Â Yeah!
Sam:Â Bring it back to them at all costs!
Boys:Â Roger!
Ariya tosses the ball but instead of doing a hard serve, she goes for a jump float serve. The boys are shocked by this as they witness the ball hovering in the air, making its way to their court slowly. Sam turns to Kyle.
Sam:Â Kyle, make the toss! Weâll spike it down.
Kyle:Â Got it!
Kyle observes the ballâs trajectory and intercepts its landing point. He raises his hands and quickly tosses the ball to the other boys who are already running up to jump. The girls scatter to try and block them.Â
Ariya:Â Elizabeth, stay in the back, just in case they try something tricky.
Elizabeth:Â Roger!
As the girls leap at the same time as the boys, Kyle tosses the ball to Sam. Ariya is in front of the latter.
Ariya:Â I got you!
Sam:Â No, you donât!
Sam goes for a hard swing, but at the last second, he taps the ball gently upwards.
Karen:Â Itâs a feint!
The ball does a small arc above Ariya and quickly falls directly behind her. Elizabeth runs and dives to receive the ball but she is too late. The ball hits the ground as the girl skids on it. Itâs a point for the boys and they celebrate.
Boys:Â YEAH!!
Ariya:Â Wait!
Recommended Music:Â Breakdown (Haikyuu!!)
The boys look and are stunned when they see Ariya, Karen and Vivian gathered around Elizabeth as she is clutching her knee. She apparently skinned it while trying to recover the ball. The boys quickly rush to help the girls.
Sam:Â Danny, thereâs a first-aid kit in my bag!
Danny:Â Okay!
Danny rushes back to the gazebo and grabs the first-aid kit. He then crouches down in front of Elizabeth.
Danny:Â Alright, Eli. This is gonna sti--
Kyle:Â Danny, let me.
The first year looks at the brunet third year and nods. Kyle takes the kit and tends to Elizabethâs wound.
Kyle:Â Donât worry, Eli. I got you.
Elizabeth winces for a bit but since Kyle is tending to her, he feelings for him mitigate the pain. Soon after, Kyle gently places a bandage on the wound.
Kyle:Â There. Better?
Elizabeth weakly smiles and nods. Kyle smiles back at her while everyone else breathes out a sigh of relief.
Karen:Â That really shocked us.
Vivian:Â Glad youâre okay, Eli.
Mark:Â So.... is the game finished then?
Ariya:Â Yeah, I guess so. Kyleâs right. We have to handle our own responsibilities.
Kyle:Â Oh, so now you listen to me?!
Kyle glares at his friends and they all just chuckle at his annoyance.
Gosh, I love these nitwits.Â
Ariya crouches near Elizabeth.
Ariya:Â Come on, Iâll carry you.
Elizabeth nods and is lifted on the sports girlâs back.
Elizabeth:Â Thanks, Ari.
Ariya:Â Not a prob, honey.
Elizabeth smiles and relaxes her head on Ariyaâs shoulder. Soon after, everyone gathers back in the gazebo. Karen and Sam clean up the picnic table while Mark and Sam pack up the table itself. Ariya and Elizabeth have a fun conversation together. Lastly, Kyle and Vivian are in a flower garden next to the gazebo.
Kyle:Â So, what do you think of today?
Vivian:Â Despite Eliâs accident, it was great.
Vivian looks straight into Kyleâs brown eyes and smiles.
Vivian:Â Thanks, Kyle. I really needed this. Iâve never had this much fun in my life.
Kyle:Â Youâre welcome, Vi.
The redhead giggles at the nickname the brunet boy gave to her. Kyle looks at her for a moment and is in deep thought.
I have to do it. Iâm sure of it now. Iâm going to confess to her.
Kyle:Â Vivian, listen...
Vivian:Â Yes, Kyle?
Kyle takes a deep breath before plucking a rose and presenting it to Vivian.
Kyle:Â I like you.
The redhead is taken back by those words. Another memory flashes into her mind; one that will always haunt her for the rest of her life. She quickly shakes her head.
Vivian:Â Kyle... I...
Kyle lowers his arm and concerns himself over Vivianâs sad expression.
Kyle:Â Iâm sorry... was I rushing...?
Vivian:Â No, itâs not that... itâs just... Iâm not ready for another relationship right now... not again...
Kyle:Â âAgainâ...?
Vivian turns away from Kyle.
Vivian:Â Iâm sorry, Kyle... but this is not just for my sake.... itâs for yours as well....
The redhead quickly runs away from the brunet boy without even uttering goodbye to him. Kyle is left stunned as he witnesses Vivian and maybe his happiness running away from him.
And just like that. My heart and mind are in pieces. She is gone, and so are the wonderful colors that she brought with her to my life. I take a glance at the rose in my hand. Even though it still as beautiful as Vivian, in my eyes...

I donât use the bus on my way to school or back home, but tonight was different. I had to take it because... Vivian needed a helping hand.
Kyle is seated at the back row of the bus and Vivian is seated next to him, with her head laid on his shoulder. Sheâs fast asleep and her breathing is soft and calm. Kyle smiles at her then looks out the bus window, recounting what happened earlier.
Usually when I see people being sad or crying about something, I do my best to comfort them and help them, at least, smile a little. I donât want them to end up like me, who has gone far down in despair. But Vivian... she was different. I have to make sure that she always smiles.
Fifteen minutes earlier, Kyle spotted Vivian quietly singing inside the auditorium, with her voice cracking from sadness. Kyle rushed towards the redhead and tried to comfort her.
Kyle:Â Vivian...?
Vivian turned to Kyle in surprise, with tears.
Vivian:Â Kyle...Â
She wiped her tears.
Vivian:Â I thought you went home...
Kyle:Â I had to go to the boysâ restroom first.
Kyle placed a hand on Vivianâs shoulder.
Kyle:Â Is everything alright...?
Vivian nodded and faked a smile.
Vivian:Â Yeah...
I know a fake smile when I see one. If Karen and Sam can figure it out, I can do it better.
Kyle tucked a strand of Vivianâs smooth hair behind her ear.
Kyle:Â No, youâre not, Vivian. I can clearly tell...
Vivian looked at Kyle for a moment before gently tackling him into a tight embrace. Kyle slowly wrapped his arms around the redhead and strokes her smooth hair as she broke down again.Â
Vivian:Â Itâs just...Â
Kyle:Â Sshh... You donât have to tell me if you donât want to yet. When youâre ready, Iâll be there for you.
Vivian nodded and slowly relaxed in Kyleâs arms. After a few seconds, they pulled away and looked into each otherâs eyes.
Vivian:Â Thank you...
Kyle smiled and nodded. He offered his hand.
Kyle:Â Come on. Letâs get you home.
Vivian smiled sweetly as she took the boyâs hand.
Her touch is just as soft and warm as her embrace. And there it goes again, my fast heartbeat. I did not pay attention to it. I had to bring Vivian home safely. After we held hands, I pulled out my phone and texted Karen that Iâm going home late.
After putting his phone away, Kyle looked back at Vivian with a smile before they took off. The boy unlocked his bike from the bike rack and joined the redhead on her way to the bus stop.
Vivian:Â You donât have to come with me. Iâm fine on my own.
Kyle:Â I know, but I feel like you needed company.
Vivian giggles.
Vivian:Â Well, you do give a more positive vibe, Mr. Collins.
Kyle:Â Pfft, yeah, right...
The two shared a laugh before getting into the bus, bringing them into present time, as Vivian slowly laid her head on Kyleâs shoulder before falling asleep.
A few minutes pass and Vivian wakes up just in time to spot her house from a distance.
Vivian:Â Oh, weâre here.
She gets up hurries to the front of the bus. Kyle follows while carrying his foldable bike. They step off the bus and stop at the front yard of Vivianâs house. The redhead girl turns to the brunet boy.
Vivian:Â Thanks, Kyle, for everything youâve done tonight.
Kyle:Â I should be thanking you as well. Iâve never smiled genuinely for the past months. Clearly, youâre something special, Vivian.
Vivian blushes and looks away.
Vivian:Â Y-You really think so...?
Kyle:Â Yeah. Iâm glad to have met you.
Vivian looks at Kyle again as they smile at each other. The redhead walks to her house while waving goodbye towards the boy. Kyle waves back before making his way back home with his bike.
Itâs true. She truly was something else, like no other. I want to spend more time with her. I really hope that she was cast as Quinn while Iâm cast as Casey. Though Iâm not sure as well. Do I... like her...? Well, Iâm about to find out soon enough.

