changed my mind about this blog, i think i'm gonna start making digital art and posting here because i feel like doing that right now :3 even though i haven't made much in a while... also i suck because i have barely any practice, but u gotta start somewhere ^w^
just uhh.. gonna clear out the rest of my old posts first since that was the whole point of making a completely detached blog haha..
bringing this back because i think this video helped a lot of people to realise that spiders aren’t all that scary. after posting this I got so many messages saying they love pepper and that he showed them that spiders are actually pretty cute, so hopefully this will help any new people who happen to come to this blog now. ♡

🇺🇸recall of 58 million pounds of corn dogs on a stick due to excess stick🇺🇸
recall was issued by the hillshire brands company. recalled corn dogs are sold under the names jimmy dean, state fair, and unbranded. this recall includes various types of french toast, pancake, cinnamon, chicken, beef, pork, turkey, sausage, cheese, and/or jalapeno varieties of corn dog. overall, dozens of different corn dog-esque products are being recalled with best/use by dates well into 2026.
normally with a corn dog there is supposed to be one single continuous piece of wood in there. one stick through which the corn dog is traditionally impaled and exhibited. unfortunately it seems that part of the stick-ing process got some extra wood into the corn dogs. at least 5 people have been injured.
not enough room for a picture of every recalled product, and some of them failed to upload, presumably due to looking like a penis.
WASHINGTON, September 27, 2025 – The Hillshire Brands Company, a Haltom City, Tex. establishment, is recalling approximately 58,000,000 pounds of corn dog and sausage on a stick products that may be contaminated with extraneous material, specifically pieces of wood embedded in the batter, the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) announced today.
The corn dog and sausage on a stick products were packaged between March 17, 2025, and September 26, 2025. A list of the products subject to recall can be found here: [view product list]. The labels for the impacted products can be found here: [view labels].
The products subject to recall bear establishment number “EST-582” or “P-894” printed on the packaging. These items were sold online and shipped to retail and food service locations nationwide. They were also sold to school districts and Department of Defense facilities nationwide. While the products were distributed to schools, it resulted from commercial sales and not part of food provided by the USDA for the National School Lunch Program.
some emphasis mine. the corn dogs contain extra sticks. these corn dogs were sold in stores, online, and for food service -- places where food is served where you probably do not see the corn dog's brand or original container first, basically. they were also distributed to schools and the department of defense.
the recalled products have “EST-582” or “P-894” on the package.
The problem was discovered after the establishment received multiple consumer complaints, five of which involved injuries. The Hillshire Brands Company conducted an investigation and determined that the wooden sticks entered the production process prior to product battering. FSIS has received no additional reports of injury from consumption of these products. Anyone concerned about an injury should contact a healthcare provider.
FSIS is concerned that some products may be in consumers’ refrigerators and freezers, along with school and institution refrigerators and freezers. Consumers, schools, and institutions who have purchased these products are urged not to consume them. These products should be thrown away or returned to the place of purchase.
emphasis mine. wooden sticks got in the product at the wrong time, leading to chunks of wood in the corn dogs. at least five people have been injured from chewing on unexpected corn dog wood.
throw these corn dogs away or return them for your money back! accidentally eating wood can, in a worst case scenario, become deadly from cutting up your insides and/or causing an infection. a more realistic outcome is confusion or a broken tooth, though.
tumblr still does not let me (rune) make tables. so here is my (rune!) best fucking attempt at formatting this information for tumblr!

the FDA does do a lot of important work but meat, poultry, and egg products are managed by the USDA FSIS. like with these dogs! you can tell which one is the relevant organization for a recall by which website hosts the recall. FDA stuff goes on FDA.gov, USDA FSIS stuff goes on FSIS.USDA.gov.
no because the FDA has not been the responsible body for these types of products in any way especially relevant to this recall for at least several decades. recalls and inspections for food like corn dogs are handled by the food safety and inspection service as run by the united states department of agriculture and this has been the case for a fairly long time.
from the FSIS wikipedia page:
Food products under the jurisdiction of the FSIS, and thus subject to inspection, are those that contain more than 3% meat or 2% poultry products, with several exceptions,[1] and egg products (liquid, frozen or dried). Shell eggs, meat and poultry products not under the jurisdiction of the FSIS are under the jurisdiction of the United States Food and Drug Administration (FDA). The FSIS is led by the under secretary of agriculture for food safety.
unless I am missing something big here about the FDA both being a major responsible party to this corn dog recall and also fucking up bad, we absolutely do not need to be blaming the FDA for something it has historically had very little role in.
