warning because yes. goro has kidnapped ren by drugging him and plans to cut him open. one incision is made as a test but no further dissecting occurs in the wip.
"Amamiya-kun.. Amamiya, ..ke up… Ren, wake up!"
The voice twisted with malice, sharp in his ears and needling his brain until his body reluctantly opened it's eyes.
Ren could see.. nothing, really. There was some kind of light that hurt to look at, but there was a shadow.. behind.. it? He couldn't tell, but as soon as it came, it disappeared with a click. It was easier to see after that.
"It took you long enough to wake up, but I suppose it's my own fault." The voice mumbled, familiar and far from soothing. Hearing that voice felt like it was jarring memories loose from his brain, but he couldn't react quickly enough to grasp them as they came.
"Wh… hah.?" Ren tried, his eyes adjusting to the light. Finally, he could make out who was above him. Or beside him, apparently. Akechi stood beside his head at about waist height, and Ren realised that he had been laying down on something cold and hard. Akechi was speaking to him, too, even though he didn't know what about, so Ren went to move his arm and push himself up-
-except his arm.. hadn't.. moved.
In fact, Ren noted, with slowly climbing levels of fear, he couldn't really move at all. Bands of something held tight around his limbs, one across his neck and two criss-crossing his mid-section. They weren't hard but neither were they forgiving, thick leather-feeling straps. Similar, smaller binds encircled his wrists and ankles.
So that was a problem.
"Don't try to get up," he, Akechi, warned lowly. The tone certainly set off alarms, if nothing else. Akechi hadn't much moved from where he was, staring down at Ren with his impeccably shiny smile. It sent a twisting feeling through his gut. "Don't bother to move at all, really."
"Where am I?"
"That's not for you to know, is it?" His voice was snide as ever, as the upkeep of his smile began to fail. Akechi let it fall a degree, morbid amusement apparent. Ren tried to read him, more comfortable than he had ever seen the boy-detective, and similarly failed as he almost always had. All he'd ever wanted was to see inside his detective's head.
"Just hold still for a moment… I need to test something."
Akechi drifted in place for a second, mulling something over in his head. As quickly as he had begun to think he appeared to reach a conclusion, moving down the length of the table. He stood by Ren's feet and took something in hand, the ceiling lights reflecting back off it. It was hard to make out, blindingly so, with a handle made from metal.
Ren squinted as he tried, though. He knew he was foolish, but he'd be damned if he didn't.
"Tell me if you can feel this." Akechi instructed, his voice rising on a tilt. His eyes looked.. weird.
He moved closer, inspecting, and Ren felt spikes of fear pierce through him. He couldn't feel his breaths as they came, leather digging into his chest.
"Akechi.. Goro! Please…" Ren breathed, the ghost of real words, attempting to pull against his ties. His head thumped against the harsh metal table, surely a hard impact, but he couldn't much feel it. That was worse. Akechi was going to do.. something.
Something. Something Ren knew he didn't want, but his mind felt too loose to grasp the threads he wanted to follow. Something scraped the cool metal by his feet, an awful and shrill sound. He didn't want to look down even if he could, expression tightening with his eyes pulled closed.
"Akechi…"
"Oh, there's no cause for fear. You've proven it's not going to hurt.." Akechi assured, cupping his hand to the meat of Ren's thigh. He prodded at the flesh and held it tight, adjusting his leg this way and that. He gripped the tool in his hand tightly, bringing it down to pale flesh, bursting with red. Ren's eyes went open wide as he distantly felt the movement in his bones, paling at how little sensation he could feel within the limb. He tried to tense, pull his muscles taut, but his leg didn't move.
"You're numb all over. I can see it in your face. Even in your little coma, you tensed whenever I touched you." Goro prattled, releasing his leg. Ren tried to watch, insensate as he was, only catching the back of Akechi's body hovering over whatever the hell was by his feet.
"You drugged me?" Ren asked, tongue fat and useless in his mouth. The words didn't want to form, even as hysteria urged him to say something. Anything. Akechi didn't cut him. That wasn't what this was. It couldn't be what this was, his head had to have been playing tricks on him.
"Of course not, you just fell into a stupor all by yourself.." Ren felt himself straining to nod, absently. He had wanted to believe it. That Akechi wouldn't hurt him, but that didn't seem right.. how did he get here? A strike to his side knocked him back into the moment.
"Of course I did, you fool." Akechi spat his words, striding back to loom above Ren's head. His smile was wide and wild.

Summary: Ren had spent the night out; drinks with his oldest friend to celebrate their team's successes in their latest competition. The night was good, hanging with Ryuji's new teammates and making friends out of a few. He could hardly remember stumbling in through the door way of his dorm, waking only to the pounding of his head and sunlight filtering through the open window of the tiny livingroom he shared with his prickly roommate, Goro Akechi. Not to mention, the suspiciously warm body his head rested against.