Kyle arrives home and sees Karen and Lucas in the dining room, eating dinner.
Kyle:Â Iâm home.
Lucas:Â Welcome back.
Karen smirks.
Karen:Â Sooo? How was--
Kyle:Â Quiet.
Kyle looks unamused towards his sister and takes a seat by the dining table. Karen laughs as she and Lucas continue eating dinner. Kyle joins them and the three shared their stories for the whole day.
Lucas:Â Glad youâre making progress, Kyle. Iâm proud of you and grateful towards Vivian.
Kyle:Â Thanks.
Karen:Â Eeek! Iâm so excited how this will turn out!
Kyle chuckles at Karenâs excitement but he quickly turns sad.
Kyle:Â But...
He then tells them about what happened after the audition.
Karen:Â Oh no...
Lucas:Â Looks like youâre not the only one going through something, huh?
Kyle:Â Guess so...
Karen stands up to hug her twin brother while Lucas places a hand on his shoulder.
Lucas:Â Kyle, donât forget; there are times where two people are like pieces of a puzzle. They complete each other.
Kyle nods and smiles. The three spend the rest of the night having a great time before going to bed.
Meanwhile, Sam goes home to his house. As he enters, he spots his father on the phone. His father then returns the look.
Samâs Father:Â Weâll continue this later, Peter. Goodbye.
Samâs father drops the call and turns to his son. He greets him with a serious, yet calm tone.
Samâs Father:Â Welcome back.
Sam:Â Hey, dad.
Sam heads to the dining room.
Samâs Father:Â Why did you come home late on the first day of class?
The blond boy rolls his eyes.
Sam:Â We had casting auditions for the cityâs Film Festival.
Samâs Father:Â What about your football team?
Sam:Â We had some new members. Thereâs this particular freshman that caught my attention. He could be a useful goalkeeper to us.
Samâs father is heard going upstairs.
Samâs Father:Â Well as long as this Film Festival and your girlfriend does not disrupt you of your potential, you must win this seasonâs tournament.
The man then closes the door to his bedroom and Sam grits his teeth in annoyance. The blond boy ends up having a text conversation with Karen to calm himself and feel a bit better. The couple started to plan a sort-of date for Kyle and Vivian on the weekends. This is how the conversation went...
Karen:Â Btw, I need your help with something. :)
Sam:Â Whatâs up?Â
Karen:Â I think we should try to hook Kyle and Vivian up. <3
Sam:Â Oooh, interesting. Iâm all in! :D
Karen:Â This weekend. Iâll invite Vivian in secret but do NOT tell Kyle about it.
Sam:Â You can trust me, Dear. <3
Karen:Â Really? Youâre not very good at keeping secrets. -_-
Sam:Â What do you mean?! o_O
Karen: Kyleâs âsurpriseâ birthday party two years ago? xD
Sam:Â ...Good point.
Karen:Â This is serious, Sam. We need to do this for Kyle.
Sam:Â I promise, Karen. Donât worry.
Karen:Â Good. I should be off to bed. Weâll talk more about this tomorrow during lunch break.
Sam:Â Sure thing. Good night, Karen. I love you. <3
Karen:Â Good night, Sam. I love you too. XoXo <3

The next day of school, Karen and Sam lock their bikes on the bike rack and go inside building while Kyle is still locking his bike. The brunet boy finishes but then spots Elizabeth enter the school gate with a sad look on her face. She still hasnât accepted the fact that Kyle, her crush, might be cast as Casey and Vivian as Quinn. Kyle runs up to Elizabeth.
Kyle:Â Eli?
The black-haired girl looks up in surprise to see a concerned Kyle in front of her.
Elizabeth:Â Oh, hey, Kyle...
Kyle:Â Anything wrong?
Elizabeth tries to wipe any possible tears that might fall from her eyes.
Elizabeth:Â Itâs just... Iâm scared that I might not get the part in the film...
Kyle places a reassuring hand on the girlâs shoulder.
Kyle:Â Youâll get it for sure. Donât worry.
Elizabeth shakes her head and avoids eye contact.
Elizabeth:Â Thatâs not it, Kyle. I might not get the part that I wanted... I might be cast as someone else in the film...
Kyle becomes somber but continues to encourage her.
Kyle:Â Eli, whatever happens, whatever role you might play as, you have to do your best. There are times that even supporting characters shine than the main character. For example, look at Alan Rickman as Severus Snape in the HP films.
Elizabeth:Â What do you mean?
Kyle:Â What I mean is that; even though you may not play as the role you wanted, if you stand out and act with all of your heart, like what the others did yesterday, then you may catch the attention of some people or maybe someone who you want to notice you.
Elizabeth considers Kyleâs words for a moment. Being the shy girl that she is, sheâs been having difficulty standing out, especially when Kyle is involved with something she is taking part of. And so, on that day forward, she nods and has decided to break out of her shell and be a better person than she once was. Her first step is a quick, simple but a meaningful one. She takes up the courage to pull Kyle into a tight embrace, something that she was too scared to do. But now that she was given the opportunity and the pep talk required to do so, she did it. Kyle was taken by surprise but soon hugs back his friend.
Kyle:Â Feeling better now?
Elizabeth:Â Yes. Thank you, Kyle.
Kyle:Â Youâre welcome, Eli.
The two pull back and smile at each other. Elizabeth runs ahead and waves at Kyle, thanking him once again.
Elizabeth was easier to talk to since her problems arenât too personal, unlike Vivianâs. That redhead girl always had me curious about her. Though, Elizabeth is just as important to me as any other friend. She may be shy, I can tell that, but she is a good person.
As Kyle enters the school, he spots Karen and Sam having a suspicious conversation. Sam takes a quick glance on Kyle and quickly ends their chat. He gives a quick peck to Karen before going to the gym. Karen turns to see Kyle and just wave at him shyly before rushing to the Story & Film club. Kyle squints his eyes then pulls out his phone. He texts his mentor, Mr. Ross, that he will be late for Arts Club before rushing to the gym. On his way, he texts Max about interrogating Sam for a secret heâs hiding. Mark texts back that heâll prepare their secret weapon.
Those two are definitely hiding something that will involve me. Whatever it is, itâs something that theyâre keeping close to the chest, especially Sam, since heâs not really good at keeping secrets. But getting them out of him isnât hard. Mark and I have done it before lots of times. And we got just the thing for absolute results.
Kyle arrives at the gym and waves at Mark. Sam spots the brunet boy and tries to make a run for it.
Mark:Â Danny, get him!
Danny, confused, does what Mark exclaimed without question as he vigorously wraps his arms around Sam, keeping him in place.
Sam:Â Damn it, Danny! Let me go! Thatâs an order from your captain!
Kyle:Â Donât let him go, Danny. Heâs hiding something.
The three boys take the blond boy into the boysâ locker room and have him sit on a bench, with his hands eventually tied up by Mark.
Sam:Â Iâm not gonna tell you anything, Kyle. I promised Karen.
Kyle:Â I know. Which is why Iâm not going to ask anything.
Danny sets an open laptop, with a Youtube Video ready, in front of Sam.
Kyle:Â Iâll let this video do the talking.
Sam scoffs.
Sam:Â Whatever youâre trying to do, Collins, it wonât work. I am as tough as an Aggron!
Kyle:Â Suuuure.
Kyle, along with Mark and Danny, puts on noise-canelling and plays the video.
(Warning:Â Video can be harmful to most people. Watch at your own risk.)
The second the video starts, Samâs confident look quickly falters and he starts screaming.
Sam:Â NO!! ANYTHING BUT THAT!! MAKE IT STOP!!!
Kyle:Â What?!
Sam tries to run away but Mark keeps him seated.
Sam:Â ALRIGHT! ALRIGHT!! IâLL TALK!!!
Kyle reads Samâs lips and grins as he closes the laptop. He, Mark and Danny take off their headphones.
Kyle:Â Alright, talk.
Sam:Â ....Karen and I are planning on having you and Vivian go on a...
Kyle:Â A what?
Sam:Â ....Some sort of a date....
I fucking knew it! I knew they would do something like this behind my back!

Kyle remains silent before storming out of the locker room and makes his way towards the Story & Film club. He knocks on the door and Karen walks over to it. She thought it was Elizabeth when she opened it.
Karen:Â Hey, Eli--
Karenâs eyes widen at the sight of Kyle and screams.
Karen:Â --EEEEEKK!!!
Kyle:Â Whatâs your plan, Sis?
Karen fidgets while she slowly backs away from Kyle.
Karen:Â Wha... what are you talking about...?
Kyle:Â Sam told me, Karen.
Karen:Â ....You know, as much as I love him, I hate him too...
Kyle:Â I know, full well.
Karen shakes her head and composes herself. She looks at Kyle in a serious manner.
Karen:Â Sam and I just want you to be happy.
Kyle:Â What do you mean?
Karen:Â I can clearly tell, Kyle, from what happened yesterday. Youâre starting to like Vivian. She could be THE ONE.
Kyle remains speechless from his sisterâs words. He sighs.
Kyle:Â You really think so?
Karen:Â I know so.
Kyle takes a seat by the table and thinks about what heâs about to go through.
I didnât want to rush things yet with Vivian. I was afraid that if I did, she might eventually push me away. But instead, Karen and Sam rushed things for me. If what they say is true, that Vivian is my âspecial someoneâ... then Iâm willing to take this dive to the unknown sea. This time, no more second thoughts.
Kyle turns to Karen.
Kyle:Â Did you ask her already?
Karen:Â Not yet...
Karen smiles.
Karen:Â ...But why donât you do it yourself?
Kyleâs eyes slightly widen.
Kyle:Â I...
Karen:Â If you really like her...
No more second thoughts...
Kyle smiles back and nods. He stands up and rushes out of the club room, trying to look for Vivian.
Meanwhile, on her way to sign up for the Music Club, Vivian is walking in the halls. Suddenly, Kyle steps in front of her and and stops, placing his hands on his knees and panting.
Kyle:Â Vi...vian...
The redhead girl is startled and looks at Kyle with concern.
Vivian:Â Kyle? Are you alright?
Kyle takes a moment to breathe and composes himself. He points at Vivian in the same way she did when they first met and smiles.
Kyle:Â Vivian Richards...
Vivian:Â Y-Yes...?
Kyle takes a deep breath and, with confidence, he asks the important question.
Kyle:Â Would you like to go out on a date with me this weekend?
Those very words struck Vivian like Cupidâs arrow as she is left stunned.
I know now what must be done, to see if what I, and my family and friends, think is true; to know if Vivian is the one...

Authorâs Note: If the âKeep readingâ doesnât work, go here for the full post. Since my brotherâs drawing monitor is being borrowed by his friend, there wonât be any chapter artworks until some time around March. Italicized narration is told by one of the protagonists, Kyle Collins. And lastly, to pay respects to non-American sports fans, Iâm going to call it âfootballâ, not âsoccerâ.
On the Spring of 2018, something colorful came into my monotone life...
Vivian: Iâm Vivian. And I am in love with your artworks!
How did it come to this...?
Lunch period, March 5, 2018; Kyle is seated by a cafeteria table. Sitting opposite him is Vivian, the redhead girl who suddenly came up to him and confessed her affection towards his artworks. The redhead girl joyfully wolfs down her lunch meal while the boy still hasnât partaken on his meal. He is still left dumbfounded by his encounter with Vivian.
Our encounter occurred just a few meters from the art club room. Mr. Ross steps outside the room and spots me and the girl. He invited her in and she was introduced herself to us. Her name was Vivian Richards and sheâs a transfer student, currently pursuing arts, specifically musical arts. I can tell right away why she was so enthralled by visual arts as well. Everyone likes my work but Iâve never met someone as joyful as her and instantly claiming that she loves my work. I was still frozen from the encounter as Mr. Ross and Vivian chatted about my artworks until the lunch bell rang. And now, weâre in this situation.
Kyle shakes his head and starts eating his lunch, while Vivian finishes hers and wipes her lips. She then smiles at the boy.
Vivian:Â So, whatâs your next artwork going to be?
People kept asking me that question and I always say that I donât have anything planned at the moment. But knowing this girlâs enthusiasm, sheâll just keep bugging me about it and I just canât snap at her. So, for the first time, I gave up to that very question.
Kyle:Â Well... I am working a Spring-themed artwork of a couple...
Vivian squeals in silence. She tries to scream as happily but as quietly as possible.
Vivian:Â Aaahh! I canât wait!
Kyle just smiles shyly.Â
Recommended Music:Â Violence Over (YLiA)
Soon after, Karen and Sam approach the table. They did not notice Vivian yet as they are used to Kyle being alone at the cafeteria.
Karen:Â Hey, Kyle. Whatâs going o--
Karen freezes at the sight of the redhead girl. Sam walks up beside her and looks at her curiously.
Sam:Â Whatâs wrong, Ka--
Sam glances at Vivian and freezes as well. Kyle sighs.
Kyle:Â Guys, this is my new friend, Vivian.
Vivian waves at the two with a bright smile.
Vivian:Â Nice to meet you two.
Sam quickly sets down his meal on the table and drops to his knees. He raises his hands upwards and screams at the ceiling.
Sam:Â THERE IS A GOD!!
Kyle does a facepalm and Vivian just laughs shyly. Karen quickly sets down her meal and walks up to Kyle, grabbing her brotherâs collar.
Karen:Â TELL. ME. EVERYTHING!!
Kyle:Â Alright! Chill!
Of course, theyâd be curious and excited to know about my encounter with Vivian. Theyâve been waiting for this very moment.
The couple sits with the two newly-acquainted friends and Kyle tells the entire story of his encounter with the redhead girl and what happened between them until lunch period. Karen and Sam let out a bright smile while Kyle gives them an annoyed look.
Karen:Â Well, look at that. My twin brother has his very own Number 1 Fan.
Kyle:Â Oh, shut it.
Karen and Sam offer their hands to Vivian.
Karen:Â Iâm Kyleâs twin sister, Karen.
Vivian:Â Iâve known about you because of your book, Endless Summer. But still, nice to meet you!
Karen smiles at the compliment.
Sam:Â And Iâm Sam, the twinsâ childhood friend and Karenâs boyfriend. Also...
Vivian:Â Captain of the Skylia Dragons Football Team, I know.
Sam looks at Kyle with surprise
Sam:Â Damn, Kyle. You have one helluva friend here!
Kyle:Â Stop.
Karen suddenly remembers what happened in the Story & Film Club.Â
Karen:Â Oh! I almost forgot.
She pulls out the poster that Elizabeth showed and gave to her.
Karen:Â Would you guys like to participate in this?
The group lay their eyes on the Film Festival poster.Â
Karen:Â The club is planning on adapting Endless Summer into a film.
Sam winks at Karen.
Sam:Â Iâll join... only if youâll be Emily and Iâll be your Jake McKenzie.
Karen blushes and laughs.
Karen:Â Oh, stop it, you. You know you have to go through auditions first.
Kyle chuckles.
Kyle:Â I donât know, but the way he said it sounds like something Jake would say when heâs planning on joining a play with Emily.
Karen squints at Kyle.
Karen:Â Fine. Why donât you join the casting auditions too?
Kyle:Â What?! NO!!
Karen shakes her head.
Karen: Nope, you canât say âNoâ. You have drawn an artwork of my story and have read it. That means you have been involved in this film from the start.
Kyle:Â Ugh... fine...
Karen nods and turns to Vivian. Before the brunette could even say anything, the redhead quickly nods at her.
Vivian:Â No need to ask. Iâm in!
Karen:Â Perfect! Auditions start later at 4:30 pm at the auditorium. Mr. Cameron has already informed the principal and has posted the announcement on the bulletin board.
Sam then jumps in to change the subject. He tells more about himself, Karen and Kyle to Vivian while they finish their lunch meals. Soon after, they finish lunch period and go on about their usual school business.Â

The clock strikes at 4:30 pm and Kyle is making his way to the auditorium.
I wasnât really sure if I wanted to participate in the Film Festival. My mind is still messed up. What is wrong with me? Iâve never felt like this since I met Vivian. My heartâs beating fast and I donât know why. But I should know why. Iâve witnessed this kind of feeling before but I just donât know what it is.
Kyle enters the auditorium and from the stage, Karen spots him. She waves at her twin brother.
Karen:Â Kyle, over here!
Her company turns to the brunet boy and waves at him. This company includes Sam, Vivian, Elizabeth, Mark and Danny. Kyle walks up to the stage. Sam takes the time to introduce Danny to the group.
Sam:Â Oh, by the way, everyone. This is Danny, our new goalkeeper and Markâs successor.
Danny is startled by the word, âsuccessorâ.
Danny:Â Well... I donât know about being his successor yet...
Mark pats his juniorâs back.
Mark:Â Donât be unsure about it, Danny. I can already see it in you.
Danny smiles as he meets everyone else and shake their hands. Karen does the same introductions to Vivian. As everyone finishes meeting each other, Kyle asks about the auditions.
Kyle:Â So, whatâs gonna happen first?
Karen:Â Well, for now, weâll start the auditions for our favorite redhead heroine, Quinn Kelly.
Karen signals Mr. Cameron, from the seats, to begin. The literature teacher claps his hands.
Mr. Cameron:Â Alright, take your seats, people! Auditions are about to start! First up, auditions for Quinn Kelly.
After ten minutes of other students auditioning, Elizabeth comes up on stage, holding a script with Quinnâs lines. The black-haired girl attempts to portray the redheaded beauty in the story but was unable to because she was nervous, rather than spontaneous, on stage. Karen notices this and turns to Vivian.
Karen:Â Hey, Vi. Will you give Eli your script with Graceâs lines?
Vivian:Â Oh, of course.
Vivian runs up to Elizabeth and tells her of the situation. Elizabeth agrees and reads Graceâs lines. She nods and tries again. This time, thanks to her shy personality, she was able to portray the smart girl perfectly. Karen claps and gives her fellow club member a thumbs up. The others follow on the clapping and the audition continues.Â
Recommended Music:Â You Exist in Spring (YLiA)
Karen again turns to Vivian.
Karen:Â Vivian, why donât you try out for Quinn?
Vivian smiles shyly.
Vivian:Â No, I donât think I can do her well.
Karen:Â Please?
Karen shows puppy eyes towards the redhead and the latter eventually groans and chuckles as she stands up. She gets onstage and reads Quinnâs lines. She channels the enthusiasm she had when she met Kyle and used it on her audition. Everyone was astounded by her performance, even Kyle. Soon, the entire auditorium did a standing ovation towards Vivian. They knew that she would be the perfect person to play as Quinn. The redhead girlâs green eyes light up as she skips merrily back to her seat. Kyle is left staring at Vivian throughout the entire audition.
She was... amazing. For a girl who is pursuing musical arts, who knew she could be talented in acting too. Or is it because of her enthusiasm earlier? That couldâve been it. It matches well with Quinnâs spontaneous personality that covers her sadness over her illness. I want to know more, about what makes her tick, and why, no matter how hard I close my eyes, her bright light pierces through my eyelids. I want to audition for Casey.
As the audition continues, many other flawless performances were made; Karen portrayed Emily, Sam portrayed Jake, Danny portrayed Diego, Mark portrayed Sean, and Ariya, captain of the Skylia Girlâs Volleyball team, portrayed Estela. However there was one character that no one seems to get right, Casey, the male protagonist. Mr. Cameron and Karen end up massaging their heads from stress. Meanwhile after Kyle reads the audition script, he stands up and turns to his sister and the teacher.
Kyle:Â Hey, umm... can I have a go?
Karen and Mr. Cameron look at Kyle with surprise.
Karen:Â Oh, sure!
Mr. Cameron:Â Go ahead, Kyle.
Kyle runs up to the stage and goes through the script again before doing the audition.Â
Yeah. I know clearly well how Casey felt in this scene. The feeling of losing someone very close to your heart. Iâve read and loved his character arc, even before Endless Summer started to catch fire. He lost his friends and sacrificed his entire life to become the Endless in the first timeline, against his own twin sisterâs objections. I regret turning down Karenâs offer of letting me join here earlier. No one seems to able to play Casey... thatâs why I have to do it. Only I can understand and portray him.
Mr. Cameron signals him.
Mr. Cameron:Â Alright, audition for Casey from Endless Summer. Scene, the mourning of Quinnâs supposed death in Elyyâstel. Aaand..... ACTION!
Kyle quickly kneels down and starts to remember the incident that caused his parentsâ death six months ago. Real tears start to fall from his eyes as he pretends that Quinn is either one of his dying parents. He is able to portray Casey so flawlessly that everyone thought that he was also a great actor.Â

But only a few people know that Kyle wasnât faking it; Karen, Sam and Mr. Cameron, because they know of his past. Vivian also manages to know that Kyle wasnât faking his expressions. She can see it clearly on his face. Mr. Cameron stands up and approaches Kyle. He places a hand on the boyâs shoulder.
Mr. Cameron:Â Thatâs enough, Kyle. You got the part. Go sit with your sister and let out the rest of your emotions.
Kyle nods and hurries to Karen and Sam, who comforted him. Vivian looks at the brunet boy with concern, while Mark, Danny and Elizabeth notice that he was actually crying. Mr. Cameron checks his watch and notices that it is now 7:00 pm. He claps his hands to catch the attention of the students in the auditorium.
Mr. Cameron:Â Alright, that is it for the main cast auditions. I will post in the bulletin board tomorrow who will play who. Dismissed.
Most of the students leave the auditorium with only a few people still inside. Karen, Sam and Mr. Cameron comfort Kyle while Vivian, Elizabeth, Mark and Danny watch from the side.
Mr. Cameron:Â Kyle? How are you now, my boy?
Kyle tries to wipe his tears but more kept coming.
Kyle:Â Iâm...Â
Suddenly, Vivian approaches him and lays his head on her chest while giving him a warm embrace. Everyone else are stunned by this.
Vivian:Â There, there. Itâs okay to for you to be sad about what happened to you in the past. We all lose... something in our lives... but that doesnât mean that we are truly lost. Everything always works out in the end, Kyle.
Kyleâs tears stop from falling from his eyes as he nods. Soon after, he was wiping his face and does one last sniff.
Kyle:Â Alright.... Iâm okay now...
That was it. For the first time ever, I was able to say âI am okay.â with all of my heart. It was a hundred percent true and I mean every word of it. Karen and Sam smiled at me because they knew that I wasnât lying this time. Vivian was truly something else.
Mr. Cameron gently ruffles Kyleâs hair before turning to the remaining students.
Mr. Cameron:Â Alright, everything is fine now. You should all go home. Itâs late.
The remaining students nod and they leave the auditorium along with Mr. Cameron. Elizabeth placed a caring and reassuring hand on Kyleâs shoulder before leaving with sadness pasted on her face. Kyle tells Karen and Sam to go on ahead as he has to clean his face up first in the boysâ restroom. The two smile and nod at him and the boy smiled back, genuinely, and ran off.
A few minutes later, Kyle walks past the auditorium and notices that one of its doors are open. He takes a peek and sees that Vivian is standing by the stage, looking at the red curtains.
I allowed myself to stay longer not because I was curious about what Vivian was doing, but because... she was a completely different person at the time. Even from far away, I could hear her sing... I only heard a few lyrics but I can tell, she was singing Taylor Swiftâs song, The Best Day. But she wasnât singing it happily...
I can clearly tell from her voice, she was crying...

Cold. Even though winter is almost gone, everything still felt cold. Even before winter came, it still felt cold when this cruel world decided to take something that gave me happiness. What am I to do now? Why am I still here? How shall I end my suffering, without taking my own life?
Voice:Â Kyle...? KYLE!!
Chestnut eyes open to the sound of a girlâs concerning voice. All they could see is the orange tint of the sky during a sunset. A brunet boy sits up after waking from his snap while rubbing his eyes. A brunette girl is sitting next to him, with an annoyed look, while a blond boy is sitting beside her, with his arm around her shoulder and while sharing the same expression as her.
Girl:Â Finally!
Kyle:Â Ugh... what? What do you want, Karen?
Karen:Â You slept past an important conversation again.
Kyle:Â Whatâs so important about my future...?
The girl rolls her eyes and turns to her boyfriend.
Karen:Â Sam, help me out here...
The blond boy grins and his ocean-blue eyes light up. He reaches to nudge his friendâs arm.
Sam:Â Come on, Kyle! Tomorrowâs our last quarter in our last year in high school. Arenât you supposed to be happy?
Kyle stands from the inclined grass plain and walks to the nearby river. He picks up a few rocks and skips them across the river.
Kyle:Â Why should I be happy? Nothing can every make me happy after.... six months ago...
Samâs grin quickly falters as he shares the same depressed look as Karen while she clutches her chest.
Yeah, itâs true. Nothingâs been the same for six months. Itâs all been black and white to me. My parents passed away during an accident. Accidents; worthless excuses for the world to take something from you so heartlessly.Â
Kyle decided to stop and come back to sit with his sister and his friend.
Kyle:Â ....But you know? To be honest, I am feeling kind of excited for tomorrow.... Kind of...
Smiles return to Karen and Sam. The blond boy lightly punches Kyle on the arm.
Sam:Â Thatâs our boy!
Karen:Â Itâs not a lot but itâs good enough. Weâre here for you if you need any help.
Kyle smiles and nods.
Kyle:Â Thanks, guys.
I lied. I just didnât want them to bring the subject back to my mind. Whatever satisfies them just to make them change the subject into something else other than... that, Iâll do it.
The three best friends stayed by the riverside longer as they watch the sun set between the mountains. Once nighttime arrives, they got up from the grass plain and go to their bikes. They mount their bikes and cycle back to their respective homes, but not before Karen and Sam shared a sweet kiss. Away from their vision, Kyle manages to smile... slightly.
Even though Mom and Dad are gone, I just canât help but be happy for my sister. Sheâs found someone who filled in the gap in her life. Sheâs been more enthusiastic with her stories and films than me with my artworks.
Kyle proceeds to look up and stare at the moon and stars.
When will I find that âsomeoneâ?
Karen taps his her brotherâs shoulder and Kyle looks behind her to see Sam waving at him while cycling away. The brunette cycles past the her brother.

Karen:Â Last one home gets to wash the dishes!
Kyle:Â Hey!
Kyle tries to catch up to Karen but was easily defeated when they reached home. Karen celebrates and laughs.
Karen:Â Haha! I win!
Kyle:Â No fair! You had a headstart!
Karen proceeds to laugh again as she and Kyle enter the house. They are greeted by a tall brunet, wearing an apron and his hair tied into a ponytail.
Kyle:Â Hey, Lucas.
Karen:Â Hi, Big Bro!
Lucas:Â Ah, good. Youâre here just in time. Dinnerâs ready.
Lucas. Heâs been here ever since he graduated from college last year and heard the news about Mom and Dad. Heâs been taking care of me and Karen while serving his job as a freelance IT, providing technological help to any business in need. Heâs very good at his job. In fact, my family consists of very talented people. Itâs why we get around life so easily when it comes to finance.
Karen skips to the dining room while Kyle walks behind her. The three siblings gather around the table and start having their dinner. Lots of laughs and stories were shared until they finish. Kyle, honoring his part of the deal, washes the dishes but with Lucasâs help. Karen heads upstairs to her bedroom and starts writing another one of her great stories. While washing the dishes, the brothers have a heart-to-heart conversation.
Lucas:Â So...
Kyle:Â So... what?
Lucas: Have you found your âSamâ yet?
Kyle:Â WHAT?!
I know Lucas didnât mean Sam that way but someone similar to him, someone who can bring me happiness the same way he did to Karen. But still, does my big brother have to bring it up that way?! I looked at him, annoyed while he chuckled.
Lucas: Iâm just kidding. I meant have you found your âspecial someoneâ yet?
Kyle shakes his head.
Kyle:Â No...
Lucas kept a smile on his face.
Lucas:Â Iâm pretty sure youâll find that person soon. After all, spring is coming and most happy beginnings start in spring.
Kyle:Â Yeah? Happy beginnings? What about endings? Have you seen Your Lie in April?
Lucas:Â Uhh... well...
Lucas shakes his head and squints his eyes towards his little brother.
Lucas:Â You know what I mean!
Kyle chuckles and finishes his half of the dishes.
I donât know why, but Lucas always has more impact towards me with his words than Karen. I feel guilty for lying to her earlier about my fake happiness. She does have an impact on me but...
After the dishes, Lucas pats Kyle on the back before the little brother runs upstairs and knocks on Karenâs door. She opens it up and peeks out.
Karen:Â Yes?
Kyle:Â Iâm sorry.
Karen:Â For what?
Kyle:Â For faking my smile earlier.
Karen:Â I knew...
Kyle:Â You did?
Of course, she did. Sheâs my twin sister. Even though weâre not psychics, she can still tell if Iâm lying or not.
Karen:Â Donât pretend like you donât know that I did.
Kyle looks down.
Kyle:Â Iâm really sorry.
Karen fully opens the door and reaches to hug her brother.
Karen:Â Itâs okay. I just donât want you to end up becoming a talented, yet monotone artist. Thereâs more to you than that.
Kyle remains silent as he just nods.
Maybe the reason Lucas has more impact on me is because heâs more sympathetic with his approach. Karen always make me smile through hilarious antics yet she can never do it when she shows concern. This has been the first time that she did have an impact on me, and itâs not the last.
Kyle and Karen pull away from their embrace and smiled.
Karen:Â There we go! An actual smile!
Kyle grins and chuckles.
Kyle:Â Alright, alright. You win.
Karen ruffles her brotherâs hair before going back to her room, laughing.
Karen:Â Good night, Kyle.
Kyle:Â Night, Sis.
Karen closes her door and Kyle goes to his room. Meanwhile below the stairs, Lucas is hiding and eavesdropping on their conversation. He smiles before going to his room.

Morning rises and spring quarter has begun. Kyle, Karen and Lucas get out of their house, all set and ready for school and work, respectively. Lucas gets in his car and drives off, but not before greeting his siblings goodbye.
Lucas:Â The usual 6 pm! Bye!
Kyle and Karen wave to their big brother before mounting their bikes and making their way to school. They are joined by Sam and soon, the three reach Skylia High School.
Sam:Â HELLOOOO, SPRING QUARTER!!!
Karen giggles at Samâs excitement while Kyle just rolls his eyes as they lock their bikes at the bike rack. They eventually split and and go to their respective club rooms; Kyle to the Art Club, Karen to the Stories & Film Club, and Sam to the Gymnasium. The three wave at each other while walking to their respective destinations.
Kyle:Â Iâll see you back by the end of school!
Karen:Â Talk soon!
Sam:Â YEET!
Sam enters the boyâs locker room, changes into his football uniform and puts on his captainâs band. He then enters the gymnasium and gathers his teammates.
Sam:Â Alright, boys, get in line.
The sophomores, juniors and seniors follow Samâs orders with no problem, while the freshmen does it so nervously. One particular freshman catches Samâs attention.
Sam:Â Hey, you.
The new player stands up straight and trembles.
New Player:Â Yes?!
Sam chuckles and puts his hand on the new playerâs shoulder.
Sam:Â Hehe. Hey, donât worry. Iâm not the strict type. As captain, I usually attempt to be close to the teamâs goalkeepers to have like a second-in-command, since they handle leading the defense line.
New Player:Â Well... I donât think I can handle a leadership role yet...
Another goalkeeper, Mark Evans, stands beside Sam and encourages the new player.
Evan:Â Donât worry. It takes time but once you have a practical example, youâll know what to do, especially when the team needs you to be the best you can be.
Sam:Â Mark is right, you know.
The new goalkeeper looks at his superiors with a smile.
New Player:Â Thanks, sirs.
Sam:Â No prob. Say, whatâs your name?
New Player: Dannielle Wallace. But you can call me, âDannyâ.
Mark offers his hand.
Mark:Â Welcome to the team, Danny.
The two keepers shake their hands and soon, Sam gets to know the rest of his new teammates. After introductions, they start the freshmen tryouts and when it is Dannyâs turn, Sam becomes the forward to test him.
Sam:Â Ready, Danny?
Danny:Â Yes, sir!
Sam dashes towards his junior and kicks the ball to the Dannyâs right side. The new goalkeeper reacts and leaps to his right, but suddenly, the ball curves to his left; a feint done by Sam. Although Danny ends up surprised, his reflexes composed him. He quickly twists his body to face upwards and kicks the ball to the air. He lands on the ground but quickly stands up and jumps to catch the falling ball. Finally, he turns to Sam with a confident smirk. The captain and Mark walk up to Danny while slowly clapping.
Mark:Â Oooh, boy. That has got to be the best tryout I have ever seen!
Sam:Â Exactly! Danny, congratulations. Youâre on the team.
Danny smiles and jumps for joy before shaking the hands of his seniors and thanking them. Sam turns to the rest of the team.
Sam:Â Alright, tryouts are over. Letâs practice!
Team:Â YEAH!!
The Skylia Dragons start their practice for the upcoming Spring Football Tournaments.
Meanwhile in the Story & Film club, Karen is continuing her new story that she was working on the previous night when suddenly, the club door bursts open. Karen is startled and glares at her fellow club member, Elizabeth.
Elizabeth:Â Good news!
Karen:Â What, Eli?! Whatâs so good news that you have to scare me half to death?!
Elizabeth quickly bows repeatedly while apologizing. She then stands up straight and shows Karen a poster. It says, âAryndelle City Spring Film Festivalâ, and Karen jumps for joy.
Karen:Â Yes! Eli, you wonderful girl!
Karen pulls Elizabeth into a tight hug while their literature teacher, Mister Alexander Cameron, peeks out from behind the book shelves.
Mr. Cameron:Â What is it, girls?
Elizabeth turns to her teacher and shows the poster while Karen looks at him with bright eyes and a grin.
Mr. Cameron:Â Ah, of course! We are definitely taking part in that.
Karen:Â Yes!
Mr. Cameron:Â We just need actors and crew. Maybe you can ask Kyle and Sam to join us, Karen.
Karen:Â Oh, absolutely!
At the mention of Kyleâs name, Elizabeth quickly blushes and hides her face with the poster. Karen doesnât notice this and quickly goes over to a shelf of books.
Karen:Â Letâs see, which stories are we going to recreate as a film?
Mr. Cameron: What about your best work so far?
Elizabethâs blush quickly fades and she reveals herself under the poster with a smile.
Elizabeth:Â Yes! We should definitely film Endless Summer!
Karen grins and pulls out a large green book. She then sits by a nearby table and starts writing a screenplay of said book. Elizabeth and Mr. Cameron join her.

Meanwhile at the schoolâs gates, a redhead girl enters. She is reluctant and anxious yet she still keeps moving. As she walks in the hallways, she spots the schoolâs trophy booth. In it, she sees a picture of Kyle and Karen holding their respective artwork and book about latterâs story, Endless Summer. The girlâs reluctance and anxiety fades away as she blushes and smiles before quickly running around the halls, presumably looking for something, or someone.
Kyle makes his way towards the art club to meet his mentor and art teacher, Mister Pablo Ross. On his hands, he was playing Legend of Zelda on his Nintendo Switch. Even with his eyes glued to the console, he is still aware of his surroundings and knows where to go.
Gaming has always been a staple to my life. On my 5th birthday, my parents introduced me to the world of gaming when they bought me a Playstation 3. I had lots of fun, playing with Karen and Lucas. When Mom and Dad passed away, I grew more attached to video games because, just like my arts, theyâre a reminder of them, the people who loved and raised me. I just canât seem to move on like my siblings. People keep saying that thereâs a âspecial someoneâ out there for me, to break me free from this torment. But I keep doubting them... until today...
Suddenly, the same redhead girl from earlier stands in front of Kyle and happily points at him. Her green eyes light up at the sight of him.
Girl:Â There you are!
Kyle looks at the girl with confusion.
Kyle:Â Wha... huh...?
The girl then offers her hand for a shake.
Girl:Â Iâm Vivian. And I am in love with your artworks!
Kyle is taken aback by the girlâs sudden introduction and affection towards his own work. He is left speechless with lots of things going on in his mind.
On the Spring of 2018, I met a girl, who instantly confessed to me. And soon after... for a brief moment...

Itâs the second annual La Huerta River Race event and Quinn, the first place winner last year is speaking at the stage, alongside Meg, last yearâs second place winner. Jake and Taylor spot their daughter, Kaitlyn, and the other kids.
Taylor:Â Hey, look who it is!
Jake:Â Liâl marshmallow!
The family run into each other, exchanging loving embraces. The others walk towards them with smiles.
Blight:Â Lookinâ slick, Flyboy.
Jake looks up and grins at Blightâs compliment.
Jake:Â Could say the same for you, Goggles.
The two men approach each other and high five. Jake whispers to Blightâs ear.
Jake:Â So, how is he?
Blight:Â Heâs doing great. Just a few more getting used to his prosthetic limbs and--
Taylor:Â What are you guys whispering about?
Jake and Blight suddenly jump and look at Taylor with a nervous grin.
Jake:Â Nothing!
Blight:Â Yeah! We were just... talking about... umm...
Jake:Â Psyducks!
Blight:Â Thatâs right, Psyducks!
The two men quickly laugh to cut the tension and suspicion.Â
Everyone looks at them with unamused looks. Taylor lightly smacks Jakeâs head.
Taylor:Â Geez, even without Tyler here, you always have someone to joke around with.
Jake:Â Ow!
Meanwhile, Vishakha and Elesis mock Blight.
Elesis:Â I rarely see you like this, Blight.
Vishakha:Â Youâre so lame, Jester.
Blight:Â Hey!
After a few laughs and reconnecting, everyone walks to the crowd. Suddenly, a woman calls out to Mika.
Mikaâs Mother:Â Here you go, dear. Make sure you take care of it like itâs your own child.
Mika:Â Thanks, Mom.
The two share an embrace again and Mikaâs mother plants a kiss on the girlâs forehead. They exchange âI love youâsâ and âgoodbyesâ before parting ways. Kaitlyn's family approach Mika.
Jake:Â I think Mikadzukiâs got a Togepi egg there.
(Note: Jake calls Mika, âMikadzukiâ because it is the Japanese word for âCrescent Moonâ. Mika wears a crescent moon choker and she has a strand of hair thatâs shaped like a crescent moon.)
Taylor:Â Oh, so youâre planning on using a Togepi evolution line for the Grand Festival.
Mika: Mhm!
Kaitlyn:Â Thatâs awesome!
After the four share smiles, they reunite with the others and listen to the rules of the River Race event.
Quinn:Â Now, the rules of the race are simple; reach the finish line first before your opponents do. The finish line is located at the riverside of Mansingh Town.
Taari:Â Oh! Thatâs where our next gym battle is!
Reginald:Â Then I guess we should participate in this race. Not only is it fun, but itâs also a way for us to reach my motherâs town fast.
Kaitlyn:Â Yep!
Meg continues the explanation of the rules.
Meg:Â However, you must NOT knock your opponent out of their surfboards. Only the obstacles are allowed to do that. Speaking of which, the raceâs obstacles include, rock formations, small and harmless whirpools, and Carvanhas that only get hostile if you get too close.
Those who are interested in joining the race make their way to the sign up booth. Taari, Reginald, Kaitlyn and Mika do the same. Vishakha, Elesis and Meg are at the stage, exchanging hugs.
Meg:Â Miss ya, Sistas!
Elesis:Â Miss ya too!
Vishakha:Â Yeet!

Meanwhile, Taylor and the other adults gather around to discuss something important.
Taylor:Â So, Blight... Jake says that youâve been helping him find my brother, Tyler?
Blight:Â Thatâs right. According to my scans so far, heâs been last seen up in the mountains, near Prisma City.
Jake:Â Thatâs where Michelle lives.
Quinn:Â What do you think has he been doing these past months?
Blight:Â I donât know but based on his the places heâs been going to... I think heâs...
Taylor:Â Heâs what?
Blight:Â ...Looking for Vaanuâs other fragments, Palkia and Dialga.
There is a sudden silence between the group. Quinn clutches her chest after hearing what her husband has been doing ever since she lost him.
Quinn:Â ....Tyler....
Jake:Â So, Boy Scoutâs been looking for answers to the questions weâve been asking since he and Princess got back her five years ago?
Blight:Â I guess so...
Taylor scoffs.
Taylor:Â Well, that still doesnât excuse him from leaving us! He shouldâve told us about his plan. We couldâve covered more ground together! Instead, he did it alone because heâs so hung up on the loss of--
Taylor notices Quinn starting to break into tears.
Taylor:Â Oh no, Quinn. Iâm sorry. I... didnât mean to...
Taylor gives Quinn a gentle hug while Blight looks at Jake.
Blight:Â Loss?
Jake:Â Yup...
Jake clears his throat.
Jake:Â You see, Goggles... seven and a half months ago... Tyler and Quinn lost their son, Brandon Kelly.
A weight is pulled in Blightâs heart as he hears the sad news. He is also struck by the idea that he might lose his niece, his daughter-figure, Vishakha. He quickly turns to Quinn.
Soon after, the tension is cut by the kids and the Aryndelle sisters approaching the adults.
Meg:Â Yo! Everythingâs all set and everyone is signed up.
Jake gets between the adults and the kids to hide Quinnâs sadness.
Jake:Â Nice! Now, letâs get this show on the road, Megatron!
Meg:Â âMegatronâ?
Jake:Â What?! Itâs the best I can come up with your name!
Meg and the kids chuckle while Jake groans and leads them to the Grand La Huerta River. Blight and Taylor lead a slowly recovering Quinn to the stage as they watch the racers get ready. Taari, Reginald, Kaitlyn, Mika and the other racers change into their swimwear and call out their ride partners.
Kaitlyn:Â Iâm counting on you, Empoleon!
Reginald:Â Come out, Croconaw!
Taari:Â Letâs go, Wartortle!
Mika:Â I choose you, Blastoise!
The three kids look at Mikaâs Blastoise.
Mika:Â ....What?
Taari:Â Cool! Your Wartortle evolved! I canât wait for mine to evolve too!
Reginald:Â I guess the girls have the evolutionary advantage here.
Kaitlyn:Â Yeet!
Jake stands on the stage and announces the beginning of the race.
Taari and Reginald grin as they give their commands to their partners.
Taari:Â Use Aqua Jet!
Reginald:Â Use Aqua Jet!
Wartortle hides inside his shell and fires jets of water behind him from out of his shell holes to give Taari a boost. Croconaw surround himself with water as he does the same for Reginald. The two then pass Kaitlyn and Mika, accidentally splashing them with water.
Kailtyn:Â Hey!
Mika:Â Rude!
The boys snicker and high five.Â
Kaitlyn:Â Empoleon, use Bubble Beam!
Mika:Â Use Water Gun, Blastoise!
Empoleon fires a barrage bullet-like bubbles towards Taari while Blastoise fires a stream of water towards Reginald. The boys end up getting splashed with water but they remain on their boards.
The four compose themselves and work together to catch up to the other racers. Meanwhile, on the stage, Blight, Vishakha and Elesis say their goodbyes to the others.
Elesis:Â Right, we should probably head to Prisma City to prepare the Masquerade Ball.
Vishakha:Â Yep. Take care, Sis!
Meg:Â You too, Sista!
Blight looks at Jake, Taylor and Quinn.
Blight:Â You take care too, you guys.
Jake:Â No prob, Goggles.
They all exchange hugs before parting ways. Jake, Taylor, Quinn and Meg focus on the river race while Blight, Vishakha and Elesis make their way to Prisma City.Â

His two nieces follow his gaze.
Vishakha:Â The orange and blue comet!
Elesis:Â What is that supposed to be anyway?
Blight:Â I dunno, but... I think this is the first time itâs passing by Earth since itâs never been seen before until now.
The three shrug off the comet and continue on their way. Meanwhile back at the river race, a loud boom is suddenly heard.
Jake:Â What was that?!
Two large figures pass by the stage. Jake and the others recognize them.
Taylor:Â Is that...?!
Jake:Â No way!
Quinn:Â Itâs.... Tyler!
Meg:Â And Palkia?!
The three spot Tyler flying over the river, on his Charizard, while chasing Palkia.
Tyler and Palkia eventually fly over the racers. The kids notice them.
Taari:Â Woah! Is that...?!
Kaitlyn:Â Uncle Tyler?!
Reginald:Â And the legendary Palkia?!

Mika:Â Too late for that!
Taylor, Jake, Quinn and Meg take notice of the situation.
Quinn:Â The racers!Â
Meg:Â Theyâre in danger!
Jake:Â We gotta go help them.
Taylor:Â Come on!
The four rush towards the endangered racers. Meanwhile, Tyler is still chasing Palkia.
Tyler:Â Charizard, use Fire Blast!
Charizard attempts to breathe a 性-shaped flame towards Palkia. But before he could do it, another Fire Blast is fired towards them. Tyler and Charizard notices this and avoid it just in time.

Summary: Letâs just say, Jake âborrowedâ his sisterâs police car and ensues hijinks with Casey.
Disclaimer: I apologize to those who are related to police officers. I did not mean to insult the law nor the people who enforce them. Plus I have no idea how cop talks work so I did my best to write them down. I was just basing this from a Youtube Video of the same name by the channel, Mondo Media.
After the escape from the island of La Huerta and the mission to restore Casey and Emily back, the twins have finally settled down and marry their respective soulmates. Casey marries Quinn Kelly, while Emily marries Jake McKenzie. While Jake and Emily search for a new place to call their home, Rebecca, Jakeâs sister, invites them to live under her roof in the meantime. Meanwhile, Casey now lives with Quinn.
One day, Rebecca goes out with Emily to go shopping with Quinn. Jake wakes up and walks around the empty house while rubbing his eyes.
Jake:Â Princess? Sis?
Jake realizes that heâs currently home alone and finds a letter from Emily that she went shopping with the girls. Jake nods at the letter and prepares his own breakfast. Afterwards, he goes in the garage to move a few boxes when he comes across Rebeccaâs police car. He gives it a considering look and remembers the car keys on the kitchen table.
Jake:Â Hmm....
He then smirks.
Meanwhile, just a few blocks away from Rebeccaâs house, Casey is also home alone in Quinnâs house trying to do chores. He is currently mowing the lawn.
Casey:Â Ah, what a wonderful day...
All of a sudden, police sirens start bursting while someone speaks through a megaphone.
Voice:Â Get on the ground, a-hole! Do it! Do it now!
Casey freaks out and does what the voice is telling him. He goes down on the ground, with his hands over his head, and starts to whimper. The voice continues.
Voice:Â Iâll shoot yo face off, ye son of a yeller belly!
Soon after, Jake drives up next to a cornered Casey and laughs.
Jake:Â HAHA! You shouldâve seen your face, Boy Scout!
Casey looks up to see Jake then stands up furious.
Casey:Â Jake?! You douchebag! You scared the sh--
Casey notices what Jake is driving.
Casey:Â WHAT THE HELL?! DID YOU STEAL REBECCAâS POLICE CAR?!
Jake puts his finger on his grin.
Jake:Â Sshh! Donât be too loud!
Casey continues to banter.
Casey:Â Dude! Get outta there! Our sisters are going to kill you!
Jake:Â Pffft! Weâre only going for a short drive. They wonât know that I even touched it.
Casey:Â âWeâ?! Iâm not going to get involved in this!
Casey crosses his arms and squints at Jake.
Jake:Â .......Iâll let you speak through the megaphone.
Caseyâs scary face turns into a considering look.
Two minutes later, Jake and Casey are now cruising through town in Rebeccaâs car.
Casey:Â WOOO!!!...
Jake:Â ...HOO!!!
Their hijinks ensue until they are radioed by the station.
Radio:Â All units, we got a 211 on 3rd Jefferson. All available units, respond.
Jake and Casey look at the radio then each other. They decided to go and investigate. They eventually arrive at a crime scene of a robbery in a bar, another police car is parked outside. They enter a bar to see a policeman interviewing the bartender and approach them.
Jake:Â Alright, what do we got?
The policeman looks at Jake and Casey and assumes that their off-duty cops not in their uniforms but still want to investigate.
Policeman:Â Uhh... Well, this bar was just robbed by a former employee. Whoever they may be, they couldnât have gone that far. Our dogs got his scent so weâll catch him in no time.
Jake:Â Good, good. Glad to see some good cop work around here.
Policeman:Â Sure...
The policeman exits the bar and goes back to his car. Meanwhile, the bartender prepares two glasses of beer for Jake and Casey.
Bartender:Â You boys keep fighting a good fight.
Jake raises his eyebrow at the drinks
Jake:Â Wait, we didnât order anything.
Bartender:Â I know. But knowing your hard work for our city, you deserve a treat. Iâm always on the house for cops.
Casey:Â Uhh...
Jake lightly elbows Casey and winks at him to play along. The pilot looks back at the bartender and âhumblyâ takes the glass.
Jake:Â Yeah, weâre cops.
Casey rolls his eyes and accepts his glass.
After a few drinks, Casey and Jake reach a drunk-state where they would just do almost anything stupid. So, they sort-of abused their âfake cop statusâ to get free stuff. They respond to another robbery crime scene near a Pizza Hut. After a small investigation, they get four boxes of pizza for free, while saying the same thing over and over.
Jake:Â Weâre cops!
Casey:Â Weâre cops.
Jake:Â Yep, weâre cops!
Soon after, Jake and Casey reach Rebeccaâs home. They enter the house with each holding two boxes of pizza, laughing, but quickly freeze as they see whoâs inside the house; Rebecca, Emily and Quinn, all crossing their arms towards the boys.
Emily:Â Where have you two been?
Jake:Â Uhh...
Casey quickly drops the boxes and runs out of the house. Quinn awakens her Vaanu powers and goes after him, leaving Jake to deal with his wife and sister.
Jake:Â Listen...
Rebecca: Weâre going back into my car and youâre going to pay for what youâve âgotten for freeâ!
Jake:Â Yes, but...
Emily:Â And youâre going to do chores for a month!
Jake gives up trying to defend himself.
Jake:Â ...okay...
Eventually, Quinn catches Casey and the three girls make the two boys pay for the beer and pizza they âgot for freeâ. Casey and Jake then served a whole month of harsh chores under the supervision of their wives. Though they did get some ârelaxationâ at some nights during that torturous month.

Blightâs Thoughts:Â Heh, I remember when he was just a Mienfoo. You were so determined in training and evolving him that you two spent a few hours meditating under a waterfall.
Blight raises his hand.
Blight:Â Let the match.... BEGIN!!
Vishakha reaches for her star necklace while Mika reaches for her crescent moon choker. Both girls tap on their Mega Stone and chant.
Vishakha: No more nice girl! Time to unleash the Rebel! With a blossom glow and a hard coreâŠ.Mawile, MEGA EVOLVE!
Mawile begins to glow and undergoes Mega Evolution.
Mika: Spread your wings through the eternal darknessâŠAbsol, MEGA EVOLVE!!
Absol roars again and begins to glow, undergoing Mega Evolution.
Everyone grins at each other as Mika makes the first move.
Mika:Â Let's do this! Absol, take lead! Shadow Claw on Mawile!Â
Absolâs claws gets surrounded by spectral energy as she charges towards Mawile but Mienshao gets in between them. Vishakha smirks.
Vishakha: Use Focus Punch on the ground, Mienshao!
Mienshaoâs two fists glow white as he strikes the ground with both of them. A shockwave blows Absol back to where she once stood while Luxray struggles to stay standing.
Mika:Â What power...
Blightâs Thoughts:Â Yup. Theyâve grown.
Mika grits her teeth but continues to attack.
Mika:Â Luxray, start charging up with Wild Charge! Absol, send some Psycho Cuts to them!
Electricity begins to surge throughout Luxrayâs body while he charges. Absol stands in front of him while her horn glows pink. She then sends blades of psychic energy towards Mawile and Mienshao.
Vishakha:Â Mienshao, use Meditate! Mawile, use Crunch to cover her!
Mienshao closes his eyes and starts to charge his power. Mawile stands in front of him and, with her two heads, continuously bite the oncoming Psycho Cut attacks.
Mika:Â Thatâs perfect. Luxray, use Constellar Lion Dance!
Luxray uses the electricity fully charged around him to form a Chinese Lion silhouette. He dashes towards the incoming Thunder Blast and harnesses it to make his attack more powerful. However, he still takes damage from the blast. Vishakha is startled.
Vishakha:Â Oh no! Get outta the way!
Mawile manages to avoid Luxray but Mienshao is tackled by the attack. Luxray does a U-turn and charges towards Mawile.
The three other kids look at Taari with unamused looks. Blight and the others spot the kids.
Blight:Â Oh, hey!
Mika:Â Kaitlyn...
Kaitlyn approaches Mika with concern.
Kaitlyn:Â What are you doing...?
Mika:Â Proving myself...
Mika looks down while Kaitlyn gives her a hug.
Kaitlyn:Â You donât have to prove yourself, Mika. Youâre already an amazing trainer and contestant.
Mika looks at Kaitlyn with a smile.
Mika:Â Really...?
Kaitlyn smiles back.
Kaitlyn:Â Yeah.... and besides...
Kaitlyn puffs her cheeks and glares at Mika. The latter is startled.
Kaitlyn:Â You challenge Vishakha to a battle first! Iâm jealous!
Vishakha giggles and calls out Kaitlyn.
Kaitlyn:Â Donât worry, Kaitlyn. Weâll have our very own battle.
The three girls smile at each other. Kaitlyn stands beside the other kids who are standing beside Blight as he continues the match. Mika enacts her next strategy.
Mika:Â Time for our combo move! Use Dark Lightning Punisher!
Vishakha:Â Hold out for as long as you guys can! Mawile, use Iron Defense and try to catch them with Crunch! Mienshao, parry their attacks with Force Palm!
Vishakha meets Blight and Elesis's eyes and smiles. Mawile senses Vishakhaâs determination and eventually catches both Absol by her horn and Luxray by his tail.

Taari raises his hand.
Taari:Â Me! Iâd like to do the Special Challenge!
Everyone looks at Taari, surprised.
Kaitlyn:Â Wait, what?!
Reginald:Â But, Taari, you donât have a Mega Stone yet.
Taari:Â Back in Orderve City, he called and told me that if I can defeat him and his Mega Sceptile using my Gallade, heâll not just reward me a badge, but he will also reward me with Galladeâs Mega Stone.
Craig:Â Set up the artillery and fire Bullet Seed!
Heracross plants both of his arms on the ground and gets on all fours as he targets Gallade. He then fires seeds towards his target at high speeds, like a machine gun. Gallade manages to dodge most of the seeds but wasnât able to avoid the ones going for his legs. He ends up tripping and skidding across the ground as he stops in front of Heracross.
Gallade nods as he keeps fighting Heracross. For every opening he finds, he sharpens his elbow blades, increasing every punch he delivers to Heracross. Craig realizes what Taari is doing and tries to stop him.
Craig:Â Oh, no, you donât! Use Megahorn, Heracross!
Heracross aims his arm towards Gallade and prepares to fire but...
Taari:Â I donât think so! Gallade, now! Use Stored Power!!
Gallade begins to glow purple and this catches Craig and Heracross off-guard.
Craig:Â Wait, what?!
Elesis:Â Of course! Thatâs why heâs been using Swords Dance over and over.
Taari:Â Thatâs right! Stored Powerâs damage depends on how many times Gallade increases his stats.
Kaitlyn turns to Reginald.
Kaitlyn:Â How many times did he use Swords Dance?
Reginald:Â About... 5 times!
Taari grins.
Taari:Â Thatâs right. Unleash the five-fold strength of Stored Power!
Craig:Â Run, Heracross!
Heracross tries to escape but Gallade quickly releases all of his stored pwer towards his opponent. Heracross is struck by a large pillar of psychic energy and is launched up in the air. He lands and ends up fainting, causing him to revert to his original form. The referee strikes the gong again, indicating the end of the match. Taari celebrates with his partner.

Reginald and Kaitlyn nod at each other and look back at Craig.
Kaitlyn:Â Both Reggie and I want to take you on together.
Craig:Â Ooh! The kids of my best buds working together, eh? Chyeah boi! Letâs do it!
Reginald:Â Excellent!
Reginald looks at a battlefield filled with fake trees.
Reginald:Â Whatâs that for?
Craig:Â Oh, thatâs for the Agility and Reflex Challenge.
Craig:Â ... is to take my Passimianâs coconut away from him.
Reginald:Â I see. And I assumed you trained him to be very agile.
Craig:Â Ya know it, liâl buddy!
Kaitlyn:Â This is so exciting!
Craig continues to explain the challenge.
Craig:Â Now that you guys understand what to do, the condition is to NOT get hit by Passimianâs attacks 3 times or else, you lose. But since there are two of you challenging me, weâll make it 5 times, as a generous offer.
Kaitlyn:Â Deal!
Craig:Â You can use attacks as well to slow down my Passimian.
Sneasel claws glow purple as she leaps from branch to branch, attempting to reach Passimian with great speed. Craig grins.
Craig:Â Alright, Passimian, use Electroweb!
Passimian leaps backwards and tosses a small electric sphere towards Sneasel. The sphere opens up into a web of electricity as it latches onto two branches. With Sneasel in the air after leaping, she is unable to change her momentum and she ends up getting caught and shocked by the Electroweb attack.
Reginald:Â Damn!
Craig chuckles.
Craig:Â People usually rush at my Passimian the moment the battle starts. Electrowebâs a good counter to that. And would you look at that, you guys are already 4 attacks from losing.
Kaitlyn:Â You know, itâs not like you to come up with things like these, Mister Craig.
Craigâs confidence quickly turns to annoyance.
Craig:Â Hey! Donât think so little of me!
He crosses his arms.
Craig:Â Gee, you may be Jakeâs adopted kid but you got his sarcasm.
Reginald:Â Did you really come up with these counters?
Craig:Â Pfft! Yeah!....
Soon, Craig rubs the back of his head.
Craig:Â ....with a little help from Sean and Zahra.
Kaitlyn:Â HA! Knew it!
Craig:Â Just shut up and continue the battle!
Kaitlyn chuckles as she delivers her order.
Kaitlyn:Â Raichu, use Agility!
Raichu leaps from tree to tree with inhumane speeds as she rushes towards Passimian.
Craig:Â Thatâs more like it! Passimian, use Seed Bomb!
Passimian scatters seeds towards Raichu and they start to make cracking sounds. Kaitlyn gasps.
Kaitlyn:Â Raichu, get outta there!
With the help of Agility, Raichu is able to get out of harm in time, saving them from having 3 strikes left before losing.
Craig:Â Heh, nice reflexes. But...
Passimian lands on the ground, standing behind a tree beside Sneasel and Raichu.
Passimian jumps from tree to tree. He sometimes wave his coconut around, toying with his opponents.
Kaitlyn:Â I got an idea.
Reginald:Â Go ahead.
Kaitlyn whispers her plan to Reginald and they nod at each other afterwards. Reginald turns to Sneasel.
Reginald:Â Sneasel, use Ice Shards!
Sneasel nods and conjures multiple shards of ice around her. She then fires them towards Passimian but the latter is able to evade them at the last second.
Kaitlyn:Â Raichu, use Volt Tackle!
Large amounts of electricity surges throughout Raichuâs body as she climbs up a tree and leaps towards Passimian.
Craig:Â Ha! Only one strike left! Passimian, use Seed Bo--
Craigâs eyes widen as he notices something; Passimianâs coconut is no longer in sight.
Craig:Â What the?! Whereâd it go?!
Passimian looks up and spots his coconut, struck by an ice shard that is latched on a tree trunk above him.
Reginald:Â Now, Sneasel! Use Ice Punch!
Sneasel clenches her fist and punches the ground. An ice spire rises from the ground as Sneasel is raised up towards the coconut.
Craig:Â I donât think so. Use Seed Bomb!
Passimian readies to scatter a handful of seeds but...
Kaitlyn:Â Electroweb!
Passimian notices Raichu leaping towards him as she tosses a web of electricity. Passimian is caught inside the web and is shocked by the electricity surging throughout the web. With no one to stop her, Sneasel reaches the coconut and takes it for herself. Reginald and Kaitlyn celebrate and share a high five.

Craigâs referee stands by a gong right near the Sumo ring and strikes it, indicating the start of the match. Elesis makes the first move.
Elesis:Â Typhlosion, use Focus Punch!
Flames burst on Typhlosionâs back while he clenches his fist. As his fist glows blue, he charges towards Pangoro. Craig smirks and waits for his opportunity to counter. As Typhlosion is almost inches away from Pangoro, Craig makes a move.
Craig:Â Dang, you put up quite a good fight. Most challengers struggle from my partnerâs Vital Throw.
Elesis scoffs with a smirk.
Elesis:Â Iâm not like most challengers.
Craig:Â True dat. But I guess itâs time to go all-out. Pangoro, use Outrage!
Pangoro roars loudly while becoming extremely enraged. His eyes gleam red as he charges towards Typhlosion. The latter quickly catches the former but struggles to stand his ground as he is pushed back. With her partner almost out of the ring, Elesis comes up with a solution.
Elesis: Youâre right. It IS time to go all-out. Typhlosion, use Burn Up!
Typhlosionâs eyes also gleam red as he roars very loudly. The flames on his back grow extremely large as he releases all of the fires in his body, temporarily losing his Fire-type. The resulting burst of flames causes Pangoro to be pushed back very far. He ends up with one foot out of the ring. The referee strikes the gong again, indicating the end of the match, while Elesis and her Typhlosion celebrate.Â
Elesis:Â We did it!
Typhlosion:Â Rar!
Craig approaches Pangoro and places a hand on his shoulder.
Authorâs Note: If the âKeep readingâ doesnât work, go here for the full post. Also, as a request from Elena (@lahuertasprincess), she wanted me to change her characterâs name throughout the whole series into âElesisâ. She said that itâs somehow causing her anxiety. I hope you all understand her situation.
In the humble town of Ursidae, Taari, Reginald, Kaitlyn and Elena have gathered in front of the townâs own Gym. Before they walk in, they remembered a conversation they had with Blight and his niece, Vishakha.
[FLASHBACK]
Blight and Vishakha are standing with the four Gym challengers at the hotel lobby.
Blight: Alright, her Highness and I are on our way to Prisma City to prepare for the Christmas Masquerade Ball.
Vishakha: Join us when you finish the Gym battle, Sis.
Elesis: I will.
Blight: What about the three of you?
Reginald: Weâre headed back to Mansingh Town in order to challenge my mother.
Blight: Ah, yes. Professor Grace Hall.
Taari: Iâm excited!
Kaitlyn: Me too.
Blight places a hand on Reginaldâs shoulder, as a means of saying âGood luck.â
Blight: Weâll see you soon in Prisma City.
Reginald: Of course.
And so, Blight and Vishakha left Ursidae Town.
[END OF FLASHBACK]
Back to the present, Taari takes a deep breath and looks at his friends.
Taari: Here we go!

They all nod at each other as they enter the Gym. They are soon greeted by Craig.
Craig: Alright! Youâre all here. Awesome!
He then leads his challengers to the main area. The kids are a bit confused as to why it is large and has different battlefields.
Reginald: So, youâre adding a twist to every challenger?
Kaitlyn: That doesnât sound like the Craig I know of.
Craig glares at Kaitlyn.
Craig: HEY! Just cuz Iâm as dumb as your parents say I am, doesnât  mean that I canât think of something like this!.... actually, Z helped me....
Kaitlyn: Ah, there he is.
Elesis: So, whatâs going to be our challenge then?
Craig: That depends on whoâs going to take me on....

The kids gather in front of Craig as he grins proudly.
Craig: Chyeah boi! Now that was an exciting gym challenge! You guys have really improved ever since your first gym battle.
The kids smile at his comment as he holds out four small items.
Craig: As a reward for beating the Ursidae Gym, I reward all four of you with the Ursa Badge.
Ursa Badge - 4 out of 8 Badges Collected.
The four kids store their badges in their cases. Afterwards, they thank Craig and high five him. They grin at each other before departing. At the gymâs doors, Craig waves at the kids and they wave back as they make their way to the city gate.

A few minutes earlier, outside of Ursidae, Blight and his niece, Vishakha are on their way to Prisma City. Vishakha smiles softly at her uncle.Â
Vishakha: I just remembered how you used to take me in the forest near the Forge and lead me to a cherry blossom garden.
Blight chuckles and grins.
Blight:Â Yeah, I remember that too. You like cherry blossoms so much that every time you visit the garden, your worries always go away instantly.
Vishakha:Â Hehe, true.
Blight pauses in thought and grins again.
Blight:Â I just remembered your battle with the Flame Vigilante.
Vishakha puffs her cheeks.
Vishakha:Â Hmph! That boy...
Blight:Â Iâm proud of you from the way you battled.
Vishakha:Â I... really?
Blight nods and Vishakha smile. Soon after, someone calls out to them from behind. They turn to see Mika running up to them.
Vishakha: Mika?
Blight: What are you doing here? Are you joining us on our way to Prisma City?
Mika: Actually... I want to challenge Vishakha.

Blight and Vishakha are startled.
Vishakha: HUH?!
Blight: Are you serious?
Mika nods.
Mika: I want to see if I can actually reach her with my current strength.... and to know what she sees in Kaitlyn...
Vishakha: What do you mean?
Mika sighs and looks at Vishakha with determination.
Mika: I... was eavesdropping on your conversation with her after the contest...
Vishakha approaches Mika and places a hand on her shoulder.
Vishakha: Mika, listen. Both of you and Kaitlyn have really good potential. Hell, you guys can even beat me in the upcoming Grand Festival, with enough hard work.
Mika: Really...?
Vishakha nods while Blight rebuttals.
Blight: Hey! What about me?!
Vishakha: Shut up.
Mika lets out a soft giggle at the Vishakha and Blightâs mishap. She then smiles and nods as Vishakha embraces her.
Mika: Thank you.
Vishakha: Youâre welcome. And yes, I accept your challenge.

Suddenly, they hear a trumpets playing within the woods.
Taari:Â Whatâs that?
Reginald:Â Hmm... can it be...?
Reginald rushes towards the source of the sound and everyone else follows him. They come across a group of people gathered near a large river. The people are facing a stage, where Taylor, Jake, Quinn and Meg are standing on.
Kaitlyn:Â Oh! Itâs Mom and Dad!
Reginald:Â Ah, I knew it! Itâs the annual La Huerta River Race!
